  1. Hi all!

I'm thinking of getting my MBA degree. I'm currently a registered nurse who is having a hard time getting a job but I have a mini-business of buy and sell (gadgets and vehicles). Anyway, does anyone have any knowledge about the MBA programs from different schools? Which would you recommend? I am considering my financial limitation so don't recommend AIM and the likes.

    PS

Will this be a good decision for me? Share me your thoughts.

    Thanks!

Try Masters in Management at UP it is more well rounded for non-business graduates like you. Better ask the Registrar at UP Manila - College of Arts and Science which has health related units as well.

  2. Masters in Management - University of the Philippines. I tried the GPAT exam and I didn't pass. There were 44 of us and only 15 to 20 students are accepted. Too bad I failed. Wait for next trimester in UP again or move to Ateneo GSB.

Besides UP's tuition is PhP 2,500 per unit meaning if you are enrolled with a 9 units then it will PhP 22,500.00 for the next 5 months.

  3. how about legionnaire by simon murray? now that was one great book, written like only an englishman can.

have trouble finding that book by simon murray?

have read the book of Robert Paul Young's Inside the French Foreign Legion back in 2003 when my uncle from the US arrived bringing his rare and classic collection of books from New York. The book was published in UK back in 1980s. Finding a copy of this book in the Philippines and the US is very hard. Hope Fully Booked Bookstore have some sort of a copy of this.

  4. I saw that video through internet the other time. Legionnaire Hege is a former Royal Marine who went to France to join the Foreign Legion. The asian guy looks familiar. Saw in the Discovery Channel's Warriors in the French Foreign Legion. His name is Capitaine Ming from China I guess? Saw a much newer video from National Geographic which was originally telecasted in ITV4 United Kingdom the title of the documentary is Tougher than the Rest: Inside the French Foreign Legion which has three episodes and can be seen on google video.

-that's true, amin was too chickenshit to jump, unfortunately the israelis issued him with the jump wings and never took them back.

-the van damme movie is "legionnaire". utter crap, as is all van damme movies. "march or die" is one of the better ffl movies made. another good one is "beau geste" with gary cooper (based on the novels by p.c wren: beau geste, beau sabreur, beau ideal). "fort sagan" was another ffl movie that was pretty good, by pretty good i mean it had sophie marceau in it, and any movie with sophie marceau is a good movie, even if she makes one with van damme. especially if she takes her clothes off...

-i've got a dvd called "foreign legion" and it follows an english recruit from first sign up through basic training, para trainig with 2rep, up to jungle warfare training in south america. very engrossing. actual quote..."his french suddenly improved after the corporal punched him in the stomach..." there was a couple of asian recruits in the film, but i don't think they were mongolian.

"gates of fire" is a fantastic read. so are the other pressfield books, "alexander:the virtues of war" about alexander the great; "last of the amazons" theseus, king of athens, in the land of the amazons; "tides of war" alcibiades and the pelopponesian war; "the legend of bagger vance" better known because of the will smith movie. the book just shits all over the film, although charlize theron is a hottie. too bad she didn't take her clothes off. he also wrote a self help book called "the war of art". i haven't read this one yet.

i'm waiting for his newest book to come out, "the afghan campaign" about alexander the great in afghanistan.

there's also a lot of talk about "gates" being made into a movie...

if i remember correctly, wasn't manila the second most destroyed city in ww2, after warsaw? this sounds like an interesting book. is it still available?

another author i'd recommend is joe sacco who wrote the graphic novels "safe area: gorazde", about his time in the balkans during the bosnian war, and "palestine: in the gaza strip" about the intifada and israel's reaction to it.

  5. No problem, see to it you have good tenants to care for your property as well. Treat them well and they will treat you the same.

kasi we are going to use part of the property ginawa namni some sort of apartment na pinapaupahan namin. Although we still need to spend a minimum of 60K for the divisioning of the rooms so I was thinking if its still a good investment.

    thanks sa advices mga sir

  6. if in 3 years time your NAVPU is 1.150 multiplied by 100,000 pesos = 115,000 pesos. I think there is no exit fees if you exceeded the 2 year holding plan of your money on mutual funds. You should read again the literature on the company where you invested your money or ask the mutual fund agent who sold you this.

I read a lot of forum about UITF and Mutual Fund. But the thing which is not clear for me is "how to calculate the gain of your investment. Let say...

    NAVPU = 1.000

    Invested = 100,000.00

I kept my money for 3 years. When the time to pull out my investment the NAVPU is 1.150.

How much gain with my investment for 3 years?

What is the % interest per year?

    TIA

  7. Have sir Blue, your trainer, taught you regarding the legal matters on this?

Anyways your question is tricky, if she is seperated, she must secure an affidavit on finality on dissolution of marriage. And also the man should submit a form that he is not interested in the acquisition of her new property. I will check my files on this and update you from another rival real estate co.'s policy

Haven't sold DMCI homes property yet coz I am focusing my energy in another big developer also.

hello.. question for pips working sa bank..

  8. Planning on investing on smb inc. any advise on this?

Bumili na ako ng 1000 shares as Local Small Investor on its IPO. 8000 pesos turned 8500.00 on its closing (debut day). Earned 500 pesos but in the following it slowed a little pero okay lang basta wag lang baba ng 8.00 pesos per share yung inivest ko..

  9. pwede pa ba mag-invest dun sa Pag-ibig housing bonds ngayong 2008?

Yung sa Pag-ibig, LBP and DBP offices pwede pa ba?

10 to 12 K is good money to start a trading sideline. Buy any low price product and sell it. (just make sure that you monitor your money and don't spend it)

As this accumulates you might want to consider putting excess money for capital growth thru Pag-ibig bonds 10K min @ 8% per annum for 5 years.

Then as you continue your business regularly buy additional Pag-ibig bonds, until such time that you have a opportunity to use it for business or a more aggressive investment instrument.

  10. Light duty na lang sila or sa office personnel na lang. but still we need have to train them firearms handling just in case we go to war! Soldiers pa rin sila!

I don't see any problems with ROTC being mandatory again.

I just wish that the officials in charge of the cadets would be

    more considerate towards weak people.

For example, you can't compel someone with

asthma to take up ROTC without supervision of a doctor.

  11. Newborn Screening is needed at times like this. Have the Pediatrician instructed you regarding the benefits of Newborn Screening in order to correct the abnormalities a child can suffer in the long term? Example is mental retardation detection. NBS has been practiced in the U.S. since the early 1960s however in the Philippines, this was introduced in the late 1990s and was mandatory in 2000 to hospital which also includes one dose of hepa B vaccine.

Yes, it is true that Newborn Screening is done at University of the Philippines Manila, National Institute of Health (UPM-NIH).

UPM-NIH is the only provider of Newborn Screening here in the country and is the only one who can provide confirmatory test(s) for G6PD, Phenylketonuria and others for the newborn.

Philippine General Hospital has only one Medical Doctor specializing in Pediatric Oncology who handles this type of illness and who happens to be the only one who is a Pediatric oncologist in the country. I won't mention his or her name coz I was watching ANC and got tangled on this matter last year.

    Two hospital incidents peeps...

Id like to endorse the Manila Sanitarium sa Pasay City. Run by the Seventh Day Adventist, they are not at all similar to our 'catholic' run or named hospitals. Im a catholic myself but when i saw how my father was cared for and how sincere the MD's are in this hospital, I have decided to get all my medical needs through them. even if my dad died of complications from lung c., i never felt robbed or disappointed. Parking is not that good but thats the least of my concerns in this situation.

My fiancee recently gave birth sa Asian Hospital and becoz her copany will shoulder the portion, I am forced to bring her ther. Im disappoiunted by the way the xrays are done on preggy women, the nurses get lost within the hospital, the fees are exorbitant and even our OBGYNE pointed out that the services are dam lousy.

Also need to point out the these NEW BORN SCREEN TESTS IS A BIG SCAM! They found something on my son's result but not definite thus they need to do more tests. This time sa PGH na. What is the fuc_in use of the NEW BORN if theyll send me also to PGH to do further tests?! Mabuti sana kung libre!

    TOTAL BILL - PhP 120K !!!

wHOOOOA!!! Buti na lang pogi and normal son ko.... ;) AVOID ASIAN HOSPITAL!!!
