riv123
Whether performance is affected or not is not the point. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DONE. That is like allowing every employee to take money from the company at will provided that company remains profitable. You're lucky because you either have a boss who thinks like you, or is stupid and clueless about what is going on around him, or who doesn't care. On the basis of what you just said, had you been working for me, I would have fired you on the spot. Your job after all was to PREVENT inefficiencies and the inefficient use of bandwidth is just that irrespective of whether actual work speed or quality has been affected. You must change this attitude if you are to move up in the world. Because this is the root of the "pwede na" mentality of Filipinos. Im taking this as a constructive criticism. As a matter of fact, gamit ko machine is PentiumS-150 hehehe buti na lang hindi pa bumabaksak ftp server ko hehe Thanks for the critic. 2009 wishlist: Squid proxyAsteriskNew Machines CHEERS!!! boomouse
I just put out a new rule today: Anyone who is found to have ANY FILESHARING OR P2P CLIENT including bittorrent installed in a company-owned computer --> suspended for one week. Anyone who is proven to have ran or executed a P2P client of any kind (as noted in a network log or by personal knowledge of an admin, sysop, super, or team leader) while connected to the company's internet bandwidth --> fired on the spot with notices served to the association of call center and BPO personnel managers as well as formal notations made in their 201 files. This does not mean that the app is allowed to actually download a file. The mere execution of the file will be cause for termination. Quote Link to comment

Strikto talaga!!! The only way I can justify bonuses and profit sharing to my stockholders is if I ensure and demonstrate that every possible source of inefficiency and cost leaks is covered. Access to social networking does not enhance productivity and employees should not be doing this in time that the company has paid them for. As a concession, our Cisco routers will authorize access to employee accounts during the break periods of those employees but only during those times only. We added a new customized script. Now, the HR desk is immediately alerted when any account tries to access a port other than those listed to be officially in use. HR informs NOC, and NOC must confirm the alert within 15 minutes with details. Dito kasi sa 'pinas, pinaka spoiled na empleyado ang mga tech kasi madalas mga boss nila hindi naman masyadong tech. Malas nila at systems audit ang isa sa mga sideline ko dati. Quote Link to comment

boomouse
Realizing that social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have found a use among employees that has the potential of enhancing productivity, we have allowed employees to log into their Facebook and Twitter accounts during working hours subject to the following guidelines: Of course, this move was prompted by a similar move of an existing BPO client, an international news gathering and wirse services agency. To remain in step with them, we have adopted their policies. SOCIAL NETWORKING Q&A Is it OK for employees to have accounts on such social-networking sites as Facebook and Twitter? Absolutely. They’ve become an integral part of everyday life for millions of people around the world, and the Company already has a robust corps of employees with accounts on all the social networks. These networks also have become an important tool for employees. What are the general guidelines for such accounts? Employees must identify themselves as being from the Company if they are using the networks for work in any way. Posting material about the Company’s internal operations is prohibited on employees' personal pages, and employees also should avoid including political affiliations in their profiles and steer clear of making any postings that express political views or take stands on contentious issues. Employees should be mindful that any personal information they disclose about themselves or colleagues may be linked to the Company's name. That's true even if staffers restrict their pages to viewing only by friends. It’s not just like uttering a comment over a beer with your friends: It's all too easy for someone to copy material out of restricted pages and redirect it elsewhere for wider viewing. As multitudes of people have learned all too well, virtually nothing is truly private on the Internet. Anything specific to Facebook? It’s a good idea to monitor your profile page to make sure material posted by others doesn’t violate Company standards; any such material should be deleted. Also, managers should not issue friend requests to subordinates, since that could be awkward for employees. It’s fine if employees want to initiate the friend process with their bosses. How about Twitter? We’re still the Company. Don’t report things or break news that we haven’t published, no matter the format, and that includes retweeting unconfirmed information not fit for Company's wires. Feel free to link to Company material that has been published. It's difficult for most people to link to Company Mobile stories right now, so link to member and customer sites instead and try to vary the links to spread the traffic around. It's a good idea to reference the Company in the promo language, i.e. Just how much geek can be chic? Test your fashion IQ with this interactive game (Company): http://bit.ly/BvAqv <http://bit.ly/BvAqv> . Also, when tweeting, remember that’s there a big difference between providing an observation ("I nearly bumped into Johnny de la Cruz outside Ayala MRT Station") and an opinion ("I nearly bumped into the loudmouthed and obnoxious Johnny de la Cruz"). Why does the Company care or think it should have a say in what I put on my social networking feed/page? We all have a stake in upholding the Company’s reputation for fairness and impartiality, which has been one of our chief assets. These guidelines do not break new ground – they are consistent with the rest of our Statement of Values and Principles. They just take into account the new realities of the social- networking world and answer questions that many Company employees have asked. Do these guidelines apply just to specific Company employees? They apply to all employees, just as the Statement of Values and Principles does. We cannot expect people outside the Company to know whether a posting on Facebook was made by someone who takes pictures, processes payroll checks or fixes satellite dishes or answers subscriber inquiries. We all represent the reputation. Quote Link to comment
