  1. Manila Pen's halo halo is the best I've tried. The serving is huge and good enough for two.

I used to like Razon's. But recently, their ice are no longer as smooth as they used to be, and since their halo-halo use only few ingredients, you can hardly call it halo-halo, more like BANANA CON HIELO w/ leche flan to me.

Iceberg is better than Razon's. And considering its serving size, it turns out to be cheaper than Razon's too.

  2. Buffet here is great. But Ild rather go to Spirals

Maybe you are confused. This thread is already about Spiral.

I've tried the buffet of Spiral (Hotel Sofitel Phil Plaza), Circles (Makati Shangrila), Tin Hau (Mandarin Oriental), Nielsen's (Mla. Peninsula), Market Cafe (Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila), Cafe in the Park (Century Park Hotel).

    My personal preference is

    1. Market Cafe in terms of quality of food. The Chinese food they offer is the best among the one mentioned above (followed by Tin Hau). Limited Japanese food but quality is good. Freshest oysters among all I mentioned above.

    2. Spiral in terms of variety and widest spread. They offer Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Indian, Continental, Pasta, grill/barbecue, etc.

    3. Circles - although there's also a lot of choices, it can't rival Spiral. Beside, their seafood is not as fresh and I have on occassion smell something funny on their oysters.

  3. btw... I forgot to ask this question or perhaps have missed it while backreading

but for King One... do they have the "frying" part of the shabu-shabu?

kinda like what Tong Yang has? Or is it just the soup shabu-shabu that they have?

Nope. Just the soup and no frying pan on the side. If I'm not mistaken, the one with frying is Korean (and Japanese?) style shabu shabu. But for Chinese shabu shabu, it only comes with the soup.

  4. Choi Garden rocks. They have one of the most authentic Chinese Shabu-shabu in town. Gossip is that the chefs here also came from Gloria Maris. Plus, this is by far the best designed Chinese resto I've been by far all my life. :thumbsupsmiley: Wala akong masabi ang ganda ng pagkagawa ng interiors nila. Parking lang ang medyo problem. Food's great too. Price range, parang Anapolis Seafood and Gloria Maris.

Just tried this place, thanks for your recommendation. I'm a frequent diner at Gloria Maris Greenhills, but this new place is really nice and their shabu shabu is indeed superior to Gloria Maris. Their fish/meat/squid balls taste A LOT BETTER, serving size is also a bit bigger. Best of all, unlike Gloria Maris, they don't pour a ton of MSG (vetsin) in their soup stocks. It tastes just what a good shabu shabu should be.

Parking doesn't bother me, we were able to park in their parking lot beside Burger Machine, which is only about 70 meters away. Metrobank parking area is also open for diners during non banking hours.

Will definitely come back to this place.

I'm reposting this from what I gather from another HACKER'S FORUM:

IMPORTANT UPDATE WARNING ABOUT WINDOWS XP SP3:

I have determined first hand (after installing a slipstreamed SP3 to an HP laptop) that SP3 IS DEFINITELY GOING VISTA-LIKE IN TERMS OF ANTI-PIRACY MEASURES! Heres the lowdown:

A whole slew of VLK keys have been blacklisted first-off. This is of NO concern however because the worst is yet to come. It appears that SP3 will require mandatory activation with Microsoft BEFORE the user can even log on. I doubt that SP3 will ever be released in any kind of VLK version btw. After installing Windows with a slipstreamed SP3_RC1, (after finally finding a bullshit cd-key that Windows would accept which took like 20 keys) I was greeted with the dreaded message dialog "You must first activate Windows With Microsoft before logging on". And of course pressing "NO" would log your right-on out again. My advice after a real-world test: Screw SP3 (and the Microsoft muppets) until an easy fix for this is released, providing this DRM crap actually materializes in the final SP3.

Well, this might just be a blessing in disguise I guess, because it might FINALLY BE "the straw that broke the camels back" and gave every single one of you the final reason you actually needed to move to another OS. Linux. MS thinks they can peddle this crap using the same demonic methods the tobacco companies did. "Get em' hooked, then when they become chemically dependent, BOOM charge insane prices". Only with Microsoft it's more like "make it unavoidable or extremely difficult to use without paying". But Microsoft still doesn't understand that Windows is NOT a cancerous addictive cigarette. They CANT use this system with even a fraction of the success the tobacco/cigarette companies had. People WILL DUMP Windows if MS goes through with this SP3+DRM garbage. People WILL move to another OS, they won't just say "screw it, i'm gonna pay 140$". WATCH.

Anyway, lets see how this plays out but once again, tread very carefully with SP3 installs!

  6. Hey,

Sorry I'm a newbie here and an American. For Christmas, I'm buying one of my friends a cell phone but I'm not sure where to buy a cell phone compatible with Smart or Load cards. How can I tell if a phone is compatible with those cards? Also, can I buy a cell phone in the US that would work in Phili? Any special requirements unlocked etc etc. Sorry for this I really have no idea :D If anyone has a link, I'd really appreciate it also.

    Thanks all take care,

Yes, you can buy a cellphone in the US that would work in Phil. as long as it is unlocked.. no special requirements..whatsoever..

about the cp.. i prefer.. SE ones..

Be careful not to get a CDMA phone. That will not work here in Philippines. Make sure you get an OPENLINE (aka UNBRANDED) GSM phone that works on 900 MHz or 1800 MHz bands. Some carriers (including Canada and the United States) use the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands because the 900 and 1800 MHz frequency bands were already allocated, this phone won't work also.

  7. hello everybody...i hope that someone could help me on this one asap...i would like to send via internet a copy of adobe creative suite for mac to my pop who is in the US and just starting to learn the electronic way...there's 2 cd's for the package to work consisting of 586mb and 538mb respectively..i do have a rapidshare account...now my favor to ask from you guys is this...how could i send it to him electronically? as we all know rs have 100mb only per file..will splitting it won't affect the program itself when he extract it on their side? even a simple downloading is a gargantuan task for him over there as he is from the jurassic age...i dearly hope that somebody could help me on this one asap as otherwise i would be force to just send it to him via dhl wherein which would cost me alot!!!!!! thanks alot in advance...GOD BLESS!!!!!!! (sorry for this if this ain't the thread for this problem...desperate move...)

I doubt if DHL or FEDEX will accept cd now. I've tried to send a cd containing the layout of our company's logo to US but these 2 courier won't accept cd, afraid of violating any copyright law?!

  8. this are the phone being raid by nbi at evergotesco anyone tried this already

I think the ones raided were marked NOKLA or NOKIA (fake). But there were a lot of China made dual sim phones that uses their own brands.

  9. Ling Nam has the best congee!!!

Is Pho24 good? How would it compare against Pho Hua?

For me, the best congee in town is still HAN PAO'S HALO HALO LUGAW. They put in assorted meats:beef, chicken, pork, meat balls and NOT INNARDS like liver, tito that other offers. Although I haven't tried LING NAM'S CONGEE again for years, the last time I ate it in their T. Alonzo branch has been more than 6 years ago. From what I can recall, it ain't bad also.

Hahaha. Your comment makes me laugh so hard. :D :D

But in fairness, I've been there thrice already, although the food is not so good, my experience is not as bad as yours. My complaints so far: Their Caesar salad is too SOUR. Steak are inconsistent, mostly over cooked. But I was able to request for replacement. Steaks are a bit too salty too for my taste but ok if you eat it with rice?! Lengua is good but not enough sauce, pork steak used to be 2 pieces per order, but I heard it's now 1 piece/order from a friend.

Overall, I wouldn't mind dining there again, but would rather go to other restos nearby if I crave for a HALF-COOKED SLAB OF DEAD ANIMAL'S CARCASS. :D

  11. One of the BEST DEAL you can get : TRAMWAY (they have a branch near Banawe, QC) and the newer/cleaner one that just opened first week of December is in Timog.

They serve CHINESE FOOD BUFFET for only 178.00 (no service charge and vat inclusive). Everyday except Sunday Lunch (price goes up to 298.00 during Sunday lunch time). They serve good Chinese food such as:

Yang Chow Fried Rice, Kang Kong with garlic, steamed fish, fried wanton (very good), fried chicken (very good), clam in tausi, soup, congee, guinataan, california maki, steamed egg custard, steamed dumpling, sweet and sour pork, butchi, salad, fresh fruits, century egg, etc. They change their dishes every meal, so those mentioned above may not be the one you'll be served. They only offer buffet, no ALA CARTE. Children below 4 feet is charged 128.00 only.

Softdrinks in can is either 25.00 for Zesto Brand and 35.00 for Coke/sprite/mug/royal.

Bottomless ice tea is 45.00 if I'm not mistaken, however, their deal is that you can only order bottomless ice tea if EVERYONE in your table will also order the same.

The place is quite big, clean since it's newly renovated, provide good service, they refill the food quite often and fast (unless it's already past 8:30 PM, then it begins to slow down).

Tramway is located along TIMOG AVE, near Century Imperial, besides Annabel and near METROBANK/Jade Garden area. It's also the former location of GLORIA MARIS Timog.

By the way, I suggest to go there early, as the place gets full easily. Parking may also be a hassle though.

In my humble opinion, this is one of the best deal in town, if not the best.
