banjo13
nung grade 6 ako, the school nurse gave a lecture about sex. parang sex ed crash course. haha. after the lecture, most of us were joking na ang bastos pala ng nurse. haha. but seriously, i dont think there would be anything objectionable with sex ed if done properly. maniaclara
i've always believed that knowledge is power. ignorance is bliss only when you consciously make that choice not to know, but for the inquisitive and curious mind that wants to know, suppression only fosters the desire further, and skirting around the issue only contributes to more misconceptions and confusion. i think sex education should be taught in school. i learned about the birds and the bees from a combination of so many things, but this was never brought up with me within my own family, and definitely not from my catholic all-girls school. and while i think i've learned enough, i still believe discussing it from different angles and perspectives would help young people make better choices. How I wish na one day kumalat sa mga paaralan ang mga actual footage ng withrawal, using condom, mga iniinom na pills pati pagpapaabort. Yes ignorance is a bliss. Quote Link to comment
Totsky2008
i believe we do need sex ed in elementary to make the young one aware of the consequences if it is handled incorrectly...... Quote Link to comment
Typoun
We need to have sex ed as early as prep. this would build a good foundation of sex roles and gender identity among our children Quote Link to comment
mamangkantutero
Despite the objections of certain sectors, I don't see anything wrong with the topic of sex and sexuality. If ever, it would help foster the correct attitude about sex in general. Quote Link to comment

Quote Link to comment
zolber
Talagang way behind tayo. Blame CBCP. Quote Link to comment
skykaLabaw
I think we should all have an open mind regarding this matter. We're still taken aback by how our society was restructured by the West. It actually was a light matter for our early Filipino ancestors. The truth is sex does and will happen. It would be better if we find a way to teach it properly to the youngsters than have them experimenting on their own. LoL. Seriously now, with the alarming rates of pregnant teens or HIV victims, this is a must. Prevention is better than the cure. Quote Link to comment
waterfreak
Sex Ed will have its benefits, as long as students see it correctly. Sex Ed in kindergarden? How do you explain that to kids? Quote Link to comment
cocoy0
@waterfreak: Start by setting the tone for later years. That sex is not a taboo question. Sex is normal and it is not inherently bad. And sex is a beautiful thing between people who love each other. And perhaps some safety lessons against child abuse. Quote Link to comment
miyong76
we, the younger gen is more open to such topic but conservatism still exist in RP especially among the bracket of 40 above kaya malabong i implement ito sa mga schools. Quote Link to comment
kanto-terrorist
while we are all debating about this sex ed, kids in US and Japan are being taught on the basic mechanics of engineering and robotics. too much bullshits in our education system. While at college, instead of putting my concentration on the subjects that matters most, like major subjects, math and english, Im frequently bothered to waste much needed time doing homeworks for philosophy and phil. literature as an archi student. So much contrast on what some noted technical schools are doing. seriously, dont we have too much sex topics in our daily lives? do we all need to specialize on it to become the next Paloma or Asia Agcaoili. Isnt that we are supposed to learn about sex the way we learn to walk and eat? Quote Link to comment
howarddeduct
Everything you need to know about sex is there! Edited June 16, 2010 by howarddeduct Quote Link to comment
bull114
malisyoso yang mga pari eh..anong masama sa sex ed? pag tinuruan ba ung mga bata ng proseso nito titira sila nang titira? in the first place nde intrinsically sinful ang sex talagang praning ung simbahan kaya maraming deprived na pari Quote Link to comment
kanski
early on in my medical training, i was exposed to families that were the poorest of the poor and yet, they had children ranging in numbers from 6-12. for example, during my first o.b. rotation, i had for a patient an early 50's mother (one of my very first patients- making her hard to forget) giving birth to her 12th child who comes out to this world already malnourished. nutritionally, the mother herself wasn't any better herself either. the father is nowhere to be found since he has to scrape for some money, having no permanent job. the older, shcool aged kids were at home fending for themselves and for their younger siblings. that memory (and others just like it) has always boggled me. without putting much thought into it (in passing really), i simply thought that sex education, including but not limited to the use of contraception, should be done. a few years later, i have moved up the medical rung when i encountered a 10 year old boy asking where he can have his penis examined. it hurt so much he says, adding that a copious, foul smelling liquid freely excretes from it. upon eliciting his medical history, i found out that he was coerced into having sex with a 12 year old girl- his first sexual partner. i just had to shake my head in disbelief before treating the poor boy. flash-forward to the present. the department of education has gone against the norm and the almighty catholic church and has advocated the teaching of sex education to public school students. i am all for it and wish them success in this program of theirs. i hope the new administration will support this move. amante
Dapat takutin ang mga bata into having sex, ever! joke seriously, long time cumming...este, coming ito.sex education and responsible parenthood! kung susumahin kasi, ano ang pag-asa ng bata na matutunan ito from their parents samantalang wala din naman nagturo sa kanila, what more kung gago ang nagturo sa kanila...asahan mo bang matino din ang maituturo nila sa kanilang mga anak. personally, i got my sex ed from the likes of Peter North, Ron Jeremy, Traci Lords and of course, Bambi Woods....but not everyone is as lucky as I to have "mentors" such as them That's why I think the state should step in.The general population of parents cannot provide this information to their childrenI believe that it is a mandate of government to see to it that its constituents are educated and informed for them to make the best choice....which at the end of the day is what DEMOCRACY is about Quote Link to comment
skitz
The church should stop speaking where it is a NON-EXPERT. Well, ok, expert sila when it comes to molesting altar boys. lol. But seriously, ano ba masama kung pag-usapan ang sex in the context of "health and science"? p#ta. Wave their magic wands and ask the tides to not rise? Wake up and smell the coffee bishops. The world is not flat, and we are not the center of the universe, insisting that this is so will not make it so. EDCUCATION! EDUCATION! EDUCATION! Ano ang masama ulit dun? Ano ba ang opposite ng educated/education? Di ba't IGNORANCE?! Yun ba ang gusto nyo mga pari? Ano? Sabihin nyo ang tunay nyong position! And oh yeah, I believe P-NOY is serious about this one issue. He is the one candidate who stood firm on this -- at the cost losing a few votes I would imagine. I think his DepEd and DOH will reflect his stand on the issue. cocoy0
Ang contention nila ay it is the parents' right to teach their own children. Quote Link to comment
skitz
Quote Link to comment
Darien Faust
Actually, dito lamang ang mga public schools over private schools. I attended a public high school, and not only did the teachers, particularly those that teach Bio, handle the instruction, there were symposiums arranged by the school and the local Municipal Health Office about reproductive health. In my opinion, I find it a great disservice to withhold sex education from the schools. One can be taught about the subject without being exposed to any lewd content. Besides, most teens won't ask their parents about the birds and the bees, and both the child and the parent might not be comfortable talking about sex. In that scenario, where else would the child learn about proper reproductive health, which is essentially the core of sex education, isn't it? Quote Link to comment
skitz
Samantala ito ay normal biological function of the human animal. Quote Link to comment
papaboar2
I really don't understand why this is an issue. Sex education is best at school. Parents are ok but not a lot of people can handle it in an objective manner. Kids these days are smarter than they are being credited for, if detractors think the illustrations are bad, try porn sites? Quote Link to comment
StaticJess
Actually, medyo nagdalawang isip din ako nung una. Ang age gap ng mga batang tuturuan nito is from Grade 5 to 4th year high school. I wanna see the module din kasi kung talagang maiprepresent ito sa mga bata in a way na matututo silang maging responsable sa mga sarili nila, sa ibang tao at sa kinabukasan nila. Ang laman ng modules na gusto ko is Contraceptions, Family Planning (For young people mga high school siguro), responsibility, bad effects/outcome or sicknesses in which allows the kids to reflect, etc. In short wag nya akong tularan....hehehe Quote Link to comment
