  1. i personally think naeexaggerate ang AH1N1. most of those infected only contracted mild symptoms no different from the usual flu. ngayong rainy season, we should be more concerned about dengue and leptospirosis. on a side note, even more people are dying from complications of hypertension and diabetes.

    just stating an opinion. :)

  2. baka inuulit ko lang opinions ng mga docs dito...so let me just express my opinion in a somewhat rougher way, parang wake-up call kumbaga, hehe. pasensya lang medyo disorganized.

first, look into yourself and ask yourself why you went to medical school in the first place. if you really want to be a doctor, maybe na off-focus ka lang ng kaunti. search your reasons, no matter how selfish they may be. whether we really want to halp people, or kahit papogi lang, find the reason that works out for you and never lose sight on the goal. Medicine does not end after clerkship. you have to take internship and will still have to pass the boards. if you really have to take time out to recuperate from stress, do so, pero supplement this with light reading at first then increase your pace gradually. kakalawangin ka talaga kung di ka tuloy-tuloy mag-aral.

As to benign vs. toxic internship, ang masasabi ko lang, you'll see more cases in government hospitals (which are usually the toxic internship). so i guess lamang ka sa clinical experience after internship kung magpractice ka na as GP. kung ikukumpara, sa 1 year internship sa government hospital ay parang naginternship ng 5 years sa private hospital. pero lamang ka lang if you're willing to learn from your patients. otherwise, walang advantage ang internship mo. para ka lang robot, nothing gained, all work.

in contrast, kung nasa private hospital ka, you will have more time to study since sa sobrang busy ng gov't hospital ay malamang na kulang lagi ang oras mag-aral, and this will somewhat compensate for the lesser clinical material available to you. lilinawin lang natin na reading will not fully compensate for clinical experience. and conversely, ang malaking clinical experience mo will also not compensate for not reading, nor is it an excuse.

pasensya, wala akong maibigay na choice for you. anyway, you should be the one to weigh and decide the options. advice lang ito. hehe. basta ang bottomline, it's ok to travel the easy path, just be sure na ang reason mo for doing this is NOT katamaran. hope this helps. good day!

  3. just be cautious in taking multivamins..if you have balanced diet naman it should be taken in moderation..and also be cautious in taking single vitamin/mineral supplements such as calcium...overdose of such may lead to certain medical conditions...for info regarding vitamins Vit B and C are said to be water soluble vitamins meaning they are constantly used and expelled by the body everyday so supplements are advisable in contrast to vitamin A, D, E, and K wc are fat soluble vitamins wc is more likely to cause overdose because any excess of such is known to be stored in fatty tissues.

    sakto...

not everyone would actually need supplements. ako personally i don't take any. usually a balanced diet is all you need.

there are lots of supplements out there na wala pang substantial proof na they work. kaya at the end of certain commercials or in the bottles themselves you see statements like "no approved therapeutic claims". so the stuff you take may be a waste of money. <_<

even for vitamin supplements such as vitamin C, you are actually taking these vitamins at least 15x their recommended daily dose or allowance (RDA). I mean, you already get vitamin C from fruits and juices. AFAIK, wala pang convincing study on beneficial effects of megadoses of vitamin C (in boosting the immune system or preventing certain cancers) at least it's more readily excreted than other vitamins/minerals

some of the vitamins/minerals when taken in doses that exceed the body's needs can actually change your skin color. that's the least of it, considering that some could actually cause your glands/bones/metabolism to go haywire.

    everything in moderation lang po...

  4. not worth the risk, aside from the ethical reasons...

doesn't look good either immediately after the operation...parang robot na may metal protrusions sa legs/thighs, not to mention the scars...

elevator shoes ka na lang... :upside:

The knowledge and technology is available in our country - limb lengthening via the surgical principles of distraction osteogenesis by the methods of Ilizarov, that is. There are orthopedic surgeons here who are trained in the technique and who apply it to their patients regularly. It is usually done on patients who need limb lengthening for whatever functional reason - an accidnt involving bone loss, infection, or congenitally deformed extremities. The only thing is, one who will want it done for cosmetic reasons only may be hard pressed to convince the surgeon to do it since the few orthopedic surgeons for ethical reasons.
