Oh yeah, May fares are extremely expensive. Go to Coron on June 4 - 6 instead via Air Philippines. Go directly to their website instead of booking the flight via PAL's website. If that's still too pricey for you, check out Zambales - Potipot, Anawangin, Capones, and Camara. Or Calaguas (off the Pacific coast of Camarines Norte). I highly recommend Calaguas.

Insufficient funds is never an excuse to not have a grand time. You just need to do a lot of research to get good deals. Coron town offers a bunch of cheap rooms and meals. Renting a boat for island hopping will set your group back about 3,500 to 4,000 bucks. The boat can ferry up to 8 people. Thus, if you divide the cost amongst yourselves, 500 bucks per pax.
