Mamahaling bar yan... me pamasahe involved....

Hmmm nagisip isip ako.. Bakit wala ako maisip na bar?

We used to go to the places in Legaspi Village a lot, but I have no idea whether these places are still open.

A favorite is that bar in Carlos Palanca whose name escapes me at the moment... very near Gweilos.

:P

are you talking about Bistro 110? the bar parallel to Gweilos. tambay ako dito dati e. the lawyers from Sycip and the people from SolGen drink here...nakainuman ko na parehong groups...

my personal best places to chill and read

- alexa's deli on dela costa st, salcedo village in makati

- seattle's best morato in qc

- starbucks in harborview ccp complex, manila

- cafe breton in greenbelt 3 makati

- gaudi's in greenbelt 3 makati

- gaudi's at the fort in taguig

- cafe bec at the fort in taguig

- highlands steakhouse in mall of asia, pque

sorry if not all of them have bars but all of them have that quiet ambience, setting and even views that spell serenity for me..and wifi internet for some when i have to take care of business.

How about a good Irish bar with Guiness draft. This is something I always look for when traveling in foriegn countries. Usually you'll find a great wooden bar with plenty of room to turn and scan the crowd. Sometimes you can see the street outside. Nice way to fill a long afternoon if you got an easy schedule

Wow, I've been searching for a bar with a real bar counter that serves cocktails here in Manila. Some place where you can relax listen to mellow music and just be at peace with your drink. I tried driving the streets in Malate-Adriatico area but ended up seeing supposedly "bars" with women wearing skimpy clothing and calling me in. I hope someone can guide me to a place like this other than a hotel bar. Can anyone recommend me to a similar place in the Manila-Pasay area? -_-

try oarhouse across malate church. its beside a japanese girly bar. its a tambayan for local and wires photographers. a lot of expats going to this place too. and not the wasted middle-aged kind too. its beer they serve here.try to sit at the table near the door so you can see the skimpily clad women from the bar next door.

if you want exotic drinks . the bar at westin never fails to impress a date .a bit d.o.m. ish though

Agree with oneSHOTwonder, Oarhouse is a pretty interesting place to hang out. Good food and good conversation can be had if you introduce yourself to the patrons. Wifi is also available. It can get pretty rowdy after a tough news day as the photogs blow off steam, though.

I remember feeling sooo adult pag nag pupunta sa Jazz Rhythms... Meron din nito sa Jupiter diba?

Another one -- East St. Louis in Makati ave. Cool place <img src='http://manilatonight...R#>/specool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

:P

Ano to, trip down memory lane ng mga bars?

I also used to frequent this place (Jazz Rhythms), our fave then were smooth jazz (Earl Klugh, Lee Ritenour, Joe Sample, Bob James, and the like). Kapag may chick na gusto kong ma-impress, I'll date her duon and we can also chat. Wala pang cellphone then, and the courtship was different. Some years later, a group of friends (80s contemporaries) tried to somewhat replicate this JR bar thing but was not successful. Nagsara narin itong 'Ten Years After' bar.

Hay! Those were the days...

There's a bar like this in Visayas Ave., QC. But it only serves San Miguel beer. It's near Mila's Lechon

In Malate... (NOT A GIRLY BAR BUT A BAR WITH a 'real bar')
1. OARHOUSE (malvar corner jorge bocobo)
2. thebar@1951 - 1951 adriatico street, near the Havana resto across the remedios circle.

These are the last two(2) remaining true bar.. the other one also is the the 'Other Office' along mabini street.

TYA (along sct esguerra) has a bar that can sit about 20 people. It's more of a lounge/wine bar. music's never too loud and it's never packed. Perfect for friday night drinks.

Harbour Square along Manila Baywalk looks like a good place to chill.
