SSC (Shawarma Snack Center) in R. Salas St., Ermita. The place is between the corner MH del Pilar and R. Salas and the corner of Mabini and R. Salas. They also serve authentic Mideast cuisine (the owners bring in their spices from abroad) at good prices (special beef shawarma around 60 bucks).

Their motto: You can't eat just one. And we've been eating more than one in this place since 1990.

Dinner buffet at Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu goes for P550 per. Wasn't able to sample it though, as my hosts took me to another place, but was able to eyeball the spread: quite good-looking and extensive variety considering the price.

Majestic also in Cebu City: Chinese buffet (with duck) at around P300 (less pa yata; couldn't recall the exact price) per.

For me the best steak is always cooked at home. yum.

Agree rin ako dito. It takes just a little practice to get the doneness right, pero once you master it, steak at home is really the best!!! I love the marbling of a good ribeye steak.

Although not a steak house, Portico (one of the restos of the Chateau 1771 group) has a good, flavorful tenderloin steak.

The Saisaki steak in the buffet tastes better if you get it fresh from the teppan (especially if rare-medium rare). Pwede namang i-request sa naggi-grill sa teppan.

Another good Chinese buffet is at Fishing Village (Padre Faura cor. Roxas Blvd). They have lunch buffet (11-2) for PhP395 (400+ on Sundays) and dinner buffet which I haven't tried yet. The Peking duck (part of the buffet) is quite good (the wrapper isn't dry and is a bit sweetish: good contrast to the duck and sauce).

Amen to that!!! Salt-and-pepper baked calamares are savory and tender. Pati softdrinks and iced tea drink-all-you-can din.
