  1. anybody living there who is in the right age can accept the letter. so bilin mo na lang sa mga tao na sabihan kayo pag me sulat.

as of now, you need not call or talk to anybody or agency. wait na lang for a notice or any paper/document na ibigay sa inyo.

as long as wala kayo natatanggap na official correspondence, dapat me peace of mind ka.

lets just cross the bridge when we get there. hehe :thumbsupsmiley:

Ok bro. Salamat sa advice. Paranoid lang ako

  2. they should know of course. if there is any problem naman, you will receive a letter from the agency concerned (city assessor, city engineer, etc.).

its best to wait for a notice or letter from the proper officials.

pag me pumunta, always ask for the ID. get the name.  and remember, you have the right to refuse information and the right to not let them enter your house.

    ingat sa scams

Thanks pare! Problem is no one who lives in the house represnts our interests. If a letter is sent, will it have to be signed for by whoever it's addressed to? Who can I call or what office can I send someone to visit to check if there are problems? Pre, when you pass the bar, you might have your very first client. I just need someone to check up on this for my peace of mind. LMK if you're interested.

  3. Tanong ko lang po,

My parents own a house in Manila. My mother has passed away, and we are all living in America including my father. All of the taxes are up to date and there are no liens on the house. Lately, there has been 2 visits to the house from somebody representing city hall asking "sino ang may ari ng lupa at bahay?" This was relayed to me by the people currently living there. Is this normal? Why would city hall ask something they should already know? Any legal issues we should know about with regards to my mother's name on the title of the house? Any common scams on this? Am I being paranoid? Salamat!

  4. the petition costs big. i read in a paper (newsbreak, if i am not mistaken) before that around 500k is necessary for annulement. that includes the lawyer's fees, the filing fees, the padulas sa judge, the appeal, etc.

yes, you may go to the police. but i suggest na dalhin mo na lang sa barangay. but let me ask you, ikaw lalaki, ikaw binubugbog, ready ka ba na ipangalandakan ito? if you think you can, go ahead.

no, a lawyer cannot officiate marriage. only the following are allowed.

    a. priest/ minister - provided that at least one of the parties is a member of the church or congregation

    b. judges - can be done only within the area of their jurisidiction

    c. mayors - same as judges.

falling out of love is not a valid ground.

Did the price for an annulment went up? I inquired approx 1 year ago and several lawyers quoted me in the range of 100k-150k. Duration times between 1-2 years, pag walang sabit. 500k na ngayon? Wow!

  5. where are you located?

proper magnification should be around 2.5x. where did you buy the rolex report book? how about the movement of the cartier?

Atong, I'm sorry, I should have clarified that these watches mentioned are all knock offs. I am in Wisconsin USA. I bought the rolex report on ebay. It is by John E. Brozek. I am 100% sure you can still find it on ebay. All of the movements are suppose to be made in Japan. In the ad, the Rolex is suppose to have a miota movement. This must be Japanese for POS.

  6. you can always buy another new watch for that amount.  3.5k can get you a casio, seiko or citizen, which is not bad... unless you're maintaining a certain look. like the look of a  jubillee bracelet or black sub on your wrists complementing a plain shirt.  but at 3.5k with the movement unestablished?  anyone experience having a AAA replica that lasted? feedback heavily appreciated. if for 3.5k and it could last more than 5 years, then not bad. seikos last almost more than 5 years.

bo, any insights on AAA's and any suggestions?

for harabas... i used to wear a tag 2000... now its an oris arterlier moonphase or sandoz sub.

In the last 6 months, I have bought a Cartier Santos, Franck Mueller Vegas, and a Rolex explorer II. Bought them at ioffer for about P5K each. The Mueller is too big and clunky and I don't ever wear it. The Cartier is a quartz and is very nice, another consideration for a buy later on. The explorer II is good cosmetically. The magnification is probably at 1.5x. The weight is comparable. There are many telltale signs up close, the most glaring would be the hour markers, but can fool all from 3 feet. I actually have the book the rolex report which has good details on spotting fakes. The movement is suppose to be Japanese and quit working after the 2nd month. Now work as a paper weight. Does a fine job. :D

  7. i'm thinking of passing up on this too, but i'm too interested in its detail and in what's inside.  :D

thinking of the logic pokpok gave me, the idea suddenly came up on my mind that however similar a citizen or sandoz datejust or sub may be to their rolex counterparts,  the wont be exactly the same.  the curves of the case and band will be different; so will be the dial markings.  maybe if you would want to try on some watches and see how they look on your wrists with different outfits, that is the way to go.  or you might want to maintain a certain 'look' at all times without wearing out your rolex watch.  the replica might come in handy.  this, however, defeats the purpose of the design of the oyster case.  most people, myself included, are afraid that the jubilee bracelet stretches or the oyster bracelet gets scratched.

another option is the tudor series which is quite resembling but recognizably different.  IMHO, the recent tudor prince date has an elegant bracelet design. another plus is that they are not that well-copied.  i had only seen 3 tudor replicas so far--a hydronaut, a rectangular prince date, a round prince date with diamond markers. all were easily distinguishable as replicas.

Another alternative is the Tag Aquaracer. I haven't seen one up close, but the pictures look magically delicious :P Can be had for about $700 on ebay. But I'm looking to buy a Rolex and I'm making sure it's the one for now because it would be completely insane if I bought both.

  8. graduated from datejusts? i thought it should be the other way around with the younger people wanting sports watches more then having more refined tastes and switching to datejusts as they get old.

just pm me when you are coming to manila. we could take a look together.

I'm not that young, and this might just be the beginning of my mid life crisis. :D Also I'm trying to get in all of my joneses fixed before I get married and get a new commander!

I still wear my black face datejust pang harabas. I'm still fond of it, but... as a watch fiend, I'm sure you understand.

I also looked into a Sandoz sub because of the better movements, but since I'll be in Manila in about 10 days, I thought, why not buy one there. If I bought one online, it probably wouldn't get here on time. Also the cost is another factor. The Singapore Sandoz models that caught my eye is in the P15K range includes shipping. These watches will more than likely be disposable, so P3.5K each doesn't sound bad comparatively speaking.

  10. just curious, why would you want to buy one when already have an original one?

Good question. I've graduated from the datejusts. I am torn between buying a Submariner, GMT II and somedays I am even considering a Yachtmaster.

I figure, maybe if I buy fakes of all 3, wear each one for awhile, it might help me decide. I hope.

  11. i saw AAA replicas for 3,500 at greenhills.

the subs are very similar except for the small date magnification and the rough edge around the cyclops.

the datejusts also have the same problem with the cyclops and the roman numeral markings on the dial are edged compared to the rounded ones on the originals. two-tone bracelets give a different shine.  the fonts of the rolex and superlative chronometer markings on the dial are also bolder.

if i were to choose, id go for the s/s sub and s/s stick datejusts

      :D

I will buy one and post a pic in December. Salamat ulit! :)

  12. yes, i am quite familiar with the poor man's watch forum.  the prices there are quite expensive compared to hongkong. for local sources, most carry the datejust lookalikes because they are the most saleable item here. i wouldnt bet on the two-tone models as i would presume they are gold plated.

    Atong,

Do you know the differences between RXW and Sandoz? Thanks for your responses :D

  13. rizal avenue or ongpin but it is cheaper in hongkong.  its local service center is at ever gotesco. what kind of sandoz are you looking for? if its the sandoz sub, i suggest you buy abroad as i have a watch jeweller friend who told me there is a problem with the locally sourced sandoz sub with regards to leaks in the gaskets. if you're after the rolex datejust types, i can refer you to some shops at ongpin which sell them but the selection is not that complete compared to hongkong.

Thanks! I am looking for the yachtmaster, explorer and airking types. I found this website that sells the made in Singapore Sandoz with sapphire crystals with a link to the made in Hongkong models:

    http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES/San...eSalesTable.htm

The price for the yachtmaster is $225 plus $25 shipping.

For me it doesn't really matter where it's made. The main difference seems to be in the crystals since the movements are very similar.

  14. LOL! pokpok, I think I could basically pinpoint your age!

ASIN is the definitive Pinoy Rock with their own style with little outside influences. Most of the posters here, I presume, are born late to trully realize the greatness of ASIN which recently took the center stage again, albeit, without enough credits to ASIN.

The song "Balita" is probably a benchmark all on it's own, but the young'uns would never realize Blackeyed Peas "APL Song", is based on this great song by ASIN.

    :)

Every time I listen to "Balita" takes me back to that era of uncertainty and unfulfilled promises. A crossroad where Ferdie took the wrong turn. Really a sad song.

The female lead vocalist is magical. I have never seen her, but I love her voice. I wish there were more songs with her singing.

  15. LOL! pokpok, I think I could basically pinpoint your age!

    :)

I actually bought their greatest hits cd February of this year. Didn't hear of them untill I came here. About my age... huy loko ka! Secret natin yun ha

BTW, I'm going home this November! Mainly to Manila, but am planning a trip to Subic. Hows about you?

  16. So did Timex when it began distributing through non-conventional venues like drugstores, supermarkets, etc.

But Swatch did teach Seiko, Timex, and the like a lesson or two...

When Seiko and Citizen outsold all of the swiss watchmakers combined, some had to merge to survive. Seiko and Citizen was dominant. Tissot, Rado, Omega, Longines, Blancpain, Hamilton went to a publicly owned consortium. Probably has something to do with the current resale of these watches.

I don't think Timex had the same effect. I wouldn't call Timex dominant at anytime.

Swatch was a rare swiss watch success story in that it profited making quartz watches. The lesson was to the swiss industry who tried to compete with seiko et all with quartz, but was not competitive due to it's high price. Seiko and Citizen had a different target market compared to Swatch.
