Which Is/was Better: Dorm, Room For Rent Or Apt?

I experienced living in two dorms when I was still in college in UP Madilim, este, Diliman.

1) Kalayaan Residence Hall - This is the co-ed dorm for all freshmen. I liked this dorm because we were taken care of by senior students. Every floor (from basement to the third floor for both the female and male wings) had one senior or graduate student in charge. We also had a lot of social activities to make us freshies feel welcome, at home and not experience "culture shock." Food was also provided but we didn't have a choice. We had soup with sago once a week if I remember it correctly. :D The only other hassle in this dorm was you had to be inside the dorm before 8pm every night and if you had to go home for the weekend, there was a pass that you have to show and a log-in sheet to sign. I don't know if that's still the practice today.

Once you're a sophomore though, you have to move to other dorms like Molave or somewhere else.

2) Camia Residence Hall - This is one of the dorms for sophomore to senior female UP studes. Like Kalayaan, food was also provided. I didn't like this dorm a lot because instead of having just one room mate like in Kalayaan, I had three roommates! One roommate was a nerd, one was a socialite, and one was a man-freak. I was the invisible one because I always went home at least twice a week. I was like a square peg that just couldn't fit in. :P

Man, if i had money to rent an apartment then, I would've done that and lived the way I wanted to live. Yeah, right ... as if my Mom would allow me to live alone. Ahihihi. :D

stayed in a dorm for three months during my freshman year at a village along katipunan. it was horrible. it was an all girls' digs and all the girls were from miriam. i was made to feel left out. ok lang. what got to me was the place itself. it was icky. i had bed bug bites all the time. eventually convinced my parents to just let me carpool to and from home.

yung penthouse room sa Madison bldg. sa Taft (considered bang apartment un?)...my friend lived there and naging tambayan namin yun buong college life namin...sayang lang kasi sobrang torpe nung mayari at wla man lang kaming nakitang chicks dun kahit minsan...hirap naman magdala ng sarili naming bebots since hindi samin yung place...

During my college days I never tried living in a dorm or an apartment because our house is just a few blocks away from school. But if ever, I'd pick a small apartment anytime. Mahirap na pag yung roomie mo kleptomaniac, magulo, maingay, tamad, burara at nanggagalaw ng mga gamit mo or nanghihiram ng walang paalam. At mamaya, magdala pa ng ibang tao yan sa pad nyo, pag may nawala you'll never know who took it.

At least when I'm on my own, everything's gonna be clean and organized. Pag may hinanap ako, I know where to find them and it's placed right there where it's supposed to be.
