  2. Is this the one where some wierd humanoids or something, wearing enclosed helmets gets filled with dark fluid?

Yup, whenever they captured a human they would force him to wear the helmet then fill it with the

fluid to convert him to their kind.

The humans had 'interceptors' to fight the alien flying saucers. The interceptor had a single missile attached to its nose.

At the time i was thinking what if you missed?

  3. Di ko kasi natatandaan. Baka Gillette or DEP. You guys remember DEP?

Caronia - with its cheesy song, Vonnell, Jet detergent, RC cola, Apple Sidra, Kaminomoto o-ban, and Tancho Tique.

Guess who the gentlemen in my avatar is. Kilala niyo iyan. Buhay pa. Siya ang boses ni Mermaid Man sa Sponge Bob.

    Ernest Borgnine?

  4. Remember the assassination attempt on Imelda? It's on youtube.

Just search Imelda Marcos. You might also want to check out

her bloomberg interview. She allegedly pulled some strings to

yank it from airing. Some really strange statements.

  5. wow! :D

mid-70's....so contemporary nya sina Linda Lovelace and Marilyn Chambers hmmm...

I've been meaning to have these 70's porno flicks pero I dont know where to find them. Deep Throat, Behind the Green Door, the Taboo series, all those Traci Lords ficks, the Debbie series, etc..

Do you do bittorrents? Try searching www.torrentz.com.

Tiyagaan lang nga as with any p2p, typical full-length movies are around 700MB, and on my connection 100MB takes about an hour.

  7. Meron pa ring excelente ham. I prefer Marca Piña Queso de bola among the edams. I like it dry and aged. We just opened the one I bought in 2005 pa. Sarap with ham (adelina), pandesal, mayo and freshly batidor home-made hot chocolate (peanut and cacao blend). :thumbsupsmiley:

Our Christmas food from the 60s to the present consist of these:

Ham, embotido, bangus relleno, queso de bola, leche flan with dayap, suman, macapuno, ube, garbanzos, pullman bread or pandesal, roast chicken, menudo, sopas or chicken sotanghon.

New Year's eve naman noon sa Malabon ay laging may morcon, lechon, prawns, crabs, oysters, calamares, kilawin and kinilaw because inuman na.

    Happy holidays to all.

What's your menu for the New Year?

Wow, such a marvellous spread, Storm.

Made extra thick. Incidentally I've been on the prowl for lechon baka

for the longest time. I remember Ambrosia's along Katipunan used to serve it. May alam pa kayong

establishments which offer this? Yung puwede kilo-kilo, not the whole calf.

  8. I also watched the Night Stalker, Ghost Stories and Twilight Zone. I also liked Fantastic Voyage, Mission Impossible, The Mod Squad, The Streets of San Francisco, Starsky and Hutch, The Professionals, etc.

Saw my first porn flick on a Super 8 projector. Walang sound, naka-project lang sa wall. Burnt the bulb out after a

marathon 1 hour session. We kept repeating the 2 reels we had.

First X rated movie seen on Betamax: Misty Beethoven.

Funny but i can't remember the first conventional movie.

  10.

i wish i got a chance to join TV POW! i could still remember it..lying down on our sofa me glued on tv shouting POW! POW!

Nakasali ako diyan. Ang hirap pala. Pag sigaw mo ng POW parang may delay

bago mag-fire.

  11. Hmmm... not sure if the San Miguel HQ bldg was there in the 70's. I believe SMC constructed the bldg in the 80s.

From what I remember, there were only very few structures in Ortigas center:

    1. The Philcomcen Bldg.

    2. Meralco

    3. Chronicle Bldg--now the Lopez Bldg.

    4. The Strata 100

    5. The Ortigas Bldg.

    6. St. Francis

    7. Lourdes School

    8. The Rizal Golf Driving Range where the ADB now stands on

    9. A couple of more old bdgs near the Strata 100

    10. The Banco De Oro Complex was then the Benguet Exploration HQ.

The MegaMall, Galleria and EDSA Shang complex lots were empty except for the grass and talahib which grew there--which made it ideal for the Motocross races held there by Butch Chase and company. Crossing was still flat and was a major intersection without the underpass-- much like the Ortigas intersection then without the flyovers now.

The Ortigas Center area already had the streets paved and laid out as they are now--which then made it ideal for the Slalom races held by the likes of Vip Isada, Pocholo Ramirez, Dante Silverio and Company.

I remember the Eastwood area having the JRC compound which then housed the Karting circuit--it was fun as they opened the track to the public when races where not held.

The entire stretch of Libis that now hosts the bars and restaurants were totally devoid of any structures except for the Cosworth garage at the end near where the approach of the flyover is now. Cosworth and Nodalo's were the first to introduce the 4:2:1 Headers to the local market, remember those shops?

Do you remember the accident when they were building Strata 100? They even had pictures of workers

hanging on for dear life to the posts when they collapsed.

  12. Padaan lang sa thread. Thanks for keeping us up sis Augustmoon.

'Twas a busy week. And I'm in the middle of something big. Parang thesis.

Today is the start of the BER months. Malapit na ang jingle bells.

In the 70s, jingle had a different meaning which are still understood at present.

JINGLE was a popular music magazine. We call the music in the ads as jingle.

Jingle has another meaning though which is "to pee".

"Basta driver, sweet lover. Jingle lang ang pahinga."

Conjugation of jingle: jumingle, kajijingle, jumijingle, jingle, jijingle.

O sige najijingle na ko.

Heard my first xmas carol yesterday. piped-in music at megamall. Talagang tinapat sa unang araw ng BER.

  13. As for Pearl Harbor, the definitive film has to be "Tora, Tora, Tora" from the 70s. Long after this film was released, footages from it were still being used in mini-series and regular TV series. At the time, it was quite a rarity to have Americans and actual Japanese in the same film (war films usually featured Chinese or any Asian who could be made-up to look Japanese). Another rarity was that there were no stars on the American side. I believe there were Japanese stars on their side of the film. It was also the first Hollywood-produced film on WWII that gave a somewhat sympathetic view to the Japanese side. I can't remember the actor or the name of the Japanese admiral, but he had the most memorable line in the film (in subtitles, or course): "I'm afraid we might just have awakened a sleeping dragon."

    Toshiro Mifune?

  14. Speaking of action stars...

It was quite hip during the 70s for black stars to be featured in action films. Just think of "Shaft" with Richard Roundtree. There were also retired American football players such as Jim Brown and Fred Williamson who starred in "Three the Hard Way" (sorry, I can't recall the third man). Of course, there was Jim Kelly in "Enter the Dragon."

As for "A Bridge Too Far," my favorite scene was that of Robert Redford leading his troops while they paddled their boats along a river. While they were being shelled and while he paddled like crazy, Redford kept reciting the "Hail Mary." Other stars that I remember from "A Bridge Too Far": Laurence Olivier, Liv Ulman, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Sean Connery, Maximillian Schell. Sino pa? One thing about "A Bridge Too Far" is that it's one of the very few Hollywood films about an Allied loss.

Yup, if you saw Pearl Harbor you would have thought the Americans won.
