  1. When watching elite level athletes train on tv, they only show part of their training and don't give the exact details or mislead people.

When a gold medal or millions of dollars are on the line, you won't openly give your secrets now would you?

    hmmmm.. got some point there.

so you think those we're misleading?

  2. focus on doing more total sets per workout rather than doing a lot of exercises.

e.g. 5-8 sets for bench press

    5-8 sets for squats

    5-8 sets for deadlifts

    no need for secondary exercises

    thanks..

Saw Paeng Nep on Bandila, Dianne is covering his workout routine, catch up something. I think he said, lean workout is more often with lots of exercise (cant put up a word for it) rather than volume training.something like that...

  3. as far as i know, training volume is what contributes to large muscles. i believe it's continual sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.

Thanks, though is had to google "continual sarcoplasmic hypertrophy".

You also mention training volume. Volume in terms of single session workout or number of times lets say per week work-out?

    Could you further explain?

  4. Thank you to those who replied…

About gym mentality that I was INQUIRING about, got first hand experience yesterday (day 1 of my attempt to have a lean body).

It may not be the rule in the gym but IMHO, it was unspoken rule not within the group but within self. I guess you guys already know what im talking about, it is not easy not to compare in which case I believe leads to the mentality.

    1. that "bigger is better" mentality is not a rule in the gym.

    2. not wanting to get huge is not an excuse to avoid weights. you can't accidentally get huge. if it were that easy, do you think people would choose to be as they currently are? you are undermining the hard work of bodybuilders.

    3. you want to lean out. the best way is to increase your metabolism. i suggest a lot of backreading.

    Sir palakol,

Thank you for pointing about the weights, I believe it is so.

It is not my intention to undermine the hard work of bodybuilders, what I’m inquiring how to loose those love handles without gaining muscles or getting huge as you point out.

    Now..back to regular abs programming.

  5. This is my looooonggggg time problem...

    sarap lumamon eh...

last year i tried to do sit ups and some abs exercises, napansin ko na nagfifirm lang sya but the fats around it is nandun parin..hirap mabawasan. This xmas, i ate a lot and napansin ng iba ko officemate na tumaba raw ako and so indeed. Im planning to enroll sa gym this afternoon para sa cardio "daw" (not familiar with the fitness terms). But my prob is, I don’t wanna gain muscles kase kahit papano eh may curved na muscles ko and i wanted it to stay that way.

My housemate who uses to go to gym last year says the exact words im sayin now, but as i saw it, nde nya mapigilan magpalaki ng katawan, i told him na malaki na katawan nya and he just simply said kulang pa daw. Some of my friends said to me that mentality daw sa gym na ganito and nde maiiwasan, kumpetensya kumbaga at maeenganyo ka.

Could someone tell me more about this so called mentality..

    thx..

  6. For a Pinoy flick, it was pretty good (emphasis on "for a Pinoy flick"). "Big budget" na raw, pero halatang ayaw masira yung simbahan (Hollywood would've made a replica that they can destroy). But heck, Baler's "big budget" would've been catering money for a mid-level Hollywood production. Ok lang storyline. Di masyadong distracting yung love-angle tienes. Acting was good. Walang nag-OA -- mostly the sin of Pinoy actors who want to exert a "pang-award" effort. It was watchable. But really no great shakes compared to the press it's been getting.

    Saw this movie..

story line was good but kulang sa.... how should i say it...emphasis siguro...

kulang sa diin ng mga magagandang scenes...

cinematography was good..overall, i might say it was better..well to compare to the other entries...

  7. got my LG cookie last xmas, sad to say it rebooted three times on the first week and restore the original settings.

Battery is not that... how should i call it...precise....

yesterday, i forgot my charger and after using it for almost two days, run out of battery. then when i charged it and turn it on..there goes my settings again including saved text messages. i tried to search the problem to other sites but the complain/s is the same.

and oh....sometime screen lock can bug you, three seconds i think and no custom settings ( i think).

    bad cookie...

    care to share any solutions????

  8. In a painting, the painter must be able to translate what is in his mind's 'eye' into hand and arm movements to convert it into something on canvas. An analogue photographer must be able to take how he sees a photograph in his mind and translate that to an image on film and paper. He does this by knowing the difference between how his eye sees a scene and how film sees the same view. Then he considers the limitation of how much light he has to paint with, and the limitations of his film medium. And because it is troublesome to get from clicking the shutter to seeing the final product, he has to be able to do all of this correctly the first time. Up to this point, there is no talent or crestivity involved. This is purely craftsmanship--the ability to use tools effectively and efficiently. This, I respect greatly.

I may not fully agree with you but this particular perception is well said.

    Cheers to the great oldies!

Merry xmas guys..just to lighten up.

  10. I’m planning to go to Cebu this weekend as a backpacker, could someone help me with my quest…That is to get in many historical sites as possible in 3 hours…yes…3hours.

Could anyone suggest the most efficient drop zone to achieve my goal and places to visit upon arrival?

Hope someone reply before the weekend coz my e-z map won’t answer me back.

As agxo3 mentioned, ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor. Think of it this way, the higher the ISO setting, the less light is needed to form a picture. So if you're going to shoot indoors, for example, most probably you'll be needing a high ISO setting to produce good pictures. Otherwise, the pics will turn out dark.

This is why when buying an ISO 100 film, you'll notice that the box will say that the film you're buying is recommended for shooting outdoors, while ISO 400's are considered indoor/outdoor use.

The advantage of shooting with a high ISO setting is that you can produce pictures even if light source is limited. The disadvantage is that pictures become grainy or noisy.

    easily digested...

thx bro... and pardon my ignorance.. <_<

  12. More on f-number, f-stops, exposure, and the like........

    ....omitted...

Very informative agxo3, I urge you to continue.

Could you discuss more on ISO and its importance in DSLR contrary to its original purpose (film photography; correct me if I’m wrong)?

This time do it in humane manner. :alien: :hypocritesmiley:
