  1. I'm a big fan of tinting my cars, but I recently got a new company car (black Camry), and it's such a waste to tint it.

Without the tint, the car really has depth and dimension and has the showroom appeal when I park it. I only use the vehicle in the mornings and evenings, so I don't feel compelled to tint it at this stage. Pag nagsawa na ko, I'll definitely tint the sucker.

I understand the heat deflection and all, I agree with you guys except for the security part. For girls, tinting the car could pose as a danger. They can potentially get pushed inside the vehicle, mauled, robbed etc. without anybody seeing them from the outside. I know this from hearing a horror story first hand. So beware.

In summary, if my car is ordinary and 2+ years old, I'll definitely tint it. If it's still new, I'll wait until it loses its novelty and appeal before I apply the tint. I'm married and have no future intention of screwing around so I don't really need a motel-compliant vehicle. Having no tint also helps me stay that way : )

    Cheers

  2. If you backread a bit, I've already contributed to this thread. So let me just sum it up..

Don't take this personally Wildswans, but hear me out...

You are both immature and superficial into this relationship.. she's clueless, and you're clueless..

    TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE A RIGHT ..

You both need to mature first before you can get into a serious relationship.. bugoy pa kayong dalawa

    Cheers!

  3. My cars:

    1.) 2006 Toyota Fortuner A/T 2.5 D-4D (daily driver to the office)

    2.) 2002 Honda CR/V 2.0L (color coding)

3.) [This space reserved for a 2000 Ford Expedition 4.6L Triton V8 (weekender) ] <- my project for 2007, kung may budget I'll put in 22 inch Bazo rims for some bling action. There's no substitute for the sound of the American V8 rumble from a Borla exhaust.

  4. It's all about math. There are more ugly men than good looking men in Manila.

Second, women don't necessarily prioritize looks when looking for a partner. They want security, be it in the form of how she is handled, or money, or maturity of the partner.

It's convenient for anyone to say it's the cars or the money. I've seen a lot of homely looking guys nail pretty women because they know how to handle ladies, not because of what they've got in the bank.

Fight the stereotype thinking dudes! Cheers!

  5. Firstly, we can only see one side of the story .... yours.

But based on your account of the relationship, I can infer or even conclude the following things:

1.) she has a big emotional baggage about her ex bf

2.) she's not decided on you yet - maybe it's related to #1)

3.) she's hiding things from you (e.g. friendster, chatting)

4.) there's no buy-in from the parents. The family has not embraced you as a suitor

5.) she has exhibited no emotional stability in the relationship

I don't really see anything worth clinging on to this relationship not unless you're :

    a.) getting mind-blowing sex from her;

    b.) you're unattractive and your options are limited;

You got one part of the equation right though. Love is about action even if it's not reciprocated. But you will usually dedicate yourself in this type of relationship if it has matured (to marriage of course). But your relationship seems very young, immature, and based on superficial exchanges of texting love-you messages.

From my perspective, you have related a relationship that really has no moral basis. She's not truthful, decided, or firm about anything. This is a one-way street. I suggest you get the f*ck out and use your time more productively.

    Cheers.

  6. Sa lalake - the lower head sometimes dominates the upper head

Sa babae - the heart sometimes dominates the brain

In any case, laging conflict yang dalawang yan..

Sometimes you're not IN LOVE, you're IN LUST.. tama ba?

Again, it starts with being IN LUST -> just the physical attraction (everyone starts here). Puro HEART lang yan, and EMOTION.

It becomes LOVE -> when you show somebody your dedication to the partnership over a period of time (through hail, sleet, or snow).. medyo this requires a mix of HEART and BRAIN dahil hindi ka naman laging head over heels (or in LUST) with somebody na kasama mo araw araw diba? it's close to impossible. So, medyo pa-iiralin mo rin yung BRAIN power mo to sustain the relationship.

It's a hard balancing act.. but that's what it takes I guess..

    Does this make sense guys?

  7. Depende sa trip mo sa babae -- if looks lang at sex ang habol mo, at wala ka nang kinikilalang kamag-anak sa pamilya mo, puede siguro.

Pero halos lahat ng relationships or real-life marriages ay may 30 to 40% interaction with the relatives. Can you just imagine na na-tonting na ng 17-year old mung pamangkin yung asawa mo? Hehe -siguro nakangiti hanggang tenga sya palagi pag dumadating kayo.

Can you just imagine that she has been f*cked by 3,600 men in her past (assuming active siya for 5 years) tapos ikaw naka sampung popoy lang? hehe. Just imagine the cast of thousands in her head. Grabe.

It's just a pandora's box. Hehe. In other words... don't even think about it dude.

What's the analogy of that? Why in heaven's name would you get a day-old Big Mac from somebody's trash can when you can WAIT and save a bit of money to buy a freshly packed Double Cheeseburger from any McDonalds counter?

You're probably not in Love. You're in lust.

    Cheers!

  8. Depende sa gamit.

If you're mostly city driving, and you can afford the additional 50K on the price tag, get a matic tranny. there's no value in getting a manual except for the fuel economy.

If you're car is sporty (like a Subaru Impreza, Mitsu Evo VII, or Hyundai Coupe, Mazda Miata, Civic SRi - no A/T option), get a manual. Sayang kase ang investment kung matic.

If you're mostly doing out-of-town trips (going to Laguna etc) and the engine is 1.6L or less, get the manual tranny. It's a tough challenge to overtake from 80kph above with a matic.. puede ka pa madisgrasya dahil bitin sa power.

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

  9. I'd get the Hyundai Tucson Diesel ... Economy, Space, Style, Height, Width, Automatic (for tight parking) and good price

Getting a compact car has become a hard deal in this country.. why?

1.) those big, rude AUVs, buses, and jeepneys easily box you out..

2.) there's really no room for a family with two children + 1 yaya in a compact sedan..

3.) luggage space is limited. pag may sinundo ka lang na balikbayan from the airport, wala ng space for those boxes..

4.) patay ka sa baha at lubak.. FYI. The shocks of the japanese compact sedans are not fitted for philippine road conditions (i used to own a civic and corolla, so I know)

Okay ang compact car kung binata ka, or just a couple. But if you have children, a Hyundai Tucson Diesel is the most practical thing you can buy. Don't buy the gas cross-over versions (e.g. CRV, XTRAIL, Escape), the mileage is 6km/liter vs. 10km/liter on a Tucson. That's a savings of about P3,000/mo for a regular user.

    Cheers!

  10. Is this the version that will come out in the Phils? Baka they might do a 2007 Camry.. i.e. the 2007 Camry released in Phils is not the same version in the U.S... Sometimes they just tame it down pag sobrang edgy yung design for the asian market.

About this 2007 CR-V in the picture, parang napasobra yung C-pillars at the back. It's a style statement that serves no function. The 2nd-level grill looks like an afterthought.. parang walang ngipin. You know if the carmakers fouled up with design when the front, resembles that of an animal or a cartoon character.. I wish they will find a softer version somewhere along the life of this model.. personally, I'd take out that 2nd grille at the bottom with that big black thing, take out the big C-pillar at the back that resembles that hideous van from Ssangyong... I guess after that, it will be fine.

Honda buyers are known for conservatism. This design is a bit over the top. Cheers

  11. Medyo maiinit kasi kapag hindi naka tint.

Can somebody recommed a brand of tint na clear but hindi masyado pumapasok ang init.

    Thanks in advance

If you want clear with a high heat deflection, it's still VKool but pick the lightest kind. I don't recommend it though because of the cost.. it's about 30K all around - this is the same technology used on planes. But if you want to be practical, you can still choose 3M silverized type, the code is RE-35.

  12. Ehto

Wala naman sinasabi na violation sa LTO ung heavy tint...

Ung TINTED na car plate cover yan ang violation

Violations In Connection With Plates And Stickers

16 A - Plates not firmly attached and visible

Violations Relative to Motor Vehicle Parts, Accessories, Markings

    Motor vehicle with metallic wheels

    Defective brakes

Improper horn or signalling device (exceptionally loud, startling, or disgreeable)

    Defective horn or signalling device

Carrying red lights visible in front of vehicles

    No or defective headlights

    No or defective taillights

    No red rear lights

    No license plate lights

    No brake (stop) lights

    No or defective windshield wipers

    No or disconnected muffler

Dirty and unsightly or dilapidated motor vehicle

Failure to paint or improper painting of authorized route (jeepneys)

Non-painting of business name or trade name on vehicle used for business trade

    Unauthorized improvised number plates

If plates are made to appear as registered to operate as FOR HIRE

Failure to put "NOT FOR HIRE" sign on jeepney/jitney not operated FOR HIRE

Unlawful use or attachment of siren/bell/horn/whistle/gadget that produces exceptionally loud or startling sound, including domelights, blinkers, and similar signaling/flashing devices

Glaring front or rear body parts and/or sporting dazzling accessories

Operation of vehicles with right-hand steering wheel

On paper, yes. But in this country where there are virtually no patrol cars and policemen just huddle in pre-designated areas, there is basically no enforcement of these rules. For instance, how will you arrest a politician #8-plated SUV with "metallic wheels" a.k.a. 20-inch bling blings? Over your dead-body right?

"No or disconnected mufflers", that would cover all jeepneys in this country! Again, no enforcement. Tinted cars have been banned since the late 80s to present - has it been enforced?. a resounding NO. You can basically run away with murder in this country.. that's why we have the biggest population of private security guards in the entire world.. because the citizenry do not believe in the government's ability to enforce anything.. Cheers!

  13. post-97191-1158448411.jpgFor heat protection... d2 sa lugar namin na umaabot ng hanggang 50 degrees, tapos sa initan ka

naka park, necessity na talaga. I don't know if we have this brand V-kool sa atin... kahit anong init sa labas

malamig ung glass...they claim one of the most advance daw...medyo may kamahalan nga lang... but very

good. Ung pinaka magaling mag repel ng heat at radiation is the transparent ones...un nilagay ko sa harap

and then sa side at likod ung 70% heavy tint... dito pag darker pa sa 70% huli ka na, un kasi ang law nila.

Overall, di sya mainit, considering na black ung car at ung outside temp is mataas talaga...dito 34 is considered

    cold

I tried V kool once on my F150, very expensive but didn't come out nice. It had a greenish type of appearance, nag mukhang armored truck ang bintana ko! It wasn't also effective in bringing down the glare. But what pissed me off, is that VKool doesn't allow your parking transponder or e-pass to work!

On tinting, this is my two cents worth.. if it's a european car (Benz, BMW, Audi), don't tint it .. sayang ang investment mo if you're not going to flaunt the interior and the fine leather trims.. if you do, it becomes plain vanilla.. Secondly, determine first how you're going to use the car.. if you're always on the field, tint it with 3M RE35, RE20 in front - ask the one installing to leave a hole for the LTO sticker - FYI it's not a strict requirement to have this.. You can go to Roadstar or other accessory shops and request that they tint the front windshield with one-piece. Don't settle for a two-piece coz the partition runs right smack into your eyeline. Then, to remove the LTO sticker, use the flat blade for applying "masilya" .. this is what is being used by pre-owned car-dealers to remove stickers.. try it!

Secondly, if you are a takusa.. tint it all black! don't take the risk.

I personally have two late-model SUVs but I haven't tinted them. I don't go out on the field and just use the vehicles early morning and evening just to and from the office. That being said, they look like they came straight from the show room. All original. But I plan to get a sedan next year as a third vehicle and do an all-around 3M, just to have one for privacy. You don't know when it's going to be handy  Cheers!

  14. Buhay pa ba yung Wok Inn sa may Park Square?

Buhay pa to, but what has changed is that you don't have to go to the kitchen-window (like before) to order. A waiter will come to you to get your order. Menu is simple laminated page with pictures but the cooking still stays the same. Bottomless iced tea tastes bland so just stick with softdrinks/soda. The looks of the restaurant stay them same, i.e. cheap chairs and tables, no frills..

  15. Daily Driver (from AAlabang to office) - 2005 Range Rover 4.6HSE V8 no tint, Silver (bling of all SUVs)

Saturdays (to and fr golf course) - 2006 Porsche Cayenne S V8 Turbo, no tint, Black w/ tan interior (also a bling)

Sunday - 2006 Mini Cooper S, no tint, dark blue with Union Jack flag on the roof

    Daily Driver (to and fr motel) - 2004 BMW 323i in-line 6cyl, all-around black-tint, Black w/ black leather interior
