there have been a lot of discussion in other forums regarding this for as long as I can remember. The biggest issue today in heat, therefore a good cooling system is required if you're planning to keep your computer running 24/7. Another issue is power surge/fluctuation. This is the second biggest killer in your system.

A lot of people will actually recommend running your system 24/7, rather than turning it on for a few minutes or hour the turning it off, then on again, off again, then on.. you know what I mean.. :)

Having your PC turned on constantly minimizes the power surge going through your system everytime you power-up. More power is needed to turn-on a PC than it is needed to run it..that is why, when having problems with your pc, avoid pulling the plug from the outlen or the back of your PC or pressing the power button. Try resetting the pc first kasi di masyado nagbabago ang amount the kuryente sa PC components mo.

When keeping your PC on 24/7 just make sure you have decent power surge protetor, wag yung mga murang AVR na nabibili for around 500 pesos or less, better yet, make sure you have decent UPS before you consider leaving your system on 24/7..

Of course don't forget na kelangan pa rin ng system mo ng maintenance so there should also be a downtime para mag-cool down yung PC mo (para bang bakasyon after a long time sa trabahao) :)

  2. Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading my internet connection at home from dialup to any of the broadband services available in the market. So far, I've narrowed my choice down to two: mydestiny's cable broadband and PLDT's myDSL.

Please let me know what you think of the two services: which is better, how's the customer service, how reliable is the connection, etc. Your feedback is appreciated.

I've tried Mydestiny Cable Broadband in 2000, so i'm not sure if what i'm about to say still applies. Cable internet SUCKS!!!! BIG TIME!!!! PLDT's myDSL also sucks pero not as much as MyDestiny.

As far as I know cable internet is what is referred to as a shared bandwidth internetnet, meaning, kung marami kayong gumagamit bumabagal, compare it to the road that we have. The more cars the heavier the traffic, plus the same signal that your TV receives uses the same bandwidth as your data signal. Another is security. If you're not a security conscious individual, you are very prone to attack. Sometimes unintentional pa yung attack. It's hard to believe pero cable internet is like a huge LAN, with the proper software and configuration, you'll be able to see the computers that are using the Cable Internet provider. I've seen a lot of testimony from tech forums back in 2000 when I was contemplating an upgrade to Cable Internet saying this is a possibility. It scared the hell out of me!!!

With regards to myDSL, they suck for the simple reason that there are too many users but the bandwidth is not increasing, parang road din natin, parami ng parami ang sasakyan di naman nada-dagdagan ang kalye. Yun lang ang sa PLDT. Other than that, if you have no other choice on this go with PLDT na lang..

Pero if you can get Globe Innove, this is the one for you. In fact ito ang gamit ko.. I'm a subscriber, 384Mbps lang. Pero when I measure my speed online, via http://www.dslreports.com , minsan yung speed nagta-top at 1.5Mbps. Down stream lang yun at ang upstream ko 250 something naman.. Sulit 'di ba... during off peak yan syempre. Ang sustainable speed ko during peak hours is 350Mbps down, 110Mbsp up (rounded off na, di ko maaala yung exact e). Di ko sure kung ang advantage ko eh malapit ako sa Globe Telecom tower dito sa Mandaluyong o talagang alaga lang nila yung network nila.

    Hope this helps bro :thumbsupsmiley:

  3. I've tried more than a dozen prepaid Internet cards since 1998, and the very best i've tried whether on 33.6 or a 56K dial-up modem is REBEL. Unfortunately, REBEL was discontinued some where in 2000, so I went out and looked for an alternative, trying INFOCOM, BLAST, ISP BONANZA, AND other whose names are not worth remembering. Until I found I-Tipid. I-Tipid is fast for a dial-up, dati mabilis maka-connect due to a wide number of dial-up numbers, unfortunately nag bawas sila dahil na rin sa pag labas ng cable Internet. When i'm connected with I-Tipid on a 33.6 modem, my average sustainable speed, (meaning while downloading a file) never went below 3kbit/sec, unlike with the others, I got hooked with this. Then I also tried Surfmaxx, nung minsang maubusan ako ng I-Tipid sa suki ko. Just like I-Tipid, pero mas mahirap makaconnect. Why? Kasi, konti rin lang a dial-up numbers, pero mabilis ito, kasi, powered sya ng Pacific Internet. That's the 2 choices I have. Any other prepaid card, pupunta na lang ako sa internet cafe at dun na lang ako magi-internet.. :thumbsupsmiley:

  4. Any hidden charges in this place? some other motels have hidden charges, like they charge you if you use the soap in the bathroom or open a fresh roll of toilet paper.. anything like that?

  5. Ako na rin ang sasagot.. :) found this link... for those who want to try this establishment (like me :) you can check out their website: http://www.eurotelph.com/

meron po ba kayong alam na website ng mga motel, like this one.. para di lang naman puro FR ang pagbabasehan natin ng decision kung pupuntahan o hindi.. I'm not downplaying the comments of those that have been to this place or any other place, pero it's good to see how this h(m)otels represents themselves in terms of marketing. Yun lang po. Kung wala naman silang website, ok, lang.. Tuloy ang FR, para lahat masaya...
