  1. mga bro, patulong naman. Im a dsl subscriber. Ok naman sya kaso, ngaun my problem akong naencounter. Pag nagnenet ako,it's only good for a couple of minutes tapos nabitaw ung connection, page cannot be displayed tapos ung ym,nagsisignout.nreconfigure ko na din un lan card,wa epek pa din. Funny thing is,ung monitor ng lan sa system tray, andun pa din, connected. Nagrun na ako ng anti spyware at anti vrus, wla namang nadetect. Pero pag safe mode, hindi nabitaw connection. Paano kaya to? Btw,im using a built in lan card and xp os.

if you're not experiencing the problem when you're in safe mode, most likely, it's your internet security software that causes the connection to fail on normal mode. for starters, try disabling all startup programs on msconfig(Start>Run>msconfig>Startup tab, disable all>Apply>Ok/close>Restart)

  2. got a problem with my globe visibility prepaid kit. i've installed it on my laptop, acer aspire 5920, running on vista home. na configure ko na, the problem is whenever i try to connect to the net, ayaw, may nalabas na prompt na "the remote server did not rereply in a timely fashion". tried to uninstall/install the program, restart and restart, same problem arises. the funny thing is when i installed it on my desktop and laptop which both run using windows xp, it's working well, i did not encounter any problem? any ideas, suggestions? i brouht this to globe business center but hindi din nila maconfigure, they kept telling me na ung laptop kong vista ang may problem, baka daw my virus or spyware, nirun ko naman lahat ng antivirus/spyware ko, walang nakita, not to mention hindi naman ako navivirusan or spywarean. help please.. lotsa thanks..

uninstall the software again. whe u reinstall it, run the setup.exe file as an administrator. if this didnt cut it, try disabling the UAC(Pearl>Control Panel>User Account>Turn Off UAC) before reinstalling the software. Restart the system after turning off UAC so that changes will be taken in. dont forget to turn it back on when ur done.

  3. good day!

na-scan po ito ng anti virus ko:

File C:\WINDOWS\psshutdown.exe tagged as not-a-virus:RiskTool.Win32.PsKill.au. No Action Taken.

File C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmdow.exe tagged as not-a-virus:RiskTool.Win32.HideWindows. No Action Taken.

    can i just delete them?

    please advise po.... many thanks!

psshutdown.exe is a software from SysInternals(now a division of Microsoft). it allows shutting down of a PC remotely. now, did u download this software? or did you install any SW from SysInternals that could have psshutdown.exe bundled with?

cmdow.exe is win32 commandline utility for windows XP down to NT. it allows windows to be listed, moved, resized, renamed, hidden/unhidden, disabled/enabled, minimized, maximized, restored, activated/inactivated, closed, killed and more. howver, there are rootkits that can infect cmdow.exe(the legit one) or mimic cmdow.exe(may mga hidden attributes na). i suggest not to remove this executable(actually, you might not be even able to delete it)

i recommend that you run an anti-rootkit/anti-trojan like rootkitbuster from trendmicro and trojan remover from simply super software. these tools you can get from the net, search ka lang.

  4. to my fellow mtc.. ask ko lang po ung pc ko walang sound card

but nag upgrade lang po ako ng memory and video card nawala na yong sound card?

is there a possibility that sound card is not a built-in?

I still believe that my sound card was not stloen by the late upgrader, what should i do?

thanks in advance bro's and sis! :thumbsupsmiley:

    open your device manager (Start>Run>devmgmt.msc)

look for multimedia audio controllers under Other Devices(im assuming that your sound driver got uninstalled accidentally). right-click, then click scan for hardware changes. if the item remains a question mark, ur gonna have to re-install your sound driver(check your mobo specs/manuals if u have integrated sound. kung expansion card ang gamit mo, im afraid ur gonna have to open the chassis and look for the sound card sa bandang likod--ung card na naka-attach sa speaker ports sa likod ng pc mo)

if the sound card is listed under sound, video, and game controllers, right-click the sound card, click properties, go to driver and click rollback driver. if it aint successful, then u gotta look for your sound card's driver on the internet.

if u can create a screenshot ng device manager mo, post mo dito so we can further help u out.

  5. culpritmooncake,

was your laptop running on batteries, or was it plugged into the electrical outlet? im just guessing here, but most probably, your monitor went dark because your laptop was just running on batteries and it was running out of power, thus, the system dimmed or completely turned off your screen to conserve power. try plugging the laptop into the eletrical outlet and turn your computer on. unless the AC adapter isnt charging the battery(or the battery itself wont charge), your laptop should turn on perfectly, video and all. then, you can reconfigure your laptop's power options/settings to its defaults.

  6. tabolits,

Either the userinit entry in the registry got deleted or modified. the correct entry for this one should be like this:

HKLM>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>WINDOWSNT>CURRENTVERSION>WINLOGON:Userinit=C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,(YES, there's a comma after the .exe and NOTHING should follow after that)

or, possibly, the userinit.exe file found in the system32 folder got changed or corrupted.

question is, were you trying to perform a parallel-install? if you were, you have to make sure that you're performing it correctly. you can find step by step instructions on how to perform a parallel install here:

    http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/i...dexfullpage.htm

dont forget to create a new name for computer name and your username. also, prior to performing the said procedure, make sure that you've configured your computer to just the basic devices(monitor, kbd, mouse, and of course, the tower).

as an alternative, you can try copying a clean userinit.exe file from the i386 folder found in the XP cd(do this by booting to the XP cd and entering the recovery console). thing is, this is a rather tedious process as aside from copying a clean userinit.exe file, you will also need to modify the registry key for userinit(registry entry found above) using recovery console.

if you'd ask me, i'd go for the parallel install.

  7. when malware infects your pc, its best to manually remove it. tedious, but if you cant afford to lose your files, its worth it.

tip: run autoruns and process explorer by sysinternals. yun nga lang, dapat maalam ka kung ano valid files at kung hindi, lalo na sa dlls. search google, may mga tutorials kang makikita how to use these tools. oh, and dont forget to make sure you remove the payload, because if you don't, babalik at babalik din si malware ;)

rule of thumb in removing malware is: observe the behavior, attack the behavior. find and remove policy restrictions. and the most important of all, find and remove the payload completely. eto yung pinaka-mahirap gawin dahil bubusisiin mo talaga si registry at lahat ng system and program files sa C:

  8. to those who own dell machines and are asking where to get spare parts or have the computer repair/serviced, you can go to Accent Micro. thing is, if the machine is out of warranty(or bought abroad or from ukay-ukay), its better to have it fixed by your friendly neighborhood computer tech. or, if you know someone who works as a tech at Dell Manila, maybe you can ask him to fix it for a fee.

now, if you need spare parts, 'tis much better if you just source them locally. for example, your dell machine requires a 250-watt non-PFC PSU, you can have that replaced with any non-Dell branded PSU with the same spec. just be careful with the details though, check of course whether your other internal hardware has its corresponding power cable(or mobo socket, if we're gonna talk about the P1 and P2 cables) in the PSU you're gonna get. rule of thumb is, before you buy any spare part for your machine, make sure that your machine supports it, para walang compatibility issues.

best advice? have the machine diagnosed by a Dell-certified tech. im sure maraming ganyan dito, may Dell Manila na eh.

  9. does anyone here know anything about the PREMYO SAVINGS BONDS" issued during the Marcos era?

kasi, pabalik-balik na ko sa Central Bank to have it encashed, but it seemed that the information given to me by CB people are either incorrect, conflicting, or simply absurd. karamihan ng mga napagtanungan ko dun, hindi nila alam kung ano yun, even after presenting them the bond certificates...

    please help naman po...thanks!

  12. CIRCULAR NO. 18-P

TO: ALL REGISTERED EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES

SUBJECT: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS IN THE FILING OF SICKNESS AND MATERNITY BENEFIT CLAIMS

To ensure receipt of benefits by members, authorized company representatives who file sickness and maternity benefit claims shall present the member's SS digitized ID or E-6 acknowledgement stub with two valid IDs (at least one with photo). This requirement is in addition to the presentation by the company representative of his SS digitized ID and blue card.

    For strict compliance.

eh pano kung na-file ko na yung maternity claim ko nun april pa? covered pa ba ko nyan? kse next month ko pa lang makukuha yung cash, next month pa ko magli-leave eh...

so, ibig sabihin, pag walang sss id, di make-claim yung benefit? naku, eh wala pa naman akong ID till now... :(

  13. question lang po:

does the father of an illegitimate child HAS to sign the child's travel papers? kse as far as i know, one parent lang ang kailangang pumirma. thing is kse the father dont want to sign anything, let alone see them na, kumbaga eh, he doesnt want to have anything to do with them anymore cuz the guy is already married and lives a new life na. problema kse, hina-harass sha nung mom, doing everything to make habol and make the guy's life miserable...the guy gives support naman, pro yun nga nasa agreement nila na hindi na sha guguluhin o iko-contact nung girl.

pwedeng di lang maayos ung pagkaka-kabit nung vid-card sa slot or madumi ung slot. common problem yan sa pc d2 b4, akala ko tipong bumigay na vidcard, un pala, maluwag lang.

    to marc7 and eraserheads,

dudes, thanks a lot for the help. i tried the things you said, pero tlagang ayaw eh. in the end, i brought it na sa supplier. sabi nila may tama daw yung monitor kaya pinalitan na lang nila ng bago kse covered pa ng warranty. kaya ngayon, bago na ulit PC ko, pwera lang yung keyboard ska mouse, hehehe. pero, nagtataka pa rin ako nung sinabi nila na may tama yung monitor kse ok naman yun bago nila pinalitan yung CPU ska lahat ng laman nun eh. cguro tinamad na lang magtroubleshoot yung tech nila kaya pinalitan na lang ng bago

problem ko naman ngayon, pag kino-connect ko yung CPU sa tv (may video out na eh) to watch VCDs or play some games, snowy yung screen ska malabo yung icons ng desktop kahit i-adjust ko yung display settings. sabi ng friend ko, baka daw loose yung connection sa tv or pangit yung kable. pero ok naman eh, cguro try ko na lang palitan yung cable. may ma-recommend ba kayo na di naman mahal? thanks ulit ha!
