Because Valentines starts with V, and if you look closely, V looks like 2 sticks being separated together(like chopsticks). Nobody wants to get separated with people they love don't they?

Now, we take V, and if you keep on repeating the letter V, it will start to sound like the letter B

Hmm.. maybe because it's a tradition that came from a brutal paganistic organization? Maybe, because it is pointless and have just been giving businesses to abuse prices? You don't need anyone to tell you when to give flowers and chocs to your partner, or to show how much you love her. You can do it anytime of the year. Like, today for example, why not buy your special someone flowers and chocolates. Go out on a date.. to the married guys, why not spend sometime with your wife, enjoy the weekend, treat her to some nice things. Tweak your family day to date night every once in a while.

No Vacant room in any motel, 1 day before, during and after Valentine. This is the only drawback during this point in time. Even any eateries, including fastfood, too many people and no vacant seat for you and your GF.
