  1. That is TRUE. Its better to change oil religiously every 5000kms using mineral oil than extending oil changes to 10,000kms using synthetics. Mas mura pa.

Although the oil companies don't want you to know this.

As the engine designer of Honda says: "OIL IS NOT WHISKY, YOU DON"T HAVE TO BUY THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE. JUST FOLLOW REGULAR MAINTENANCE AS WHAT IS WRITTEN IN YOUR MANUAL"

Gotta back these comments up 100%...it's the same advice I give to my friends and anybody who asks.

In fact, in fairness to the "Big3" Oil cos., it was the same advice I used to give out to customers as a former Technical Engineer for one of them!

It's all about freshness/cleanliness...for example, after running your engine on any type of 'synthetic' oil for 5000 km., it will always be better to have fresh, clean mineral oil to replace it than synthetic oil that's already been used for 5000 kms.

    Hope this helps! :)

  2. First of all, let me come clean and state for the record that I am a Mitsubishi Fanatic :thumbsupsmiley:

That said, let me sing the praises of the Mitsubishi L200 series.

I know, I know...I'm being hopelessly retro and there are many experts who can argue effectively that there are many newer, more advanced pickups out there with better features, performance, etc., and of course I respect their opinion, as well of those from fans of other brands and makes.

But regardless of such conventional wisdom, let me just say that ever since my first L200 in 1991, I couldn't be happier with the model's reliability, ease of maintenance and low-cost operation. Just feed it with oil and other consumables at the required interval, and like the energizer bunny, it just keeps going, and going, and going...

I enjoyed owning it so much that when the time came to replace my '91, I got another brand-new unit with the exact, same color!! Every body thought I was crazy, but I knew better!

I just wanted to write this to honor the faithful and reliable steeds which have carried me and my loved ones safely to work and play for almost two decades now.

    Cheers! :thumbsupsmiley:

  3. Wow!

Was pleasantly surprised to know that there's a section for Mitsu fans like me here at MTC!

Been a Mitsubishi fan since my first car, a 2nd-hand bright-red 4-door '73 Dodge (Mitsubishi) Colt with the classic 1600 "Saturn" engine which I hotted up mildly to 'GS' standards with hi-comp pistons, polished intakes, SMT 4-into1 headers, a "Cam-4" camshaft, 5-speed tranny and a low-ratio rear-end. Tuned for top end rather than acceleration, I remember driving that car filled with friends and baggage up to Baguio and she was able to keep up with a spiritedly-driven Merc 230E from the NLE all the way up Kennon!!

Man, I miss that car...Since then, I've driven a Lancer Box-type, and has been a fanatical L200 devotee for well over a decade now.

    Anyway, GO MITSUBISHI!!!
