  1. Fantasie Impromptu of Chopin

    Czardas

    Warsaw Concerto

    Moonlight Sonata - 3rd Movement

    The Barber of Seville

    Another trivia:

The music usually played during graduation is actually taken either from Aida or Carmen. It was the music played while the principal characters were going to their Death, an ending.

  2. I was listening recently to the Mozart Harp Concerto in D Major.

It sounded very familiar, like the ending song of all Queen concerts.

I think it was the basis of God Save The Queen / King, Great Britain's national anthem.

It's ironic for a lot of Britons do not know where their national anthem came from or who composed it.

    Mystery solved.

  3. when the Chevy Colorado was first announced, Chevrolet said it can wade up to 700mm of water.

then the new Ford Ranger was shown being tested in Australia. it was announced that it was designed to wade in water up to 800mm deep.

by the time the Colorado got here, Chevrolet said it can wade up to 800mm of water.

did they redesign / reengineer before the release? did they relocate the ECU to a higher place? if so, how was it done? was it just remedial engineering?

having said all of this, for me, the most reliable pickup is the Isuzu D-Max. tough and fuel-efficient.

the power output, 146 hp, may be a lot lower than the newer models of Nissan, Ford, Chevy, and Mitsubishi, but it still manages to carry on.

  4. Comparing the latest models now

I think the Camry has a bit of an edge against the Accord.

    The design looks more unified.

The problem with Honda is that they sat on their laurels for so long.

  6. was listening to mo twister on the radio 2 weeks back and he was complaining of his brand new vehicle having a busted taillight. when he went to the dealer to complain about this, he was told that that part wasn't available and that he should wait for 3-4 weeks while they ordered it. mo couldn't believe that he has spent millions of pesos for a brand new car and immediately, something gets busted. but what really aggravated the situation for him was the non-availability of the part.

to pacify mo, the people at the dealer consented to his suggestion that the part needed be taken from the same brand new vehicle sitting in their display. haha!

initially, mo didn't want to identify the make of his car. but after some prodding, he told his listeners that what he had was a 2010 expedition.

now a listener also called and said the same sad experience they had with their new expedition- after just 2 months, the vehicle breaks down. after bringing it to the casa, ford informs them that the part needed was unavailable and needed weeks to deliver. wtf?! i just couldn't recall who reported their dilemma with ford first- mo or the caller.

having heard that, i don't know what to make of ford. afterall, my best bud has had 2 everests, one after the other, and swears by them. it's probable that the u.s. assembled fords are lame and the asian assembled ones are well built.

It's probable that the parts from the US are not shipped by air. So it takes a longer time getting the parts here. There's also the forex and tax complications since the parts are from the US.

The pickup and Everest are from Thailand, as well as the Fiesta, I think.

I'm not sure if the Focus is being assembled here.

  7. 170 kph using a diesel SUV.

When traffic was a little bit better, I drove in 6 hours from Laoag to Manila (about 486 km) using an owner jeep with a Toyota 3K engine.

I thought it wouldn't happen again. A few months ago I was able to drive the same route, about the same time, this time using a dieasel Toyota Innova.

Usually, Laoag to Manila is about 8 - 9 hours.

The fastest I drove NLEX, from Dau to Balintawak, was 30 minutes using an owner jeep powered by a Toyota 3K engine. This was before NLEX was improved.
