where can you buy these cams locally...are they expensive?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

one seller of lomography cams here in manila is in UFO gallery 85 arraulo st. addition hills san juan. i dunno the stocks and the prices. there are lomo cams in montage greenbelt. may actionsamler at frogeye dun. some are seen in rustans. i saw pop9 and holga there. a friend of mine just bought her lc-a and colorsplash flash there at rustans and blew her credit card to hell. adik eh. heeh. meron din sa hidalgo nung parang holga but its cousin the woca. the best bet to look for these cams are at ebay. yung sa akin bili ko lang second hand eh.

lomography is a lifestyle product of the elite? hmmmm. interesting. the barrier the rich make just to set them apart from the masses... sigh.

So here is my attempt at being elite!

TADANG!  :D as you can see its a poor attempt. ElRey your Lomo Phone pic looks great!
But i have to admit that Novos Pics have far greater artistic value! It beter be!  Thats an expensive camera that cant take correct pics!  :D

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The only reason a lomocam is expensive here is because there's not much demand for it. Toy cameras (holgas, lomos, etc.) cost anywhere from $15 to $50 in the US, which is as cheap as cameras get over there. If anything, the roots of lomography started as a rebellion to the "elite" way of taking photos (expensive cameras with hi-end lenses).

actually lomocams have origins in spy-era russia. where anything that had metal parts were easily detectable in airports, etc. a fully plastic machine could be easily hidden and would not sound the alarm.

not at all a plaything for the elite, i'd say. :)

thirteen is correct. its not elite at all. theyre really cheap cams. far cheaper than digital. and they take the most horrible photos - blurred, defocused, grainy. but thats the beauty of it. i love my photos and its flaws. go post all of you. bizmans pic is shot like a colorsplash with blue filter. elreys like a holga. and those digicam pics can be "lomolized" to make em look and feel different. theres a filter you can download called "melancholytron". google it. astig yun. open ang forum na to for all photos na hindi aral. hahaha.

maybe its the way the lomo society markets it. business na eh. kaya ang lufet ng marketing. nilagay as an alternative to "correct" photography. a lifestyle. eh maraming mga non-pro photographers kesa pro, yung mga hobbiyist lang kaya siguro "click" (pun intended) sa kanila. ayan and they found their own world. niche market. galeng di ba? dont worry bout the price and all the eklat. just shoot. dont worry about the rules. its discovered by vienna students in a junk shop ferchrissake! hehehehe. i just dont see where the "eliteness" came in. kase mahal? kase iba? kase film? hmmm.

Nice pictures novocaine... after supporting digital cameras, you could just appreciate traditional ones... for the untouched, unedited pictures... :thumbsupsmiley:

going digtal means taking easy shots. digital means convenience and instant satisfaction. go embrace your technology. theres nothing wrong with that. heeh.
funny story: one day i was shooting my small cousins with my lomo, they would rush to me after and grab my cam to look at the back, they were surprised to see that theres no screen.
