  1. have you tried going into control panel and accessing the Sound configuration tab?

You can test the speakers through there to make sure that all speakers are in fact being detected and is set to 5.1.

If that fails you can always check the Creative Knowledge Base to find the solution to your issue.

This is a more productive approach rather than blaming the OS straight away.

    Good luck!

i feel the same. it seems u missed checking the sound configuration tab in the control panel. that could be the only problem. sometimes, the problem is also in the speakers.

  2. very true tom, and to be honest i actually wrote a journal during my days there and on the cover of my journal i wrote "Bonfire of the Gods"... hahaha, its the perfect title for what happened to me there... there's so much more i want to share about my experiences and adventure there... but unfortunately, this is not the right thread for my story.....

  3. ^

john, still waiting for your story- the one that involves a sensitive issue. :)

Sorry kanski. I was travelling. Didn’t see ur post until now.

    Here it is....

    11. What is your worst travel experience?

I wasn’t gonna answer this coz its a little taboo for me to talk about it.. but what the hell. it doesn’t matter. My worst travel experience is GOING TO PRISON IN MEXICO. Too much partying in avenida revolucion tijuana had taken its toll on me and one day, i found myself inside the probably worst & most dangerous prison in mexico. The place is called La Pinta. Mexico calls it Centro de Rehabilitacion Social. But what it really is is a university of crimes. I came in with a degree in computer science and i came out of this place with a "masters degree in organized crimes". This is the place where the worst of the worst in mexico are imprisoned to serve their sentences. Funny how after the petty little mistake that i made, i ended up getting mixed up to live with these people. I was miserable in the beginning, but only for a few days...Going to this prison is just about the only answer i can give to the above question. But it also answers several other questions for me: What is your best travel experience? Where is the place you would love to go back to?? (on top of my list) Where do they have the best parties???

Yes, guys. This is the place where i experienced the best and most outrageous parties in my entire life. This is a city within a city. In La Pinta, they don’t lock u up inside cells with metal bars. They simply throw u inside a huge compound about the size of 8 city blocks and if u are a ‘malandrin’ (a low-life drug addict), you would ask one of the guards to lock u up inside the two large buildings where they have the cells for prisoners who can not afford to buy a ‘caraca’ (house). But fortunately for me, i managed to get a caraca just a few days after my arrival. And that’s where it all began for me. I started meeting all kinds of GODS AND LORDS here. From the petty drug donkeys of mexico to the rich & very powerful drug lords of different drug cartels of mexico and other south and central american countries... from leaders of kidnapping syndicates to the corrupt high officials of the mexican military and PGR (like FBI & DEA in US). These guys would throw parties everyday like there is no tomorrow... with all kinds of booze, pretty & decent women to serve u everyday and party with u, malandrins working as my messengers whenever i need something and all kinds of drugs and dope that u can think of and the prison guards in their payroll are out there to make sure that nobody bothers us. My friends here were running their business operations from within the prison by using cellular phones. And guess who learned to program and change the numbers on their cellular phones everyday so that they can not be traced??? Yes... it’s silly ole’ me. I earned more money here than I can ever earn in any corporation that i worked for. And because of all the money and all the protection and friendship that i earned from programming discreet numbers in their celfones, these ‘gods and lords’ of la pinta protected me and gave me everything i wanted. Some of the very best days in my life were actually spent here in this prison. I didn’t ever want to get out of there. But I had to. I had to make the right choices. I had to be a “good person” again. I’ve been given a chance by God to witness the darkest sides of human nature – and my choice after living through this experience was to live a normal and quiet life with a God-fearing family. Now, I’m probably living a boring life compared to the life that I had when I was in La Pinta. Somewhere in the back of my head, part of me still wants to go back to live the kind of life that I had when i was there. But i’ve already learned to accept the fact that it will never ever happen....

  4. miss ko na boracay... it's been 3 yrs since my last vacation there.. wow, tagal na pala...

okay lang ba pumunta ng boracay sa 3rd week ng november????? plano ko kasi eh... me stop over ako sa pinas for 10 days, parang gusto ko magparty mag isa sa boracay!!!

  5. Most of my recent travels were contentrated in North & Central America, Australia, Asia and the Middle East & North Africa. I've only visited 3 cities in europe... vienna (my favorite there), dusseldorf and amsterdam... all 3 only twice and only on business trips. of course, business trips for me are always mixed with pleasure. To visit Rome for two weeks is right there on top of my "bucket list" (being a roman catholic). I also wish I can find the opportunity to visit Seville, Spain (where my grandfather came from) and of course, paris and venice (I promised my GF that I'd take her there next year).

I'd also like to post my answer to this question: what's the place that you've already visited but wouldn't mind or would love to visit again?

There are actually 3 special places for me that I'd love to return to. The first and top most is a place that I'd like to tell u guys later on in this thread (because it's a sensitive issue for me... hehehe). It's the place where they have the BEST PARTIES, which I answered previously (you will be shocked if i tell u where THIS PLACE is!!!). The second place is Culiacan, Sinaloa because I'd love to visit a family there who have treated me with so much love and hospitality. And the third place is Bangkok, Thailand - because the last time i was there, i spent 5 days with this very sweet girl and during our last day together, she took me to her family's house and introduced me to her parents... it's been years, but i have this weird and odd feeling that i may have gotten her pregnant during the days that we were together... i dont know what i'm talking about... i just gotta make sure for myself that i'm wrong about my feeling.... hehehe. :hypocritesmiley:

  6. :thumbsupsmiley: the last couple of weeks, i've learned so much from just reading the entries on this thread. i think it's exciting to meet people who has a passion for travelling. the schengen states and the rest of europe seem to be the destination of choice for many of us here....hehehe..... and i think it's very interesting to know that some of us here have similar answers on the questions that tom had posted... cleanest city seems to be vienna... rome seems to be a common choice for a culturally fulfilling experience... and the most beautiful girls (outside of the Philippines, of course) seem to be Australians/Italians (I feel so much better now…whew).

Tom & kanski, thank u so much for the advices… I’ve cut and paste your advices in the "ROME" folder on my desktop. i hope u don't mind… hehehe…. :thumbsupsmiley:

  7. hindi lahat, actually. some fat people learn to deal with it in such a way na nasasakyan na nila kapag biniro sila about their weight and they can turn the whole thing around into a humurous discussion. mas okay silang kasama. meron naman na dahil sa dami ng comment sa kanila, they simply got burned out at madali na silang magalit... o naging sensitive na sila sa issue.

  8. wow... i missed out going to these places. that's why i think it's better to do a lot of research first before going to any of these nice places in europe.

tom, will it be too much if you can tell us more about your experiences in rome?? i can't stop thinking about this place. i think i'd really like to go to this city on my next personal vacation. where should we go for our first visit to this city??? thanks...

  9. I feel very sad at the moment.

my girlfriend is torn up... she just found out that her favorite auntie has cancer and was told she only has 6 months left to live. I've been trying all day to give her some pep talk bcoz she will be speaking to her tomorrow and she wants to be very careful about what she's gonna tell her. I dont know what else to do... she wouldn't stop crying... and i dont know what to tell her to make her feel better about the whole thing.....

  10. yup... there's freedom of religion in all the other countries in the middle east. Egypt actually loves their tourists and treat them all with respect. it's a perfect place to go backpacking. it's definitely a nice & wonderful place to visit. Jordan on the other hand is not too friendly, especially the city of amman. but u know what they say: SMOOTH SEAS NEVER MADE A SKILLFUL SAILOR! what makes u a better traveler is actually the bad experiences, just as well as the goods ones.

and good luck in vienna.... make sure u visit Hooters in downtown, just around the corner from hotel intercon. the st. stephan's church and the big ferris wheel are certainly the two places u have to see when you're there. and never ever go there during winter.... hahahahaha.

So when the opportunity came and I had to sell the car, simula noon lagi na lang manual ang kinukuha kong kotse. besides, manual makes u feel like u r really in the driver's seat and u can really be in control of the car better!!

  12. what if she cheated and got pregnant??? hmmm...... my honest answer??? hindi ko pwedeng sabihin dito eh.... hehehehe... dahil iba ang pumasok agad sa isip ko!!! pero, i still think that if she got pregnant by another guy... of course, it goes without saying na tapos na samin ang lahat diba... but i will continue a friendly relationship with her just to provide some support.... especially if the other guy decides to leave her and not support her. The way i see it is that I did love her once... and i can continue to love her as a friend.

  13. etoh very effective...

except sit-ups everyday which really helps take away the belly fats. What i did was: I would lay down and put my hands on my cheeks, then with my knees bent, i would alternately touch my left-knee with my right-elbow, then vice versa, left and right. i would do 50 cycles of this every 5 minutes for about 30 minutes everyday. IT WORKED - my beer belly is gone!!!

  14. 14. Which city was the most dangerous?

Saudi Arabia takes the entire cake on this one!!!

Of all the many, many places I’ve visited and lived in, nothing and I mean “absolutely nothing” can ever compare to this country. This is the only country in the world where you are not “allowed” to BE a Christian!!! And it isn’t just Christianity that they do not allow; you are not even allowed to have freedom here. In this country, most of everything that you would normally think as normal in your day-to-day life – IS CONSIDERED ILLEGAL HERE!!! Your entire well-being is threatened in this country. You can’t even talk to women in public places, unless that woman is your wife or your relative. I will site one example of how dangerous it is to be in this country: I went to a flower shop to buy flowers for a friend. While the flowers are being prepared for me, I saw a pinoy waiting outside the flower shop. A minute later, this Filipina woman came up to him and the guy gave her 3 red roses and they started talking. Everything seemed normal. Immediately thereafter, a Saudi man with long beard together with a saudi police officer approached the two and without warning, the long-bearded man slapped the woman twice in the face. The police officer grabbed our kabayan and threw him into the police car and the lady was forced to go with the long bearded guy and he forcefully put her in his car and they all drove away. I have visited and lived in many cities all over the world & I have also visited several cities in the middle east – but for me, there is no question that the most dangerous country is the country that suppresses your freedom to do the things that you’ve always considered “legal and normal”!!!

  15. She's right here in the office, officemate ko siya

But she is already with another guy

I love her so much. But because of something I did, she broke up with me. I was so stupid

Now I see her everyday with her new bf. They come to work together, they take breaks together, during work they go to each other's place and whisper sweet nothings and they leave work together

Worse of all, they are situated just a few feet from my area. So I can't help but see them

My heart is crushed every time I see them. I feel like a huge stone slab keeps ramming my chest every minute of every hour of every day

I want her back so bad. I love her with all my heart

wow... having read your signature, i'm surprised that this kind of thing will even happen to u.... anyway fahfrd, i hope that u get over it soon enough. I went through the same exact thing that u are going through right now. It sucks... but the good thing is i know that it's gonna be over before u realize it. just take comfort that the person that u love is happy - with or without u..... take it easy friend....

  16. I'll answer another question...

    10. Who has the nicest people?

I’ll skip #9 for now and go straight to this question. Geographically speaking, the nicest people are all over the world. And compared to downtown SF and LA in the states (where practically no one makes eye-contact with you), I’d say that nice people are everywhere. But if I have to pick out a certain group of really kind and wonderful people (based on their culture), I think I’ll have to choose between Hawaii and the city of Culiacan in Sinaloa. Hawaiians are a diverse group of laid-back people, and because of the island-life setting, people tend to be very relaxed, generous, kind and more willing to be helpful to strangers. I remember being at the big island for the first time and my friend and I decided to rent a car to get around, we stopped to ask one of the locals how to get to the cultural center, and this guy not only showed us how to get there – but jumped in our car, took us to the cultural center and VOLUNTEERED to be our photographer while we were there! That same night, we ended up staying at his family’s house to spend the night and had a little taste of Hawaiian hospitality. Just wonderful people!!!

The other city that I love because of its nice people is Culiacan, Sinaloa. People here are generally not very friendly to strangers. But I particularly had a different experience here. The people that I visited here have a unique and wonderful way of receiving visitors like myself. They went out of their way to make sure that they cooked the most delicious local foods for me. They threw parties every night and invited most of their relatives and friends so that they can properly introduce them to me and they would even offer to have their beautiful sisters or daughters take me out in the city to have fun. People here are the most warm-hearted people I ever met in my life. I never had a boring moment here. I was supposed to stay only for several days, but because of their kindness, I ENDED UP STAYING FOR MORE THAN 2 MONTHS. I had a culture shock when I returned home!!!
