    JUMPER

Have you seen the cool special effects in their movie trailers? Everything was just pure "WoW!" and I started to wish I could JUMP inside the moviehouse as sson as this movie hit the local theaters. Seeing how I wasn't able to JUMP, I did the next best thing: buy a THX ticket on the first day of showing. Yeah! With my trusty popcorn in one hand and a cold softdrink in another, I was ready as can be for the ultimate JUMP.

Then, as soon as the movie started, I somehow JUMPED to the end. WTF?! It's finished already?!

The whole plot and storyline seemed to have a lot of potential: teleportation, an age-old conflict, teleportation, a smart alecky stranger, teleportation, an old crush, teleportation... you get the drift. But at the end of the movie, instead of leaving you astounded and boggled (which probably was their intention) you're simply left gasping for more, like a kid given half of a quarter of a candy instead of the whole lot. And I couldn't even figure out why the dumbass kept JUMPING and breaking all sorts of stuff but his apartment's always uber-hip and squeaky clean.

All in all, I think they could have done a better job here but after doing some research, it seems that they ran into all sorts of problems in filming, from injuries to manpower changes and yes, one person actually died during production. oh well. it could have been a lot better, the story could have been developed much, much further and the fight scenes could have been so much more. Nice effects, but that's all. Sayang.

Oh well. Let's all just wait for the game console edition then.

  2. indeed! very nice concept of copying blairwitch's... ganda kaso nga lng medyo bitin kasi they didnt show kung pano namatay(kung mamatay nga ba) yung monster... or is it another tease na may part 2?

I read somewhere that they are looking at several options on how to make Part 2. There's this one really cool option of doing Part 2 based on one scene in the original movie where there's ANOTHER guy holding ANOTHER camera. that means Part 2 could be nearly the same as Part 1 but from another voew point, perhaps unraveling some answers along the way.

Pretty cool, but personally, im not yet ready for another case of SCS "shaky cam syndrome".

  3. CLOVERFIELD

Uh, ah, where to start... Im still a bit dizzy from watching this movie.

I gotta admit, I watched this without any expectations at all. Didn't read about it. Didn't do my damn research before watching it. Hey, the movie's main pic involved a headless statue of liberty right? Let me guess... another Independence Day wannabe?

15 minutes into the opening sequence and I almost dozed off. There was this quirky little party being filmed using a pretty good handheld "videocam" and there was not a trace of an alien or a monster. Damn, I must have entered the wrong cinema!

Of course, the plot didnt stay that way and there was this creeping feeling inside of me that the video cam is gonna go all shaky throughout this film. And I was sitting three rows from the front.... Talk about bad luck. Then MY bad luck sort of "rubbed" into the movie's main characters and they all die one after the other. Oh shoot, did I just spoil it right here?

Anyways, it's an interesting movie that lets you think for yourself while watching the characters fiddle around with the videocam. Me? I just thought, "well, I didn't know JJ Abrams was a Blair witch fan!". Good thing the main characters didn't have a high-powered weapon with them or I would have thought, "hey, I didn't know JJ Abrams was a fan of Doom!"

All in all, it's an interesting movie, with some cool special effects sprinkled into some really cool scenes (critters and all). I looked up some more info on the net and it seems they're thinking about a sequel this early. Whoa. Should I even begin to talk about The Blair Witch Project 2?

Catch it for yourself but stay away from the front rows. Don't say I didn't warn you.

    BEOWULF

Just a few minutes into the film and I was already horrified. OMG, I must have walked into a Shrek Re-run!!!!

Of course, my fears turned quickly into curiousity and finally into that brooding, pseudo-critical mood of mine. Hey, I already paid my THX dues, might as well enjoy it!

Anyway, the plot was simple and well tied. In th original Beowulf lore, a lot of it is kinda loose and subject to so many different interpretations anyway but this movie was able to put up its own take on Beowulf without taking away the spirit of Beowulf. He was strong, brave, powerful and all that but he came out with his own set of weaknesses that eventually became the central point of the story. That was the part I appreciated the most.

Of course, it didnt hurt that the effects were really stunning. But call me old fashioned, I still would have preferred the old way of doing it: a lot of action scenes with a sprinkling of CG.

    HITMAN

I probably had high expectations for this movie. The premise was simple but interesting: a trained assassin on the loose, serving his own a la carte mix of bullets, explosives and raw fisticuffs. Hey, I noticed at least 98% of the crowd came from the male species. I dunno, it should have been at least a good action movie. I wasn't looking for an Oscar winning performance or a critically acclaimed plot. Just something along the line of Die Hard 4.0 or the Bourne Ultimatum would have been nice...

But it wasn't meant to be. Poor scriptwriting and loose storyline, mixed with a lot of bald guys and, hey, you get the drift. As for the lead character, I guess he tried to but he's clearly not yet ready for this type of role. Many times I wished they cast Vin Diesel or Bruce Dilis and it would have been much, much better.

The movie's only saving grace was the fine showing of Ms. Olga. Smallish and perky, you just gotta see it, i mean her, and enjoy her performance, even for a short while.

Sayang. It's not a movie I can recommend. There's just too many flaws and nothing much to look forward to. And no, Bret Hart isn't in this movie.

  6. Watched "Rogue Assassin" aka "War"

Huge disappointment. Having both Jet Li and Jason statham in a movie guarantees a great action film... not! Sayang. They should have had a better director or at least a crew that can come up with HK style fighting sequences. Or a better script for that matter. Except for the fact that Li and Statham were in this film, everything else, literally, was chaotic.

A big letdown for a huge Jet Li fan like myself.

  7. For the Second Time, an Auditor from Punongbayan & Araullo topped the worldwide CIA Exams.

Apple took the exams last May 2007.

Dutchess, our previous topper, took the exams last December 2005.

Wala pang 2 years, dalawa agad ang na-produce namin! :goatee:

It is really quite an achievement and a testament to the Firm's staunch support for its staff taking the exams. I just hope she wont go the way of Duchess who, after topping the exams, switched the last letter of her employer from P&A to P&_.
