  1. yes sir i used XS++ to downgrade it. can you suggest a SE authorized service center? i guess that's the only way to go. but nag back read ako and hindi maganda feedback eh.

    hey 314,

there is a new version of XS++ released just this weekend, the version number is 1.6.7 and it seems it supports finalization/customization already. i think this will be able to solve your problem. why don't you try it.

    good luck!

  2. yes sir i used XS++ to downgrade it. can you suggest a SE authorized service center? i guess that's the only way to go. but nag back read ako and hindi maganda feedback eh.

yung phone ko dinala ko dun sa may glorietta, they were not able to fix it.

si shiela, dinala yung phone nya dun sa may galleria, they were able to fix her phone there.

you may call sony ericsson and asked them which is the nearest SE service center sa location mo.

    i hope this helps.

  3. yes sir i already read about "mistmatch". but the problem is my place is very far from him. hehe. i am from manila kasi.

update: i successfully downgraded my firmware na as indicated by my phone (R1JC002) but the xs++ says it is R1JG001. bakit ganun? then, meron pa error menu.ml ko. <_<

    hmmmm....

how did you downgrade your firmware? using XS++? why don't you use other software, such as KulanKendiClient, to read your phone information, just to confirm the version of your firmware.

as for your menu.ml error, baka you can only correct this error using customization/finalization (which is not currently supported by XS++ v1.5). or as i have said, why don't you try an SE authorized service center, baka kayanin nila. shiela's phone was fixed with that method.

  4. sir bat sabi sakin kaya naman flash CID52 basta yung main firmware lang. pag yung file system yun daw bawal. yung menu.ml ko kasi nag ka error eh. mga peeps wag niyo iupdate yung firmware R1KG001. siya latest as of now pero siya rin buggy. dami raw nag ka error dahil dyan sa firmware na yan. :(

well, you can always try it at your own risk. and if it doesn't work, just prepare your P3,500 and look for "mistmatch" (please do some backreading in this thread on how my phone was revived).

or as a first option, you may want to bring it to an SE authorized service center. it will only cost you a little over P300 pesos for the firmware update, i think. they may be able to fix it, like what happened to shiela's phone.

i think you are correct in saying that the R1KG001 is very buggy. this was the firmware version on my phone (updated thru SEUS) when my phone died (WOSD - white screen of death). i am not sure if this was also the version in shiela's phone when she got an error and needed to bring it to the SE service center for some firmware update. can you please confirm if shiela?

currently, when my phone was fixed, mismatch downgraded the firmware version to R1JG001. i won't be using SEUS to update my firmware anymore.

  5. I downloaded this application this afternoon and I'm HOOKED!

Now everytime I'm infront of a PC, I make sure that my phone is connected to this application

everytime you received a SMS, you will received a notification in your PC screen, just like an incoming email from outlook

and you can reply using your PC

best of all, all your contacts, files will copied and synchronized to the application

and you can back up it, anytime

the SMS capacity of a K800i is 1,000 msgs

with this application, you dont need to delete a single SMS, EVER!!!

you can archived all your sent and received msgs

    VERY COOL!!!!!

great! i'm glad you liked it, and i'm happy to be of help to other members here.

this is what the forum is all about - sharing.

i am using it too for quite some time now. continue to enjoy using it.

OTP CID is 49 and EROM CID is 52. EROM color is red.

there is no FREE way to do it as of now.

    OTP = one time programmable

EROM CID is the software protection. XS++ does not support flashing/custimization of CID 52 phones. don't flash it, otherwise you will get "configuration error. contact your...." problem and your phone will be unusable.

  7. how does it work? so red/orange ang light na lalabs? ndi ba pde white?

yes, the light is red/orange if you use torch.

there is another application in the same link above, called light, you can use this instead. it turns your whole screen into white and keeps it illuminated.

    hope this helps.

  8. magkano kaya pa-openline ng k800i natin?

    bro,

if the software protection of your phone is still CID 49, you can do it by yourself using available FREE software.

but if the protection is already CID 52 (updated by SEUS, most probably), then it will be expensive.

if you want to know the CID of your phone, you can download XS++ or KulanKendi Client. Just Google them, or if you have troubles finding them, i can email them to you.

    regards.

  10. help pow...just last 2 weeks ago, i noticed na hindi n ngreregister ung mga cols ko (incoming, outgoing, missed cols). d n ngaapir s list ko. den pumunta akong service center,sb software upgrade lng dw. i tried it at home, but nothing happend. ive emaild d support team, and i havent heard from them yet. watz d best thng 2 do asyd from my last resort--- getting it bak to the service center and leaving it for 1 day to b fixd! haaayyyyy.....

try a master reset. but before you do anything, please back-up your data (phone numbers, files, etc.) first.

  11. OK, here is the 2nd part of the post....

After I made it sure that all the functions of the phone are working, I paid the agreed amount. There goes my P3,500, which I could have used to buy that mizuno hybrid club for sale at the other site. But I am really happy and excited about it.

So, I had a talked with this "mismatch" about what happened.

The cause of the problem was really the buggy software of SE. One of the sofware updates has a bug, he can not identify it to me. And it caused a lot of problems to a lot of SE owners who updated their firmware with the SEUS.

In addition to this, according to him, when you update your phone's firmware thru SE (SEUS or any other SE method), it tries to lock the phone and put a higher software protection to it. That is what happened to my phone, he said. Before, the original protection was CID 49, but using several times SEUS to upgrade the firmware, the protection became CID 52 <-- this is currently the highest protection for SE phones (just dont mind those numbers, it will take us another page if I try to explain those).

Why is SE doing this? They got pissed! Many people in Europe created software tools to crack their phones, and given those software away for free. Their firmware, new and old, can also be found in many sites. People used these free tools/software to upgrade their phones, to "debrand", to open line, and to upgrade by themselves! Now, the last one is interesting - to upgrade! This means upgrading their old units to function as the new phones, by just changing the firmware/software inside the phone. For example, a K750 can be upgraded into a W800 without changing anything in the hardware!

Oh, and the Russians! Apparently, the server that was used by mismatch to fix my phone was owned and operated by the Russians. People here buy some credits from those servers, to be able to do some fixing, i.e. open line. For simple things such as "open line", they just connect the phone to their PCs, then connect to the servers in Europe, then hit the correct button and everything goes well. But for serious problems, such as mine, the Russians do it themselves while the phone is connected to the guy's computer here and that computer connected to the Russian server. Mismatch connected my phone to the Russian server 5:00pm the day I brought it to him, and while he was asleep, the Russians were cracking my phone so that they can install the needed software. When he woke up, he could see that software is being downloaded to my phone... At around 4:00pm, everything was completed. So I asked him, why did you say you needed 48 hours? Sagot - "e sir, minsan kasi nag gu-goodtime yung mga russians na yan e! para lang sigurado, kaya sinabi kong 48 hours."

So, his advice? Never to upgrade my firmware again using the SE tools.

Now, its up to you if you will follow his advice. As for me, I believe him at this time.

Again, I do hope you pick something useful, you learn something from this experience.

It was one hell of a month, but I love my K800i again!

  12. Hello K800i lovers!

My phone is back and alive again, the Russians cracked it!

As I posted here, SE service center was not able to do it. They sent it to their "higher level support", but even them can not fix it. They said they can not figure out the problem, so they wanted to change the whole board and charge me like P11,000+. I told them I am asking them to fix my phone and I am not buying a new one.

I did a lot of research online, trying to find a solution....but most pointed me to the same answer - there is no available software to do it at this time. There were about 2 sites who it seems can fix this kind of problem, for pay. But even that is not assured, and I did not want to risk my credit card number, so I did not avail.

In my research for answers, I found a lot of interesting stuff about SE phones (since my search is focused on an SE phone, my K800i).

So, after 2 weeks with SE's "higher level support", they qouted me with the amount I stated above, so I pulled it out instead. Then I tried to look for someone who can repair it....the usual suspects inside the malls or some tiangge who are "specialists" in this trade. The first 3 did not accept it. Their reasons: "sir, di ko kaya yan, mataas protection ng software nyan", "sir, hanggang open line lang ang kaya ko sa ganyang phone", "sir, mukhang ibang klase yang problem ng phone mo, di pa ako naka encounter nyan".

Actually, I believed them. Because from my research, that was what I found out. Newer SE phones have higher software protection. If only its an old model, I can already crack it myself with the software tools I downloaded. So, they did not want to waste their time because they know, it can not be done.

Then the 4th one.... he did not accept it too, but told me...bring it to "mistmatch" in the xxxxx store there at the xxxxx department store, he has complete tools for SE phones. Sounds encouraging.... but I had my hesitations. But nothing to loose anyway, so I went to this "mismatch". He looks like the "warlock" in Die Hard 4, without the beard. He told me in a very confident voice, P3,500, 48 hours. I tried to negotiate, but to no avail. He said he will also pay much to fix it. I was skeptical, especially for the part that he needed 48 hours. Because from what I've researched, things like this get fixed in less than 1 day. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking that my phone's case is special. With the condition that I won't pay a single cent if he will not be able to fix it, I agreed to the price.

After 24 hours, I got a text from him...."sir, gawa na phone mo, daanan mo dito mamaya". And so I went, and yes, my phone is working, exactly 1 month after it went dead! Long live the Russians!

OK, this one is too long, so I will cut it here and make another post para di masyado mahaba.

  13. I've been a SOLID Ericsson-user right from the start. B) Thanks for the eye-opener! :boo:

Good luck with your K8! :)

    thanks.

well, before this incident, i was really a happy man with my k800.

before this unit, my phone was a k700i. i was happy with it too.

i accidentally dropped it several times.

1 time, i dropped it and the back cover and the batter even got disintegrated, but still, the phone did not have any problem.

  14. hello fellow k800i owners/users.

i just want to share what happened to my k800i more than a week ago.

it went dead on july 1, 2007, while i was texting. it entered what they call the "white screen of death" or WSOD.

i bought it in one of the stores inside alabang town center in january, so no more warranty.

after sending a text message, it went off by itself.

when i tried to power it on, all it did was to show a flashing white screen.

i tried to turn on/off the phone for several times, but same result.

i tried re-charging the battery, or remove the battery and turn it on while the charger is plugged in, but same result.

so the next move was to try to update the software/firmware via SEUS.

firware update was successful, or so i thought...but when i turned it on, same result - flashing white screen.

the next day, i tried to research over the net, and that's the time i found about this WSOD problem.

it's a problem of several SE phones, not only k800, such as k750, w800, etc.

i also found a solution that worked for some users, flashing thru wotanserver.

i tried it several times, but it was also unsuccessful.

i looked at this forum, and found shiela's post about bringing it to an SE service center to replace/re-install the firmware.

i brought it to the SE service center at glorietta 3, they tried firware update, but they were unsuccessful too.

they told me they need to bring it to higher level support, but it will take 3 weeks before i could know what is wrong.

so, since i was already impatient, i brought it to one of the repair shops at the park square 2 (it was actually recommended by the shop where i bought the phone). the guy said they are using better and more powerful software tools than the ones being used by SE service centers and there were cases wherein SE sevice center could not fix the problem but they were able to. so, there is hope, i thought. i brought it there wednesday of last week, but until now, a week later, the repair thru software is still unsuccessful... he tried all he could to update the firmware using different software tools, but he said that it always fail. he said that it seems the firmware is not saving on the phone's ic memory. so, it could be a hardware problem daw. he doesn't want to open the hardware though because he said availability of parts is a problem for SE phones.

so i will pick my phone later, unrepaired....

maybe i will just bring it to SE service center and wait for the 3 week diagnostics...

    any idea guys?

one thing is for sure, with this experience, i will no longer buy any SE phone from now on, and will tell everyone i know about my experience. when i brought it to the SE service center, the people there said there is a charge of P330 for the firware update becuase i bought it from a store that is not an SE authorized dealer. well, it was not about the money, but i argued. i told them that the problem is a known problem of their phone. it's a software quality problem, not because the phone is old, or misused or i bought it somewhere. i told them a case wherein i bought a canon digital camera from another country. that cam has a known problem in its ccd, so canon posted an announcement in their website that anyone who has the phone can bring it to any canon repair center and they will fix it for free, without the need of any document (i.e. warranty card, OR, etc.). sure enough, when i encountered the problem, i brought it to the canon service center in makati, and they repaired it for free. that my friend is what you call real customer service and good corporate social responsibility!

sorry about the long post but i hope you get something positive out of it.

  15. hi guys,

    question po...

before, i use a digicam (video mode) to capture/record my golf swing, then analyze it using my swing analyzer software. during the weekend, while playing, i recorded my swing using my k800i....actually the shots were great, played them a few times and the quality was really good. but when i got home and tried to read the files using my swing analyzer software, i found out that the format is not supported by the software.

the format of the video taken using the k800i is 3gp, while my swing analyzer software can only read avi or wmv files. is there a way to convert the 3GP file format into AVI?

    thanks and regards.

  16. hot darn! it won't accept mp3 files...that i dunno why?

tried dragging and dropping via file manager, midway through the process

it stops and says it can't continue...those that are in the phone btw are aac files

which came bundled with the phone...so my earlier question of conversion?

the manual says nothing about doing so...the on-line help is a mess...so might as

well kick my shoes and play with the phone until i figure it out...

thanks bubuy for the assist! :thumbsupsmiley:

you can use the "Sony Disc2Phone" program in the Sony Ericsson PC Suite (installation CD is bundled with the phone when you buy it). in fact, by using this program, you can even directly copy music from audio CDs to your K800i (the program will do the converting from the analog format (from the CDs) to mp3 formats to your phone).

just make sure you have enough space in your phone/memory card.

    i hope this helps.

  17. Glad to be of help ;) Pero di ko talaga alam kung bakit di mo nakikita yung dialled & missed calls mo

Thanks also for looking up the price of the M2 for me ;)

    Hi shiela,

report on the M2 prices at 168...

my cousin checked about 8 stores selling cell phones and accessories (including memory cards), only 3 are carrying M2. masyado pa daw bago so most of them are not yet selling it. the prices for the 512Mb from those 3 shops are P2000, P2200, P2400. in the store that sells the 512Mb at P2000, they are also selling the 1Gb daw at P3000!

a friend of mine will be going to japan within this week for about 2 weeks. i will ask him to check the prices there, which i think are less expensive (especially that the peso is getting stronger versus yen). i need to buy 1 for myself anyway. i will inform you pag ok yung prices dun.

regarding my problem on the "not recorded missed calls and answered calls"....

i think i was able to get to the bottom of the problem (root cause), so this could be a part of our knowledge base/lessons learned list here.

yesterday, i tried experimenting by changing sim cards to isolate the problem and to know if it's really a problem of the new phone (K800i)...it turned out, IT IS NOT! my sim card was full! when i changed my phone, i transfered my important messages and "SAVED" them. apparently, when you "SAVE" a message, it is stored in the sim card, not in the phone's memory. that left no room to record the "missed and answered calls". calls history are also being saved in the sim card, not in the phone's memory. when i deleted several "SAVED" messages from my sim card, and tried again my phone, hayun na-record na lahat - answered, dialed, missed!!!! ang saya ano? hehehe

i hope all of us can keep this kind of sharing of information...let is this build this knowledge based of tips, techniques, lessons learned, etc.

    regards to all.

  18. To check the firmware of your phone, just press Menu then Settings. On Settings, it'll open to the General Tab. Scroll down to Update Service then Software version. Then if you want to update your firmware over-the-air, choose Search for Update :D

On your PC, go to this link:

    http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=ph&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1_3_1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10407&fid=21839&esi=true

Just follow the instructions you'll see on the screen & make sure you have load if you're using a prepaid sim to cover GPRS charges ;-)

    Hi Shiela,

Thank you very much for the quick reply. My phone does not have the "Update Service" and "Software Version" functions in the General Tab. Im not sure if this is because I havent configured the phone to connect to the internet. But I checked the website you posted, downloaded the software and upgraded my phone software thru it. Ang bilis nga e. But still, I dont know the firmware version of my phone.

How about my problem of the phone not registering the "dialed" and "missed" calls, anyone knows about this, or can help me about this problem?

Shiela, on your earlier post about the cheap 512Mb M2 at 168, a cousin is going there today. I will ask her to check it
