  1. My brother bought a D-Link Airplus Wireless PCI Adapter DWL- 520+. It was installed in my hard drive WITHOUT installing first the drivers thinking it can be installed on a later time. He misplaced the drivers. Anyway, I read the installation guide and it says do NOT install the DWL- 520+ PCI Adapter into your computer before installing the driver software on the D-Link CD. Patay hahaha. Anyway, what I did was to take out the Adapter then install the drivers. Everything went well up to that point na ikinabit na sya ulit sa hard drive ko. Nung pag boot up, dapat lalabas yung hardware installation alert screen(i'm using Windows XP Home Edition)but it didnt. So i tried going to the Add Hardware Wizard from my control panel pero wala doon sa drop down list yung D-link adapter. In short, hindi narerecognize ng windows xp ko yung hardware na yun. My question is:

Is this a windows issue/prob? If yes, then HOW do i go about it. Is there a way for me to configure windows so that the hardware installation alert screen appears each time I install a new device. Prior to this incident lumalabas naman yung alert screen na yun e. Pero ngaun hindi na.

If it's not a windows problem, what would be my next best move in order to finalize its installation?

Any recommendations? Should i buy something else other than D-link?

HELPPPP, i'm on my wit's end here :( Hindi ko na talaga alam anong gagawin  Thanks in advance sa assistance.

  2. Hey,

Thanks for the prompt response to my query. Your explanation helped a lot. Quite frankly,I never liked Acer(no offense sa mga Acer users). Maybe because I used to work for an IT company back then when i was still in the Phils. giving me access to a lot of hardware benchmarking information.

I'd appreciate more inputs should you have some so keep it rolling please. Thanks so much!!

  3. Hello techwhiz peeps,

First of all i'd like to say i enjoyed going thru this thread being one of those women who's into technology.

I would like to humbly ask for recommendations as to what laptop to get given a 60thou budget. If you had that budget what laptop would u purchase? May i also know whats the difference between Intel Centrino and Pentium4 processors when buying a laptop? The user will definitely not use the laptop for gaming, only for internet browsing and chats plus of course music downloads. I read in the previous postings that a laptop should have upgrade options(posting of FrankSinatra). If so,then what is the best laptop to go for given such consideration. I would appreciate any site links and PM msgs if you're selling laptops(ex Jupiter :) )

Thank you in advance for all of your help guys.
