Doc oralspecialist,

My son (going to be 3 yrs old) has a cavity in his molar teeth... I tried sending him to a dentist but he can not tolerate the opening his mouth too long... What would you recommend....

If you mean by not tolerating he gets tired easily, then the dentist can place a simple piece of rubber called a mouth prop to keep the mouth open. If he has difficulty with the taste or is uncomfortable, perhaps a children's sedative will prove effective. :D

Thanks doc for your immediate reply... a piece of rubber was also used but to no avail... i think a children's sedative was also the advice by the dentist(which she can't do)... do you perform this kind of treatment doc?

I don't do sedation on children but I can refer you to a children's dentist or pedodontist. Just pm me your location or the most convenient landmark ner your place and I'll see who I can refer. :D

doc oralspecialist, thanks for sharing your expertise among the members, i enjoyed reading this thread.

i have a question myself.

for the sake of curiosity, what are the top 5, or 10 most expensive dental procedures?

thanks!

   Thanks pro. I do what I can to help! :D

I can list the top 5 because if I list more, there aren't too many differences in the prices anyway. :D

1. Dental Implants

2. Orthodontic treatment

3. Complete fixed dentures

4. Complete removeable dentures

5. Fixed bridges, depending on the number of teeth involved

I hope this satisfies your curiosity! :D

doc tanong lang, i've got one of my molar to have a tempo filing.

kaso nalipat ako ng work place from manila to cavite. napabayaan ko na yung

tempo filing (d na ko makabalik sa dentist ko layo kasi eh) and napansin ko unti-unti syang lumulubog. parang

lumalaki yung butas from the bottom of pasta.

may way pa bang ma save pa yung tooth ko? balak ko na sanang ipabunot kaso

sayang eh. kumikirot na sya kapag tinatamaan while eating.....

Thanks Bro Shinta! O sige, eto mga sagot ko:

From hardman

doc mgkano ang braces up & down?

Usually I don't post our rates but since they're more standardized than regular treatments, they usually go from 75k up. You have to ask our resident ortho and I doubt that she'll give a discount for MTC members. That discount is usually from me. :D

From daimaoh

Unfortunately our office doesn't accept Maxicare. Sorry dude! :(

From metallica

doc, musta??? magkano palinis ng ipin???

I can only give you a ballpark figure for ethical reasons but it's usually above 1k. That's without subtracting the discount. :D

I hope my answers helped you guys! :D

First of all, bakit nilagyan ng temporary filling? Root canal ba yan? If that's the case, baka 'di pa masyadong nalinisan yung canal kaya may infection uli, hence the pain. May pressure kasi pag kumakain at naididiin sa infection. Pwede naman ituloy ang root canal at pagalingin yung infection e. :D

Second, lulubog talaga yung temporary filling kasi hindi kasing tibay yan ng permanent for obvious reasons. Ang temporary filling inilalagay lang for about a week or so habang under observation yung ngipin o may ginagawang filling sa lab. Pwede mong ipa-palit yung filling sa dentista o ituloy yung complete treatment para permanent na ang ilalagay dyan.

Hope this helps! :D

:) hello peeps! i'm new in this site and my compliments to all! di ko alam

na possible pa rin to have a sensible topic like this over the net.. i’m kinda

impressed!!

anyways, i’ll dive na rin sa topic.. doc, maitanong ko po lang kung magkano

ang dental implant sa clinic nyo or in any mainstream dental clinic for that matter, gusto ko pong malaman magkano per unit (tooth). i know there’ll be a price variation, depende sa type of material that you’ll use, let’s just say i wanted the high end material to be use for my implants.. and if you don’t mind, can you give me a short abstract of how this procedure goes.

I used to have braces, but since i lost my retainers 3 yrs ago i never went back to my dentist & now i think i'm having a relapse. If the relapse is mild lang, can i just get retainers done? or do i need full braces again?

hello. may itatanong lang ako.

i usually brush my teeth again after brushing. bakit pag sa first time ko magbrush, my gums bleed, pero sa second time, wala na yung dugo? di naman virgin yung gums ko e hehehe

yun lang po. tnx

Wow, I really took my time to answer this post!

Anyway, the first time you brush gums that bleed, it's because there's food lodged in the gums and it's the food and bacteria in there that irritates the gums. During brushing the dirt gets dislodged but since the gums are already swollen and engorged with blood, they easily get punctured by the dirt and sometimes the toothbrush.

The next time you brush, since the dirt is gone, the gums aren't as swollen as they used to be and aren't as susceptible to irritation and trauma. They can withstand the brushing and have healed since there is no more irritation. :D

Well, prices usually depend on the location, the difficulty of the case, or the experience level of the dentist. Makati prices are usually higher than say, Tondo but it doesn't necessarily mean that the quality is less. In my case for example, the orthodontist is a former board examiner and haas been practicing for almost 30 years. Orthodontic treatment, in fact, usually comes out as a break even deal when you calculate the value of the materials and labor as compared to the prices. :D
