    BEGINNER'S LUCK! :thumbsupsmiley:

  3. Its been a pretty scary off-season for collectors. Some topics I read in some international collectors message boards.

    1. Some rushed and error cards are coming out of Upper deck at a alarming rate. I.E. Wrong patch uniform, un-cut patch window and so on...

    2. International collectors are questioning whether Upperdeck really verifies the autos of its players. "This card was sent directly from blah blah...to Upperdeck..." Meaning no official witness like topps. Kinda makes you wonder kung bakit hirap topps in obtaining in-card autos.

    3. Scariest of all. A collecting site was recently taken off because it showed viewers how to "improve" the looks of GU cards. So they can sell at a higher premium in ebay. Nothing is sacred. I saw A lebron exquisite rc auto being upgraded with a 3 color patch inserted on the spaces between the jersey and the cover card board. Same with Jordan GU's and alot of other high end stuff.

So, yeah just buy from reputable sellers you really know like atty23ball and Vertu. You can be assured it is the real thing.

    Yeah, really scary!

atty23ball and Vertu is the same person right?

  4. Whatever Pacquiao wants ...

MANILA, Philippines -- Did boxing champ Manny Pacquiao think he is just taking a bus or was he simply a superstitious prima donna who always has to have his way?

In yet another incident with Philippine Airlines, Pacquiao’s grating attitude nearly delayed PAL Flight PR 102 bound for Los Angeles, California, on Aug. 7, airport sources told the Philippine Daily Inquirer Thursday.

The sources said that Pacquiao could not make up his mind whether or not to board the flight that was scheduled to take off at 10:30 p.m.

It was nearly 10 p.m. and most of the passengers had already boarded the plane when Pacquiao and his party decided not to take the flight, prompting airline ground personnel to start offloading their luggage, the sources narrated.

But in less than 10 minutes, the sources said, Pacquiao changed his mind and decided he wanted to proceed to the United States where he would be training for his October grudge match against Mexican fighter Marco Antonio Barrera.

Another problem, though, was that Pacquiao wanted his corner man, Restituto Fernandez, to be on the flight with him. But Fernandez was on standby in the economy section.

Pacquiao reportedly called up PAL president Jaime Bautista.

It was a move that reportedly irked not a few people at the airport because Pacquiao’s call to the airline bigwig implied his “backing” by the powers-that-be at PAL, the sources said.

    Superstitious

“It got some of the people thinking that maybe Pacquiao was superstitious, wanting his corner man to travel with him,” the sources said.

Ultimately, Fernandez managed to get a seat, after Rex “Wakee” Salud, the boxer’s business associate and confidante who was traveling with him in first class, gave up his seat.

Bautista told the Inquirer it was one of Pacquiao’s friends who phoned him and not the boxer himself. “The news that I received was that he (Pacquiao) wanted his trainer to be with him.”

PAL did not give Pacquiao special treatment, Bautista said. He explained that the airline simply allowed Salud to swap his seat since he was a booked passenger on the flight and a business class ticket was purchased for Fernandez, an upgrade from his economy ticket.

Asked if an ordinary passenger could do the same half an hour before takeoff, Bautista said that the airline would allow it as long as the passenger, like Salud, was already booked, and a ticket would be purchased.

    No last-minute switching

But the Inquirer sources insisted that no airline allows a “switching” of passengers, especially at the last minute.

Told that Pacquiao seemed to have been involved in some incidents with PAL, Bautista said he did recall one incident but it was a “minor one.”

Pacquiao had once earned the ire of airport and airline employees when he almost delayed a flight to Hong Kong after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport late and appeared not to be rushing to catch the flight.

    Yeah..

    Whatever Pacquiao wants ...

    ... Pacquiao gets!

  5. @vertu ito o hahha pero un nga lng .. mga for bidding mo to hihiihh so malamang mag mamahal p lahat yan hheheheh pero malay mo lang nmn dba :D :D :D

    http://www.ebay.ph/viItem?ItemId=130101237462

    ngangarap lng nmn hahahhaa

Haha, for sure talagang tataas ang price ng mga exquisite cards na yan at di mangyayari na stick to .99 cents lang. Lalo na at rookie cards pa!

Even exquisite base cards command top dollar, mind you. :goatee:

  6. Everyone - Ok lang ba kayo sa sticker auto? Parang it defeats the purpose for me eh. Does it affect ung decision nyo to buy or pay higher for an item?

Sticker autos are a total crap! :grr:

Parang nawawala ung legitimacy nung card kasi you just put a sticker with someone's auto on it then pass it on as an autographed card?! :thumbsdownsmiley:

Grabe na ang marketing power ng mga card companies ngaun, hehe.. They just let a player sign on a bunch of stickers and after pasting that to a card, PRESTO! May malaking value na ung card, hehe.. <wala bang smiley na dollar signs ang mata? insert ko sana dito>

I think a real and legitimate autographed card should be one in which the player really did sign on the card itself, d ba? Mas maganda talagang bilhin ung on-card auto kaysa sa sticker auto although I'll still grab a sticker auto of my favorite player lalo na pag mura benta, hehe.. ;)

I noticed na mas common sa mga release ng Topps ang sticker auto kaysa sa ibang card companies or is it me just noticing too many UD Exquisite autos around? BTW, pahingi naman ng trivia jan. Can someone tell me kung ano'ng card company ba una'ng nagpalabas ng sticker auto at sa anong card? Ano kaya reaction ng mga collectors noon?

  7. I noticed the handwriting, as well, skyfan.. A lot of critics compare MJ with Lebron.. One thing is for sure Jordan's penmanship is better than the King.. Kaso in terms of hobby impact, a better penmanship has no bearing.. haha!!! :P

    That's true.

Kahit nga siguro first letter lang ng name nia ang sinulat nung player (e.g. L for Lebron James), as long as sulat-kamay nia un at authenticated, magkakaroon pa rin ng value ang any item na sinulatan nia.

Anyway, ang ganda talaga ng mga cards na may inscriptions aside from the autograph.

Mas may personal touch from the player ika nga. Medyo madumi nga lang tingnan lalo na kung ampangit ng handwriting ng player, hehe..
