Depends wether gusto mo inshore (casting sa beach for example) or offshore (boat fishing). Mas mura inshore fishing para sa begjnner setup 5k good quality na. For offshore around 15k good quality, pwede na din 10k 2nd hand

Can you send link of quality offshore gear?

  2. Fishing for me is about being one with nature and meditation, less about the gears or profits of selling my catch.

I love going to my spot each morning and have my catch of the day.  Grill my catch for pulutan later and if lucky and I have excess, sell to my neighbors.

Catch or none, I am happy sitting and watching the waves of the ocean and the beckon of the sun rising and slowly casting my shadow on the ocean.

Every now and then, I'd rent a boat and enjoy a  proper deep sea fishing with net.  Getting Knowledge of where certain types of catch are at certain days of the year is part of the thrill.

  3. I use Wongamat as my base there.  It's a clean beach with powdery cream-colored sands.  Just 2 hours from the airport via  bus.  Lots of fancy diners to choose from in front of the beach.  Within 10 minutes to Soi 6 via jeep and shopping mall Terminal 21 is on one end.

  4. I still prefer to retire sa squatter area.  I lived most my life there so  I'm comfortable and more importantly, truly blissful there, when I am with the poor folks.  Masaya, salu-salo, bingo sa kalsada, inuman sa tabi, tambay sa kanto...I thrive on those.  Walking without shirts and sometimes getting into fistfights with rival gangs or groups, over girls or  perceived territories, or sometimes nakursunadahan lang.  In the end, we stay together and are happy.

This time, as I'm in my 50s, no more bedspacing.  Instead Room-for-Rent.   I'll rent the best one available sa squatter.   I'll be bringing over stuff like TV, sound system, and electric fan, and also a nice mattress for the bed (no more of those thin foam mattresses).

I may not eat pagpag but will eat at regular karinderias.  I used to live with just 1 rice and half ulam.  Then paluto ng Lucky Me noodle with egg ke manang.

  5. Sadly, we have no luxury beach town near Manila.  We have El Nido but you have to fly and then there are scattered.   Boracay is the closest but again it's not near Manila.  Yung tipong you could live there.  Think of a strip of 5 star hotel resorts and  luxury residential resorts then a Greenbelt-like mall and lots of quality diners and spas around.

  6. Di ako marunong magluto, di ako marunong tumugtog, di ako marunong mag-golf or mag-tennis.  Ang alam ko lang kasi pumunta sa spa at magpaligaya ng theras kaya yun lang legacy na maituturo sa kids ko.

Abroad. But definitely not in the US

US is excellent for work but not much else.  10 years is good  enough.  It's not much but will give one  stability to retire to  Philippines, provided the person still works there for say another 15 years.   I got in US for work in 2016.  I think I will just complete up to June 2026 for full 10 years.  I already bought my condo.
