i bought a set of cctv (1 monitor with 4 cameras) last april 16, 2011. last week one of the charger (connecting the camera to the electrical outlet) conked out. so i told my messenger to bring the defective charger to the cdrking store where i bought it. at the back of my receipt says 6 months warranty but the store says they'll only replace if a defective item is returned within 2 weeks. besides, they said they don't have spare chargers to replace defective ones!

hmmm ... tomorrow i'd be paying them a visit, but i'll bring along my friend from san juan municipal office just in case they don't want to uphold consumer protection laws

I used to buy photopaper from CDR-King ....... but usually a few weeks after you printed on them, they tend to fold up. And even after putting them under reams of copy paper in the hopes that the photos will straighten out, it didn't.

Also used to buy their CDR and DVDR ........ but ever since the DVD drives in my PC conked out, I haven't been buying much.

Have't tried their USB thumb drives.

i paid them a visit the other day. their manager said they don't guarantee accessories. what accessories? i said, the chargers are part of the main unit otherwise there'll be no pictures! i challenged her to show me where in their warranty stamp says that. she then said they have no stock of the damaged item. well, not my problem, i replied, i just have to refund the whole thing. i made sure my voice is loud and clear to discourage the long line of customers from buying. i said their warranty stinks and they don't stand behind their products. she then called up several branches and soon enough, she changed the defective unit in 15 minutes.

yeah, i was on a warpath that day.

Ive been buying "disposables" from CDR-King for years. By disposables I mean mice, keyboards, flash drives etc... I consider those things disposables since in general, they don't tend to last very long regardless if you buy branded or not. case in point, I have a CDR-King wired optical mouse on my desk which i've had for 2 years, its still working fine and no problems, on the other hand I have an expensive Logitech Wireless mouse that's less than a year old and the left click buttton is starting to stick.

Realistically speaking, based on the pricing you rrally shouldn't expect their stuff to last more than 2 years tops. You really do get what you pay for.

Now in the case of your adapter issue, something similar happened to me with a HD enclosure. What I wound up doing was going to electronics boutique and buying a multivolt adapter which in my opinion had a hell of a lot better build quality anyway to save myself from the hassle of arguing with the more often than not idiotic salespeople at CDR-King

looks like I won't buy my first 500gb external HDD here with those kind of product reliability and warranty problems.

we backup because the data are really very important to us. for backups i prefer to use the best brands. my personal favorite is western digital hdd, an item you may never find in cdrking.

I buy a lot of products from CDR King, so far my router has lasted almost 35 months and still no problem as opposed to my Link-Sys router (at 4 times the price) which lasted all of 4 months before dying. On the other hand, my friend bought the same exact model of router from CDR King and it died after only 9 months. I would say you can get lucky or unlucky, it just depends on the luck of the draw.

part of their slow service (I think) stems from the fact that they have to write down the name of items on the receipt and write down the same thing on another sheet of paper (for inventory purposes I guess)

they could have just made use of the duplicate copy in their receipt and check the items that were sold after store hours.

Rule of thumb with CD-R King: You get what you pay for.

Don't entrust your valuable files to products that only assure a week for warranty. So, I'd say be wary about storage devices especially if they are of higher capacity.

I am a loyal patron of CD-R King. The most recent product I bought from them - not counting the pedometer that literally broke soon as I tried putting it on - was a table for 47"-50" LCD TVs. My PC table is from CD-R King. The webcam on it is CD-R King brand, so is the pic.

We all buy products for what they are supposed to do. If you think what CD-R King offers will not live up to what they were built for, there is always the more expensive, hopefully more reliable, brands. ^_^

chambahan lang din naman sa cdrking. madami na din ako nabili sa cdrking na tumatagal talaga. kahit nga yung mga dirt cheap na cdr nila tumatagal sakin. meorn din naman na kahit bagong burn palang ay sira na. medyo chamba chamba lang talaga ata. i recently bought a dvdrw from them para magburn ng divx to play on my dvd player. naka ilang rewrites na din ako at okay parin naman. kahit kasi branded minsan makaka chamba ka din ng defective and its even more irritating because unexpected mo yun. unlike sa cdrking na magugulat ka kasi tumagal yung binili mo na item. the advantage of branded ones are their long warranty periods kasi mas may peace of mind ka na pwede mo mapa ayos free of charge in a longer time span.

Hit and miss products. I think that's why they can sell it so cheap is because they make use of us, customers, as their QA. Besides it's sometimes cheaper to just get a new one that go through the process of replacement/repair/return, and I am sure they are counting on that. Who knows if they are buying a bad batch because of the high rejection rate, relabel them, and have the customers do the QA. :D

Speaking of external hard drives, their items are considerably more expensive than the ones in Gilmore. For example, a 320gb external HD from them can cost around 3.3k - 4k+, while the market price of this item in most shops in Gilmore are below 3k.

trusting your backup data to unknown brands of hd is a no-no for me.

All the HDMI cables i have bought from cdrking have conked out in a couple of months use. HDMI from cdrking = no good/Don't buy

So far yung ecomax rechargeable batteries ko have lasted a long time.

Last week I purchased from CDR-King an HDMI Cable to use for my recently-bought 23" LED TV. I hope that it will last at least a year for me unlike the keyboard, mouse and speakers I bought from them that was busted for only 4 1/2 months of moderate use.

I can't imagine how an HDMI cable could malfunction. It's just a cable with no moving parts, no electronics... unless it's plugged and unplugged.

I have a CDR king wireless router that's been on for 4 years straight. The black one. 3 lan cables are physically connected to it and several wireless devices also.

All my hard disk enclosures, 5 of them are still functioning. They are only used for backing up and then stored for a few months.

I have an 8G thumb drive, the cheapest type. 4 months and its reading errors already.

I bought a wireless security camera labeled with 20 meters night vision. It couldn't see beyond 5 meters. I returned it and got a refund.

OFF TOPIC:

this is my personal experience with outlets and cables -- some ultra cheap outlets and cables are maybe low in copper percentage (composition). that's why my house guests (especially electrical engineers) are often dumbfounded whenever i show them my made-in-china outlet. my nokia cellphone charges whenever i plug its charger there but not my daughter's picky sony ericcson charger. the latter however charges without problem in an eagle-brand outlet. believe it or not. i suspect the contacts are not as good conductor as they should be.

as for the cables, maybe the same reason applies. no wonder almost ALL myphone users buy a second charger after a few months: the charger that comes with the box are defective within a couple of months use, KAHIT ANONG INGAT ANG GAWIN MO SA CHARGER. i should know, many of my employees bought myphone and they got the same bad experience. not to mention myphone's bad 1-week-only warranty for their chargers! i was also a victim of myphone.
