  1. Hello r.dean,

Any suggestions for clinics in the Fort Bonifacio, Makati area? Alternatively, Sucat and Alabang would be relatively convenient as well. Preferably with own labs and treatment facilities on site

    Thanks

  2. I vote for some classics like X-Com, Rome: Total War, Civilization series, Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far, Betrayal at Krondor. Would play those games even today.

  3. Actually he used that... plus his telephatic powers to summon a killer whale to land on top of subby...

I think he can. Hulk's power increases exponentially the angrier he gets. It's just rare that Hulk gets to utilise this power. The only reason he lost to Superman back then (i think) was because the Hulk that went up against Supes was still controlled by bruce banner...

Hell, if it's the Ultimates version of the Hulk, he'd probably try to EAT Supes.

  4. Oh yeah. I love that series. Captain America rocks! I liked that issue where he and Hank Pym had a man-to-man talk in the junk yard... heh heh...

Hahaha. That was cool. Or his comeback when fighting the bad guy?

"What do you think this "A" stands for? France?"

    That cracked me up.

  5. I like the "Ultimates" series of Marvel. Haven't been reading comics in a while but reading "Ultimates" of similar lines such as "Ultimate X-men" made for a refreshing take on old standbys like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Nick Fury and SHIELD, the X-Men and a whole lot of others.

Great storyline and artwork, particularly in the "Ultimates". And the flaws they wrote into the characters makes them more interesting. Anyone else read this series?

  6. Had eaten it before, and it so delicious! We used to get the meat from Makati Supermart and a place somewhere in Las Pinas. The meat, specially the leg part is lean and meaty (parang commercial ng Hotdog ah!).

Does anyone know a good place to get em? Yung close by lang ha! If not, even other exotic food place will do.

    Tnx.

I saw a bunny wabbit hopping along the yard a couple of weeks ago. Cottontail, if I'm not mistaken. :)

Now on to a ever so vaguely related note:

Read a copy of Maxim the other week, and they had a "How To" Guide. One of the topics was "How To Avoid Bunny Boilers". Hilarious!

  7. hey peeps! thanks for keeping the thread alive! :* been away for a bit... but im back! :boo:

i was in baguio recently and i was asked by a baguio-based acquaintance if wanted to taste dog meat... i said NO, i cant eat Bantay.

i learned that they actually "breed" dogs for cooking, especially in the highlands... dog meat is warm for the body when eaten and that's why they eat them... these are not like labs or dalmatians, or rots naman... local dogs that are cared for at home like how some of us raise poultry. for the highlanders, it helps them survive the freezing temperature... come to think of it, other than drinking gin, how can they survive the cold wearing strings diba? makes sense to me.

    :)

Hmm...doesn't drinking alcohol actually have the effect of reducing core body temperature?

  8. what is cconut crab?

    COCONUT CRABS

The coconut crab is a large edible land crab related to the hermit crab, and are found in the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans. They eat coconuts for a living! How would you like to be on an island and come across a crab that is more than 3 feet from head to tail and weighs up to 40 pounds, with a pair of large pincers strong enough to open coconuts! They can climb trees too, but they only eat coconuts that have already fallen to the ground. Coconut crab meat is considered a local delicacy.

parang ur trying to scare ma.. :(

parang i dont wanna know whats in the bottle... :(

You'll also want to ask for a salt shaker. Guiness, and most stouts like O'Douls, Murphy's etc, taste better when salted.

    this is interesting.

Here's an article I stumbled on just today on the MSN page. Happy drinking y'all!

Dark Beer May Be Better for the Heart

Flavonoids in Dark Beer May Help Prevent Blood Clots

Nov. 11, 2003 (Orlando, Fla.) -- The real beer argument is not "Tastes great" vs. "Less filling." It's dark vs. light, and the winner, according to a University of Wisconsin heart researcher, is dark brew because it can help prevent blood clots.

John D. Folts, PhD, professor of medicine and director of the coronary thrombosis research laboratory at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, tells WebMD that dark beer is rich in flavonoids, which have powerful antioxidant effects.

"It's about color. You can see the flavonoids in products on the shelf," he says. The rich flavonoid content makes red wine more heart friendly than white wine and purple grape juice a better choice for toddlers than white grape juice, he says.

Folts presented his dark beer-light beer study at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2003. Folts and his colleagues fed dark and light beer to dogs that had narrowed arteries in their hearts, similar to the narrowing observed in people with heart disease.

Only dogs fed dark beer had less stickiness of their blood clotting cells, says Folts. This was true even though the blood alcohol level in the dogs was the same.

He says he is currently conducting similar tests in humans. In that study, volunteers drink two bottles of either light or dark beer a day. Early indications are that dark beer again is more active at fighting blood clots than light beer, he says.

  11. I had a friend who went to a restaurant in China. It was a two story building, with the entrance to the restaurant via stairs on the outside of the building to the second floor. When my friend asked to see what was downstairs, he was taken to what was almost like a zoo, with chicken, snakes, pigs all sorts of critters...even a pony. When he asked what the heck the pony was for, the restaurant people asked him if that's what he wanted to eat.

Oh, and if you didn't know already. Investigators traced SARS to an open air market in China. Apparently the carrier species were exotic animals, civet cats (aka musang) and it jumped to humans after they were eaten.

  12. Way back in the 80s I tried:

    1) Roast wild pigeon (bato-bato I think was what they were called). Tasty, but a little tough to chew.

    2) A kind of fruit bat (kabog). Kinda gamey, wouldn't care to try it again.

Both of the above on the prinicple that if you shot it you gots to eat it.

    Recently:

    1) Bayawak from Crocodile Grill.

    2) Ostrich also from the same place

    3) Antelope Jerky (Gemsbok) courtesy of a friend visiting Africa.

    4) Deer shortribs (white tail deer I think) marinaded in a sweetish sauce.

  13. the reason why dc created crisis on infinite earths is to clean the dc universe, masyado na kasi saturated and doble doble pa. but it's a good read, one of the best actually.

It was an excellent comic book series. Unfortunately after some time the different writers and editors of the various books started drifting again. I forget the name of the series, but wasn't there also some sort of mini-Crisis again after? It must be hard to manage having one one coherent and interconnected Uniiverse.

For the record, one of my favorite books is Keith Giffen's version of Legion. Gritty, dark and best of all, the characters finally grow up.

  14. 3210, hehehe, it gets the job done, pero i'm considering getting a smart phone (budget constraints), mukhang astig

5110. tough, simple, long battery life. damn thing is the cellphone equivalent of an AK-47. takes a pounding but just won't quit on you. when i lost my original 5110 back in 2000, i went out and bought another one.

  15. hey got prob here.. HOW CAN I CONVERT MY .DOCS TO .PDF?

I think you'll need Adobe Acrobat to do that and not just the Acrobat Reader. I think an application called Acrobat Distiller can also do conversions.
