  1. Kha’s Foodhouse is owned by a Pakistani academician, who while finishing several undergrad and masteral courses managed to squeeze in sharing the authentic flavors of the spice centrals—Mid East/Mediterranean/South Asia.

One of my favourites is the Sizzling Kebabs - 2 thick beef patties piled with crunchy veggies and drizzled with rich, spicy sauce, served bubbling sizzling on the hot plate, leaving a trail of smoke all through the place.

The kebabs went perfectly well with Jambalaya, which was so rich in flavour that it was good by itself. It was heavy but one just had to have some more.

Another favourite of mine is the Keema --- it is ground beef simmered until dry with ginger, tomato sauce, and spices. It can be ordered with chicken or squid.

You may try, if you're bitten by the curious bug: "ox brain" and/or "it's not what you think". The former may not that unique anymore as other kebab establishments have, now, their own version, but so far, this is the best version I've tried.

Don't really expect anything fancy, food here is your basic chinese inspired cuisine which is mostly available in other chinese restos. (but still its not bad)

But you got to give them credit for the fresh (and properly cooked) seafood offerings.

    On a personal sidenote:

I guess the one thing going for them (or at least what they are trying to push) is the pressure steamer contraption in the tables wherein you can order the seafoods and have them steamed right in front of you if your opting for a healthier (or less oily) meal.

Unfortunately I did not make use of the steamer and just have their kitchen cook the food for us. (maybe in future visits I might)

Saer may I know how much is the swahe shrimps and is that tausi clams?

  3. For kebabs and ox brain, nothing beats Behrouz. Old original Persian food lovers would remember those times in the 1980s when the humble owner Mr. Behrouz personally prepare and grill kebabs outside the same old place in Scout Tobias where customers can all witness. But somebody was right, their garlic sauce has changed and needs improvement. Mr. Kebab came much later as an offshoot to the Persian food craze....and their kebabs and ox brain is quite inferior compared to Behrouz in terms of quality and taste.

  4. Pinky Pop's along Morayta.... good old college days; Luisa and Sons along C.M. REcto, I wonder if its still around. Deco's La Paz Batchoy along Espana near corner P. Noval.... I love their batchoy with pandesal on the side.... and I almost forgot, Cafeteria Moderna along Plaza Sta. Cruz, Manila.... love those Hotcakes with crispy bacon on top
