  1. the only Heaven & Eggs Ive seen lately is at glorietta next to breadtalk and Tony Roma's. It seems to have rebranded itself as a rock & roll themed resto abbreviated as "H&E"..interiors are dark and a cross between gothic & grunge. But food is still pretty good.

For good steak, I agree that Elbert is still one of the best choices. I like US Prime beef better than wagyu, I also like the steak at gaudi & mamou's.

  2. i echo the sentiments of the rest.

online airline promos are the best (versus booking with a travel agency).

book early and don't bring check in baggage.

it always pays to travel light. (even if you're staying a week, how much clothing do you need if you're going to the beach? not much. bring a big backpack, but leave room for pasalubong.)

you can also save about P200 on your ticket, (indicate this when booking online) and you have an express lane when checking in at the airport. you'll be so glad you did. :)

    recommended airlines:

    - cebu pacific

    - philippine airlines

go to their websites and check out the rates..weekdays will fetch you the best rates. :)

  3. Siyanga pala walang atm duon at credit card kaya magdala ka ng cash.

Yung isa naming kasama dati credit card ang dala gutom ang inabot

    d nga...

pareng gyobags, ala bang atm dun? pti credit card d pa pwede?

the first time i went to puerto galera last february, there weren't any ATM's. after 4 days there, we ran out of money to continue our misadventures. so we ended up using the last of our cash to rent motorcycles to head to Kalapan (which was the nearest place that had an ATM at the time). It was a good one hour drive along slippery (it was raining) moutainous roads. its a good thing we didn't die. hahaha..

but i hear that they now have an ATM somewhere in puerto galera.. :)

maybe gyobags or someone who's been there recently can confirm.

  4. My GF and I went to Boracay last July and fly with Cebu Pacific to caticlan. It was a great vacation. When we're all ready to go home, Cebu Pacific cancel the flight to Manila and start to transfer us to Kalibo airport. The counter lady told us that the plane had some minor technical problem and it on't be ready for todays flight. It was unexpected or should I say that a friend who happens to experience the same situation had warn us about this incident and we were hoping that It will not happen to us.

Anyway, what I think is that the Cebu Pacific is trying to save on fuel by flying only planes on full load. I also think that the plane in caticlan was probable half full, so all passengers in caticlan were sent to Kalibo. It so happen that caticlan and kalibo are nearby airport so they can do a quick transfer and save a few bucks.

It was a bad experience. I was in a hurry to go back to Manila for a business meeting.....

    that was lesson learned.....

what i heard is caticlan flight is less hassle than the kalibo airport kaya mas mura sa kalibo...
Right now, if ur flying, limited kung ano pa hindi booked on what days.

'got to make up your mind now, sorry for the info.

Regardless kung anong airport, come-in as early as you can, and leave as late as you can. Kung sa Kalibo ka, may hour drive (I think) to consider.

Caticlan still the best, kung limited ang time mo.

    Goodluck.

    hey, thanks for the replies.

i asked around and searched for the best flight/s.

i decided to fly into boracay via caticlan (cebu pacific) and then fly back to manila via kalibo (philippine airlines).

all in all, it's only going to be less than P24,000 round trip for 7 people! :)

    booking online is great..

for those going to boracay, you can save a couple of thousand of pesos if you book online and ahead of time.

if you don't mind an extra 1.5 hour bus ride from kalibo to caticlan, then i'd recommend finding a cheaper flight to kalibo. but if you're pressed for time, then caticlan is your best bet.

  5. Hi guys.

i'm going to boracay this december with the family. I have already booked a place to stay and I am just working on the travel arrangements.

I'd like to limit our travel expenses so we have more to spend in Boracay.

i'm undecided whether to fly in through kalibo or caticlan.

flights to Kalibo are slightly cheaper, but i think the trade off is that you'll spend almost an hour and a half going from kalibo to the caticlan port (before taking a boat to boracay).

to the people who have already been to boracay: how did you get there? what would you recommend?

    thanks in advance. :)
