  1. For horror novels, try Robert McCammon or Raymond Feist. Feist only has one horror novel "Faerie Tale" but it's scary as hell.

I find the Songs of Ice & Fire series by George R. R. Martin to be very impressive narrative storytelling.

The Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist is likewise excellent worldmaking in the vein of Weis and Hickman's Dragonlance saga.

For more suspense, Jeffrey Archer is surprisingly good. No out-of-this-world gadgetry but amazing insights into espionage, suspense, and action.

    Happy reading!

  2. sorry bro, I think I only collected it during the '94-'95 and '95-'96 season and I only bought the Skybox brand. hence, I don't have any TD's or KG's...

anyway, I just remembered one of the storylines from Marvel about this deadly virus (Legacy, I think)infecting mutants only. any of you guys know what happened to this story?

The Legacy Virus story arc concerned a deadly virus that affected only mutants. The story arc involved Magneto wanting to mutate the virus so that it would affect only humans, leaving mutants unharmed. Of course, the X-Men opposed him in this although Magneto was partially successful. Suddenly, the Legacy virus affected both humans and mutants. It was only through the sacrifice of Dr Moira MacTaggart (for the humans) and Colossus (for the mutants) that a cure was found for the Legacy virus.

This is the story arc where Beast finds a cure for the virus however a mutant must die in order to "activate" the cure. Against the advice of the X-Men, Colossus injects himself with the cure, thereby "activating" the serum and providing replicable vaccines for all mutants.

  3. Friends,

Now is the best time to get into the DC/Marvel comic book lines. Both companies are currently featuring universe-altering storylines that will forever change the way these universes are perceived. I'll start with the DCU since their Infinite Crisis story arc is still ongoing. (Warning Spoiler Alert: If you do not wish to know what happens in this story arc, DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS POST!)

The series begins in the aftermath of the leadup miniseries and several stories in other titles. The Justice League Watchtower has been destroyed, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are feuding, the OMACs are hunting down heroes and villains alike, a rift in space and time has opened in deep space, the Spectre is hunting and destroying magic, and the villains of the DC world have banded together into the Secret Society of Supervillains, killing prominant heroes like the Freedom Fighters. In response to this, the Superman of Earth-Two breaks out of the world in which he departed at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths, accompanied by Earth-Two's Lois Lane, Superboy of Earth-Prime, and Alexander Luthor of Earth-Three. Upon his return, he finds Power Girl and is able to restore her memories of Earth-Two. He then declares his plans and intentions—to reverse the decision made during the Crisis on Infinite Earths to save Earth-One, and make Earth-Two the dominant and primary Earth again.

Meanwhile, the other known survivor of the multiverse, Donna Troy, gathers a group of heroes to New Cronus for a mission into space to fight an unknown menace to the cosmos.

Check this ongoing series out for more details. The DCU will never be the same again!

  4. definitely the neverwinter nights series as well as starcraft and mechwarrior 2. also would like city of heroes only it's a pay-as-u-play online game so not much enthusiasm there. i hear the same company is coming up with guild wars which is online play without the fees. could be interesting.

    :P

  5. saw the batman begins trailer yesterday. movie looks very promising but i don't want to expect too much.

also saw the trailer of constantine. this is actually john constantine from the hellblazer series. let's face it, guys. keanu reeves is nothing like john constantine. the hellblazer is an irish cigarette smoking middle-aged warlock. the movie looks like a far cry from the comics. i've got some very low expectations for constantine the movie.

    peace!

  6. one of my top faves is KINGDOM COME. an amazing read from beginning to end with something for everyone.

batman is really my idol. the great thing about him is that he's human and has no special powers. he's really smart, too, and is somewhat paranoid. so paranoid that he keeps kryptonite with him, just in case he needs it against superman. dark knight returns is a classic indeed.

on the side of marvel, rise of the midnight sons was an interesting little series tho it would have been great if they had been able to fully explore the concept.

    cheers!
