i got a benq joybook 7000, not really happy with the performance, will be getting an asus for the next one.

I was really tempted to get BenQ joy book but decided to get the Hp-Compaq presario x1000 no regrets so far. My new IBM T60 still rox.

I bought it here in US. price is close to 2K USD. complete package with docking station and latest MS office. I only used for serious work. My old laptop, Compaq presario x1000 series with 1.8 centrino and 1GB ram still ok.

the VALUE in a laptop is its mobility..

what you are suggesting would be fine for a desktop user

who only needs to travel occassional but for a

mobile user/road warrior, a laptop is very indespensable..

Agree and some parts of Laptop is upgradable like HDD and RAM.

I bought myself recently a IBM Thinkpad R60/intel core duo with 2GB ram. It rox!!!

Ewan ko din sa bilis ng read/write... pero ang alam kong advantage nya ay minimized ang fragmentation sa NTFS unlike FAT. So I guess kung konti lang fragmented files eh di mas mabilis...

 

Pero stick to FAT pa rin ako sa PC ko until using NTFS becomes a lot more convenient and practical...

After using NTFS for long while, I don't want to go back to fat32 anymore. :call:

Does any one here tried Linux?

If the three "most important" softwares for me and been using for the last 8 years will be supported in Linux? then maybe....but for now I'll stick with win2k/winxp. Internet? well, I can still browse the internet with IE on win98 w/o much hassles.

May dual boot ako 98 at xp, sa xp naghahang ako kapag sa internet o sa application...so no choice magreset ako then udlot sa boot ng xp ayaw na tumuloy,ganon din sa 98 (safe made lang), ayaw sa safemode ng xp at normal sa 98 at xp bale....ang solution ko mag chkdsk sa recovery console pero para ako makapasok sa setup ng xp dapat ay i off ko muna ng mga 1 min kasi kung hindi kahit sa recovery ay hahang din (nakainstall na ang xp setup ko sa drive)

 

Tingin nyo harddisk ang problem? kasi kahapon 3x nangyari. :cry:

The same partition ba naka install ang winxp & win98 mo? You should install win98 or winxp sa separate partition. Pag pareho nag hang sa win98 & winxp, check mo ang RAM mo. since you have 3 rams, tanggalin mo muna ang isa, pag palitpalitin mo sa slot para mag malaman mo kung ram chips nga ang problema.

ang best solution ba sa computer problems ay pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL twice? :boo:

CTRL-ALT-DEL sometimes does not reboot the computer, the fastest way is RESET button.

for graphics and 3d rendering.

 

1.You should get 1 GB memory (RAM) must get at PC2700 DDR-333. (Brand: Apacer,

kingston or Kingmax)

2. Get a dual channel motherboard ( Epox, Abit or MSI)

3. Display Card. at least GF 4 MX , pero kung mahilig ka rin sa 3d games. suggest ko at least GForce 4 ti200 or Radeon 5000 pro.

4.Sa Hard disk naman, at least 80 GB (7200rpm) brand: Seagate or Maxtor

5. kung mag kano ang natira sa budget mo, saka ka mag decide sa speed ng CPU. at least AMD XP 2200+  & up. pag mag kasya pa sa AMD Barton 2500 mas ok.

OOPs... Radeon 9500 pro pala not 5000...hehehehe. Sorry.

Working in an Architectural Design firm. ang trabaho ko ay how to speed up production sa mga construction drawing.. writing some autolisp programming sa Autocad at mga 3d rendering & animation for presentation. depende sa requirement ng client.

Dati nag overclock ako, pero tigil na. no time para mag kalikot ng computer...

Saka Mag upgrade ako by next month to AMD Barton 3000, pag naka singil sa mga sideline ko..hehehe

sa pilipinas ba magkano ang Matrox parhelia? I'm planning to buy this card but it's too expensive for me...but it's a very good card for 3d and graphics because it supported up to 3 monitors.

Matrox had just release 2 new Millenium series cards. P650 & P750. support dual head at tripple head ang P750. I think I'm going to settle for P750 w/c cost around 13 to 14 k pesos only. Sa office kasi 2 monitors ang gamit ko.
