  1. A word of advice before posting ... DON'T MAKE YOUR REQUEST SOUND LIKE A DEMAND! We are doing this because we want to help. We are not required, nor are we paid, to do so!!!

That aside, the advice about using Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) is correct. However, if you want a free converter (not a p*d one), you can use Ghostscript, GSView, and RedMon. They're all available here..

    You can either:

    1. Install all three

    or

    2. Install just Ghostscript, GSView, and a Postscript printer driver into your PC. Have the printer print to a file. The file (which contains PostScript commands) can then be converted by Ghostscript into a PDF document.

    HTH.

He he.. Maybe he got frustrated on how to convert his documents because of his deadlines. :D

  2. hello techies,

where can i get this? firmware version 2.3.3 it's a driver for an external firewire drive of the powerbook. the enclosed CD with the link brought me to a dead spot. Wala na dun.

    It's for the macintosh...

What's the best capture card for video editing? Any idea? Di pa kaya ang bumili ng dual processor e kaya mag wi-windows base na muna.

    Salamat

Try to visit this site: http://www.apple.com/

Try mo na rin dito http://download.com.com/2001-20-0.html?legacy=cnet

Sa best capture cards, pls check sa previous post baka makatulong. :)

  3. hi, techies.  :D  hope you can help me out on my desktop dilemma.

i'm having a real slowdown in home pc. perhaps maybe due to the almost full HDD w/c is already 70% occupied. could that be it maybe?

some 2-cents worth of input would be greatly appreciated here.

    thankies a lot!

I think we should not account the percentage occupied rather the free space of our hard disk in megabytes. If we are using a Win98/ME, we should try to free up at least 300MB for the windows virtual memory. A 1-1.2gb hdd should be alarmed when they are using 70% of the disk space. For Win NT/2k/XP users, at least 500mb should be freed up and more MBs to users who frequently back up their system by making a restore point especially for Win XP pro users.

Better do a regular system maintenance like cache/recycle bin/temporary internet file cleaning to fix the problem. If you still encounter slow downs, make regular updates from your anti-virus programs or if It still persists, you may need to add some memory to your system. :)

  4. every time i read any thead d2, may sumusulpot. "A runtime error has occured. do you wish to debug? Line 51 'document.replier.bbmode.1 is null or not an object". ano to? may prob ba browser ko? o sa security settings lng ng browser. im using IE6 in win9se. thnx.

It usually happens if you have not have a java plug-in installed in your MSIE.

If you could not update your operating system because of your current product key, try this...

On the pull down menu look for Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Uncheck Disable script debugging. :)

  5. i have some BAD CLUSTERsa hard disk ko. patanong - mare-repair p ba yun? :(

It depends sa cause ng bad sector. If it is only an error created by bugs or virus, it could be easily removed by a low level hex editing program. You could manually trace and remove the bad cluster or salvage all your data and zero fill in the file allocation table. If after another diagnostic run the bad cluster appears again, it is probably a physical error.

Spreading of the bad cluster are imminent because the spindle will always misalign and may damage the disk more after passing through the damaged area of the disk. A solution to minimize the spread of the bad sector is by partitioning. List the physical address of the disk that has a bad mark then make a partition that the bad marks will become useless. (Example I have a 10GB hard disk with bad cluster between 7,000,000,001 and 7,000,258,000. Set a partition drive c: at 1st byte to 7,000,000,000th byte and logical drive d: from 7,000,258,001st byte to 10,000,000,000th byte.) These method will reduce the spread of your bad sector and may prolong your hard disks life.

  6. pre try mo rin mag-post sa tipidpc.com and bidshot.com

    good luck!

Naku hindi advisable doon you may end up selling your rig with almost two-third or worse half the present retail price regardless of the brand. Anyway, try to sell from your relatives na lang para hindi masyadong nakakahinayang. Good luck na rin. :)

  7. PC management tips (intermeddiate)

      by fruitloops

if you have 20 gigs and aboves.

    1. partition your hard drive to 2 partitions (about 8gig and 12 gig)

    2. install windows on the 8 gig along with your drivers.

    3. install all your software on the 20gig..

    4. use norton ghost (included sa cd-rom kasama nang board palagi yun) to back up your 8 gig.

now why do this... kung mag screw up ang pc mo just use ghost to install your 8 gig without reformatting / reinstalling any software.

yung 12 gig will house your main programs executables and e-mails, IE bookmarks, downloaded files all the important stuff.

so if you use ghost ibabalik mo lang yung 8 gig hindi na magagalaw yung 12 gig mo.

in less than 3 minutes balik sa parang fresh install.

    hope this helps.

tenx for the tip fruitloops... i usually do that... the difference is I install all the programs (office apps/games) at the 1st partition- usually the smaller partition but all my documents or personal files are located at the 2nd partition para pag nagloko eh format lang ang 1st part... the hassle is i have to install program files back... ;) :glasses:

It's ok. Eventhough partitioning may eat up some of your hard drive space, the important thing is your data are atill intact. ;)

  8. tulong naman mga pre,

kung may 15k ka at gusto mong mag upgrade ng pc?

ano ang dapat mong gawin o palitan?

if u already have the following:

40gig hoard disk, 50x cdrom, cdwriter, 15inch monitor, modem.

tnx for the help in advance.

hirap ng limited ang budget eh!!

It depends kung saan ang upgrade needs mo. Office or home PC? Ano yung mga usual programs/applications mo na ginagamit? I may state na lang yung recommended bilhin in general since I don't know kung saang application nyo gagamitin.

    For long term upgrades: monitors(17"up), hard disk drives(80GBup),power supply unit(400Wup) memory(256MBup)& sound system(audigy gold,etc.).

But if you have your aformentioned peripherals,

    Intel Pentium 4(socket423/478) / AMD Athlon(socketA)

Stated processors prices ranges from 3k-10k. AMD Athlons are cheaper than Intel P4 chips. Of course the higher the price, the better the performance.

    Motherboard

Chipset naman ang basihan dito. Some boards have built-in video but it is still recommended that you have a separate video card in your rig to reduce sdram memory usage. Board with Intel chipset are ideal for Penium based processors and VIA chipset for AMDs. Again, Intel chipsets are more expensive than AMD based ones. Advisable brand of mobo are ASUS, Intel, Epox and ECS. Price ranges from 2.5k-7k.

    Memory

Most of the programs today consumes a lot of memory so although 128MB are minimum req's of most of them, better go with 256MB so there will be less problems especially in multitaskers like me :). Also, check the motherboard to be used to determine the memory you will buy. Present memory types commercially available are PC133 SDRAM, PC266/333/400 DDR & RDRAMs.

    Casing

Sa casing naman, you should consider the size, air flow and the power supply. If you have extra peripherals like CDWriter, xtra hdd, etc. you should have at least 350W so there's no problem when adding another device. Types of cases are available to suit your needs. May mga modding enthusiasts na gumagamit ng Chieftek, Lian-Li, Exodus, Tornado or Enermax to enhance their rigs while overclocking. Sa office naman, case like elevation will do. Prices sa case ranges from 1k-7k.

    Video Card

If you are a gaming fanatic or the a graphis guru type that are inclined to details, you should go to 64MB or higher cards. Recommended VCs are Inno3D, Sparkle, ECS, ASUS, ATI Radeon, etc. Price goes from 1k to 20k.

If you like PM me yung specific specs na you needed or for more technical support regarding your budget.

    Hope this helps.

  9. sorry if my question is quite off sa topic. (mejo lang naman ehh.. heheh...  ;) )

i just wanna ask what gadgets or stuffs could i use to transfer movies/stuff from VHS or beta  tapes to vcd? i mean anong mga kailangan ko... me burner kasi kami. kaya lng am not that knowledgeable sa mga editing and stuff like that. like anong mga cable kailangan ko... pati rin yung mga galing sa videocam...

salamat.. sana may pumansin sa akin...

The_Maw is right. You should use a video capture card. Look for cards that have RCA connectors for analog players like beta or VHS and S-Video connectors for digital cameras(ex.V8,etc.). Take note that the higher the price, the better the performance(ex.resolution,quality,etc.). Recommended capture cards are the Snazzi, ATI, and Pinnacle Studio. Winfast is the cheapest and could be recommended for starters. You also need encoders(ex.Flash for SVCD,Virtual Dub for AVI,etc.) to convert your VHS, DVD, etc. to a digital file; Codecs like Quicktime & Nimo helps your PC to read some formats that could not be read by the default Windows Media Player and Editing tools like Adobe Premiere to organize and add some touches(optional) to your captured work. Hope this helps. :)
