IMO i consider sugi mid-range, i've been eating there since 19xx and over the years it has developed into a bastardized japanese cuisine for the filipino palette. if i was a snob japanese executive i wouldn't call this authentic or high-end

if you want EXTREMELY DELICIOUS jap food, YOU MUST PAY

start with nanohana, tsukiji, the jap resto in lucio tans hotel in manila(i forgot the name, but it is the former head chef of tsukiji cooking there now), and obviously the hotels

authentic value-for-money jap food would have to be tittle tokyo

And yes yung tia maria in makati ave near I.S. and aunt mary's aunt sa old greenbelt..i use to frequent the place. cozy ang place with their margarita drinks in pitchers.
