  1. So many good salaries here from posters (I assume most are Filipinos) working abroad. I salute you all, I grew up with a dad who worked in another country that gave us the financial capacity to live comfortably in exchange for being away for most of the last 24 years.

I want to share my income information since I wish to encourage hardworking professionals that there are great opportunities to make money in the Philippines for honest and hardworking individuals. (Just keep the two traits in mind since I believe that this got me the role and none of that "who you now" crap that so many Filipinos believe in).

    Some relevant info about me:

    Call Center Exec

    PROS:

Annual salary: Php 2.4M (rough estimate) + bonuses (equal to 10-15% of annual)

Working for one of the worlds most recognizable brand (so I always get a wow when I give my business card)

Open minded industry who does not discrimnate age as long as your accomplishment speaks for yourself (I got into my role at 26 y/o and I'm now 29)

10 mins drive from home to work (though this may be a PRO of my address rather than my office)

    CONS:

Being a decision maker for a big company, "everything is always your fault"

Long hours (10-12 hrs) and should be ready to respond to emergency needs (I had to take conference calls at the height of Ondoy)

Occassionaly, you have to be the bearer of bad news (e.g: firing people - not as fun as many would think...esp in the Phils)

  2. Sorry to hear that dude, I'm mahal ka talaga ng casino.

My rule in those places is to quit while I am ahead. It took a while to get used to it but its well worth the hassle of losing big.

Wow, ako na ata nagpagawa ng isang kwarto dto sa sobrang laki ng natalo ko.
  3. I also heard from the service technicians in Honda Alabang that they cost less to maintain due to less frequent and cheaper checkups.

Anyone here has an idea about its gas consumption?

The 2.0 variant has SOHC designs....

The 2.4 variant is the better deal considering it includes side airbags, 4x4, leather seats, 2-tone interiors, foglamps (HID), and a more powerful engine with just 200k Php difference,....IMHO

The side is rounder compared to the last.....no poker table....lots of cup-holders though....

  4. HAHAHAHA!!!

After reading this, nawala yung remorse na naramdaman ko after ko magtanggal ng 4 na tao kanina.

What do you know about the call center Industry?

Applicant: The call ctr. industry is booming out, side by side, somewhere else. (Huuuwhaaat?)

Applicant: The call center is a booming industry for the past few days and I want to become part of

    that boom! (sumabog ka sana!)

Applicant: It's easy to be a call center, just looks arounds you, that why i want to become a call

    center! (building ito!)

    Out of nowhere:

Applicant: Oh im sorry, i sit corrected. (oo nga naman, nakaupo sha eh!)

Applicant: Im afraid to dead. I feel that im not ready to die.

Applicant: I usually play PS2 at night when there is no loud.

Recruiter: You look familiar. I think i already spoke to you before? Do you remember when you were last here?

Applicant: I think months from now. (psychic ito!)

Recruiter: Why do you want to work in a call center?

Applicant: From Manila Bulletin. (ang gulo... i drug test nyo na to')

Recruiter: Ah okay, but my question is, why do you want to work here?

Applicant: Well, I graduated from CEU with a course of blahblah..... (out...out...out....)

    Applicant: I'm a work alcoholic.

Applicant: I'm the eldest and the only child in our family. (arrrgggghhh...ADIK KA!)

    Applicant: I'm a hardworking...(yes..please continue...)

  5. I agree with this post and those related to it. Everyone needs to understand that the jobs in a call center only adapts to the requirements/profle and even values of the account (the client who is outsourcing the service) concerned. There are accounts that offer tremendous growth opportunities since the client continuously grows the business with the cal center while there are others who seem to be dead end no brainers because that client has no further plans with the service.

As far as knowing which is which, I guess this is where the applicants will be able to help themselves. Ask your interviewers about the clients track record with the call center. have they been expanding regularly? How often do they make progressive changes? Have they always been offeriing the same service?

the search for a better account or a better job never ceases....as far as from my experinece goes with this industry.......its just a matter of seeing it in a different light and how you will live with the idea...it gets to be a no brainer but with the account i am with now the learning never cease or the updates...at some its good to always learn something new everyday.....;)

  6. Dude,

Relationships (kahit yung mababaw like wok rel'n) can and should only be worked out by confronting the person you don't like regarding what you don't like about him/her.

Mag resign ka, talo ka dahil ikaw pa nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa kany/kanila.

Maki sama ka without expressing what you really think/feel, mas talo ka dahil titiisin mo sila.

Tumahimik ka na lang, baka maloko ka, so make sure hindi ka hahawak ng baril.

  7. Dudes and Gals,

It is true, call center work is hard, the routine becomes similar to watching paint dry and the clients (both internally and he ones on the phones) are the biggest motherf*ckers on earth.

Which is why anyone who decides to work in this field must understand and accept that they will not have pleasant conversations with Americans for 8 hours. I pity the naive applicants who keep insisting to me how much they enjoy talking on the phone which is why sometimes I don't hire them to save them the trouble of realizing the truth.

I manage over 70 CSRs in my call center and having realized what they go through, I make it a point to make their work as pleasant for them as possible because at the end of the day, all of us still go home as the same person that we have always been. It doesn't matter what those pricks on the other line tell you, for as long as you know you are just doing your job and you don't let them get into your head, you logout and go home with a smile on your face.

Sometimes, we find so many reasons why we should leave our job and search for something better when all that really matters is a reason for us to stay with what we have and make the best of it. This is a lesson I learned, because I have only been working for 4 and a half years and I have always had a problem with authority, but it never made me leave what I was doing. It had me make the best of what I already have. 18 months ago, I kinda solved my problem because I finally became the boss. Most people will turn their back when things become unbearable but others bear it and they are the ones who are rewarded for their conquest.

My 2 cents regarding my experience with CC,

  8. My 2003 model has very minor glitches with its AC. The only one I encountered thus far is that the fan speed suddenly increases even if you do not change it. I also have instances of I do not get any air if I set my fan speed at level 2. Wierd nga but I don't think its not too much of a problem.

any crv owner who experienced problems with the air conditioner?

a few months ago, i had the airconditioning system of my crv practically replaced in full.  i changed the compressor, evaporator and condenser all at once since the compressor exploded contaminating the oil renderring the evaporator and condenser useless.  the service crew of sanden told me that i was the 4th 2002 crv owner who brought their unit due to compressor trouble.  apparently this is a common occurrence for 2002 models.  any of you guys experienced the same?

  9. Yeah, your right. I must've misinterpreted your post...thanks for the jetski info

dude, you got it all wrong....what I meant to mount on the roof is my bike (bisikleta).....Ive seen pictures of it....but none in banawe area has details on the accesories and mounting procedure......

sa jetski namn, Iam just asking maybe some here has some info......price ranges around 250-500k depends if its brand new and size of its engine.....There is also a towing procedure for CRV

  10. Dude, I believe the best way to move your jetski is to pull it rather than mount it on the roof. Baka mahirapan ang CRV pag nasas taas. I've seen bigger SUVs (a land cruiser) who used a wagon like device to mount the jetski and pull it like a trailer truck.

    Magkano ba jetski ngayon?

Does anyone of you have traded your stock stereo for a dvd player with monitor and stereo in 1? preferably japan made.......and medyo OT na to, but where is the best place to but a jetski?

  11. Dude I agree, siguro around the city with moderate traffic (the kind I encounter) it can take you a maximum of 9km to a liter (mine is the 2003 4X2).

If the price is right I'd go for a classy diesel na lang. Right now, what is very good is the Fortuner, 1.4m nga lang yung diesel, naka pila ako pero December pa ang earliest accoding to Toyota.

i need tip...buying a crv pero i've heard talgang nasa 6-7 km/li lang ang consumption? is this true? wud u advise me to go for diesele SUV/AUV na lang like the crosswind Xuvi?

  12. Sun Life Financial has the best track record of keeping satisfied clients and excellent service from its agents, Philam Life has the best variety among its products and offers great choices. I'd narrow it down to these 2 if my life depended on it (which is actually true :P )

Try getting an insurance broker (AON, Marsh, Jardine) for your non life insurance, let them figure out whats the best for you and your property.

  13. Hey guys, this is slightly OT, pero di naman ata. Anyone work for a BPO or Business Process Outsourcing unit? It's like being in a call center pero instead of taking in calls, backend job na data entry and data analysis ang ginagawa. That's my basic idea of it and that's what been described to me as well. I'd like to know more about it, kung paano yung work dun compared to a normal call center setting at paano yung metrics. Some CCs naman are starting to expand their operations to include BPO work na din. Anyone care to expound on BPOs?

This is so true; if we really look into it, the industry that the call centers belong to have existed long before the "First Call Centers" (Sykes, Etel..) set foot on Philippine soil. Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the real industry that Call Centers came from. Accenture (formerly Anderson's), Watson Wyatt, Mckenzie and Co. are just some examples of these companire who have been here since the early 90's. We may not hear them a lot since just like CCs, they also work in the background for both local or foreign clients. Ever wonder who made you company payroll system? time keeping? database? HRD information systems? even your company in-house training may have been started (or still currently being serviced) by a BPO company.

So don't think that Filipinos are walking in the dark with CCs since the idea behind this has existed longer than most people know. So why has it only made noise now? Its because the demand for Outsourced Customer Service is bigger than ever both here and (especially) abroad. In the US you hear of companies rightsizing (a fancy word for laying off) manpower to focus only on keeping employees that are directly affecting their core business. (Mainly product development, finance, sales and the like). The rest which are not considered part of the core are then outsourced (HR and IT projects, recruitment, triaining and yes...CUSTOMER CARE!) to save highly on fixed costs (ex. salary/benefits).

The fact of the matter is that, Call Centers (especially the right ones) are here to stay. It may be because of the need for CSRs now but it could later be IT professionals, HEadhunters and even medical experts (which is starting to blossom) in the future. If you are in he right BPO, hey know what they are doing and they understand wht the demand is, thus they will adjust their services accordingly. My tip to my fellow Call Center pips: "Be always open to change". Flexibiliy is what will keep your career in a call center (or to be politically correct: BPO) strong.

I hope I may have answered some questions about the true nature of this industry. Sorry I took so long guys/gals...now LOG IN!!!! :headsetsmiley:

  14. Even if this is baseless, I believe or should I say, I have observed from my previous CC experience that promotions are not quantified based on your performance and knowledge.. its more of a 'who-you-know' thing... our American trainers before were very fair with promotions but now..their Filipino counterparts are doing their 'Filipino' thing.. that is why I RESIGNED...

    :goatee:  :goatee:  :goatee:

Of course you will never know what goes on in the mind of the decision maker, as for me, I look at numbers and nothing else, I would not say this is baseless since I make decisions like these in my CC and to me, you either show me the numbers and be stuck where you are until you resign.

Yes filipinos have this thing about favoring people they know, I can also go into that but I'd probably ask for nothing short of your soul. . hehehe.

Which is why I would rather look at what is quantified, and favorable to the business or in simple terms, "whoever generates the most money in the best way possible". Thats what running a company is all about, everything else is secondary.

  15. It's up to the person on creating his "future" just like what xcholox has pointed out.

It's how someone carreer path's oneself that matters not the industry.

On the other hand, it's also good that a lot of people are hesistant in trying out working for a call center, this means less competition for those who are already in this line of business hehe..

hehe, but there is always plenty to go around. Remember, CCs earn by th number of people they have on the phones  so there is always room for someone who wants in. :headsetsmiley:

  16. question lang what are the benifits ng call center employee? may future ba yan in the sense na aangat ka?

If you ask me I'll say yes! Outsourcing business is big savings for big US companies. And it only makes sense for them to continue doing so as competition gets stiffer.

Aangat ba ako, I would say yes too, I'm as old as some fresh grads out there but I have almost 100 people under me. The best thing about Call Center promotions is that its very quantified, you get promoted based on your numbers (performance) not someones decision, so in essence you do control your fate.

  17. what's there to envy? hmm....

we have a rather easy job that pays well

we are able to help customers

we can buy our own stuff

we can party anytime we want

we get to surf the net

we're always in an airconditioned environment

    we don't feel "useless"

we earn as much as or more than a normal breadwinner

"girls" ....can't get any better than this? :upside:

*With the current state of our economy...we're just thankful that us "human answering machines" have a good paying moral job.

also i think you've been misinformed, not everyone who works in a call center takes calls. research on the meaning of this.......

    *team leader

    *I.D coordinator

    *facilities manager

    *quality evaluator/assurance

    *I.T

    *etc.........

I'm in my early 20's and i can buy whatever I want, save up for those expensive stuffs & what's my position? I'm just a level 2 product specialist who gets around 4 calls maximum in 1 day & gets to surf the internet 80% of my stay in the office............ and what is my target now? to be like nine"

mind me asking? what do you do for a living? <_<

kidyot - AuX PeTiKs MoDe!!! BiSyO Na To!!!! :mtc:  :headsetsmiley:

Well said, but I think these guys have nothing againsts call centers, its common for people to criticize what they dont understand.

For those who are thinking of backing down on their applications, you may want to rethink that again. Because I dont see any way how you can get big rewards without making BIG sacrifices.

The one thing I agree with this industry is that people here get what they deserve (compensation-wise) for the work that they bring in. You think other industries compensate you well for the s**t you will get?

  18. pareng chipmaker mas may pressure operations manager.ako nga team leader.bihira na akong umuwi sa bahay ko.pero rewards malaki suweldo

Just put i his way chipmaker, with the amount of money they pay you, it was as if hey have bought your time.

How I approach it is that I make it a point not to stay longer than I have too. I may sometimes stay for 12-15 hours a day but I'd take 3 days off after that. The beauty of a management position is that your main function is be answerble to everything that your client and the big boss asks about your ops.

It can take long hours or maybe not but if you can go home and be confident that you are on top of everything, then I dont see any reason why you should extend that long. Same goes for TLs like tantantinin....just my 2 cents :headsetsmiley:

  19. True, brand does not matter. Its how comfortable you are with the clothes that count. Me, Im just your T-shirt, jeans and rubber shoes kinda guy (especially after wearing barongs and monkey suits all week to work).

But if I were to be brand conscious, Lacoste is probably the one that I can really feel good wearing. That clothing line is too classy yet casual.

  20. ei, yung mga taga makati dyan?

baka pwede nyo ako turuan kung saan malapit na motel...wag po hotel,

pang special events yun...pang lipas libog lang ba

I am not aware about the motels in makati..although I know there are a lot of apartelles here...but im not too comfortable in walking up front to an apartelle receptionists.

dude if your in makati try going to pasay, (lapit lang), pagbaba mo ng magallanes flyover from edsa, nasa right side just before Victory liner terminal, maliit na street lang so bagal ka lang. May anito inn doon (Econo for Ps 350) or try the one in front, yung suki ko, Millionaires...decent na rin standard is 500 lang (5 hours on a weekday, 3 on weekends) may discount pa on the 2nd visit, just ask for a card. I think they also have econo rooms that costs 250 lang.

    good luck
