i've been to Liberty Hotel Saigon Parkview in Pham Ngu Lao street. Ok din, 3 star hotel. May gym at Massa massa. hehe. Ok ang breakfast buffet, di lang masyado nagpapalit ng food everyday.

Forget Bangkok... Phuket's a better choice, I recommend Bangtao area.

Oh, forgot to acknowledge that Nusa Dua is a better choice if planning to rent one of the private villas.

Kuta or Legian are too down market, better to stay at Seminyak and take the short trip to Kuta or Legian for the bars. All three beaches are not for swimming though (ok for surfers). Nusa Dua is for families and has a better beach but is much too expensive. Apart from room rates being on the higher end, you'll be forced to take all your meals at the hotel outlets and get your massage from the hotel service.

Winter is best at Lake Kawagujiko, best view of Mt. Fuji. You can take a day trip to Fujiten snow resort from there to learn to ski or snow board or just for really nice white winter pics.
