i dont know if im that late...

but as for a CS .. with a good doctor.. .. and in makati med.. more or less..

the damage could lead to around 120,000 ... and dont forget about the prof fee of the doctors...

there... good luck

120K just for hospital bill ? if you will add the doctors pf then it would be around 150K-200K ? wow !

@ otitismedia .. yeah a cs would cost that much :D...

but that was around .. 1997 back when my lil bro was born :D

so that would be a lot more now...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..

afaik

it would be a hard sight.. for a family member to see .. their kid cry a lot.. especially when it comes to taking blood/ or inserting an iv...

sorry to say but we are not perfect...

there are just those days that... we just can't find that vein...

or that artery...

and we understand that pain... because we too have family members.. that suffer the same fate... at times..

so please accept my apologies....

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

lets... see

hmmm just a few more experiences..

Phil heart center

had my lolo confined in heart center :D hehehe

extremely nice place (yes ive worked/trained there so im a bit bias)

really cold...even in hallways.. (better than hot..)

the regular nurses here has a 1:5 ratio... so... the patients are ... more or less given appropriate attention

...

The shifting here is usually 12 hours (7am-7pm)

also..... they have what you say as credit suspension (where they give you a notice..for you to pay/downpayment..)...

of course when you're in the er.. they treat.. you.. and make you stable... and look for the things that you might need...

get labs... and the like

if you need to be confined that is the time you need to go to the admissions .....

and check with them..

.... and usually... to give downpayment.. is usually within 24-48 hours ... so its not on the priority of the patient...

.......

as of the moment.. i believe heart center is expanding... they added.. a few more wards... and had changed most of the beds into new ones.. plus placed in new flat screen tv.. (although generic)

furthermore they are renovating wards :D

now thats cool :D hehehe

...........................

......................

...............

.........

.....

another experience...

uhm

st luke's medical center

okay...

i got confined here a lot of times.. and so as my kid bro..

lately my bro

got dengue...

and was ... confined here...

for roughly 7-9 days...

now that is long so.... i took the night duty ... meaning i took care of my lil bro at around 4pm to around 5am....

i experienced and i saw great and sad things....

as for the admission... my brother was inserted... (or tried to ) 3x .. just to get an iv in. He was having an intermittent fever.. that would range from 38-40++ anyway.. they placed ice packs on him for his body temp to go down..

it was a frightening sight. We got a room. No problem about it.. the people there were focused in their service. if you need anything they could be able to provide it to you. But of course the price tag is a bit high.

the nurses their had a ration of around 1:7 (and at times would reach to 13) if they are lucky they would have a trainee with them and have 1-3patients only. They have 8 hour shifts.. but could have up to 16hours (7-3 3-11 11-7)

anyway.. to the normal guy everything would look fine.. but to someone like me being in the medical field

.. it pains me to know the "ehem" things that they do....

....

There were certain situations that you would be very happy ... and very sad.

(+)

-while my kid bro was having his fever certain nurses would come in and do sponge baths for him. This particular nurse was quite good. She had visited and done it 2x on my brother over an 8 hour shift.

-the room was quite good wifi, ref, tv,safe, and the like.but of course it cost a lot :D thank God for insurance.

-so basically logistic and equipment and what not.. they have a huge advantage over other hospitals..

(-)

There was a nurse that was kind and was a fellow thomasian like me (we even know the same people) sad to say... ayaw pumitik ng bubbles sa iv.

tinamad na... panay half pitik.. (bubbles in the iv lines could lead to complication = death )

>>> i had to do it and finish it when she left......

Some of the nurses were doing petiks sa nursing station.

>>> while i was doing all of the sponge bath. (and my kid bro was around doing 39-almost 41's)

A particular resident in OB was so _________ that while trying to re insert an iv she was just saying "plastic lang yan"

>>> talk about apathetic and the nerve..... (she was vein searching or blind shotting) argh

the bill was around 12,000

hehehe i mean thats what we paid for around 7-9 days of stay...

i guess the total would be around 72,000... (insurance covered around 60,000)

...............................

........................

..................

..............

.........

.....

....basta.. i guess its in the eye of the beholder ika nga...

there are just these times.. especially when you're in the know that you see the wrong stuff that other people do....

sad to say... geeez

Apology accepted.. its not you man but it helps atleast may nakakaunawa. we got over it na naman. hehehe. un lang last experience ko is with PGH kasi the specialist of my baby needs to do a liver biopsy and her hospitals are in PGH or st lukes. recommended na nung doc is pgh although i had my doubts para matapos na dun na din namin ginawa. as expected from a government hospital. sobrang bagal ng service pay ward kana nga lalagyan nlang ng dextros ang baby e 5-6hrs kapa magaantay the same with aalisin ang dextros nakuu 5-6hrs kung ndi mo pa ifofollow up ng ilang ulit sa nurse station ndi mapapabilis and the worst i think is the process of getting a room and discharge may appointment pang process na aabutin ka ng syam syam.. tas pagmay refund ka bec you used your philhealth.. nakuu after a month mo pa makukuha.. kung gusto makatipid ok sa pgh kaso chaga ka nga lang sa service, treatment at pagaantay.

My problem with most doctors is they don't know how to stick to their schedule and hence waste other people's time. Dr. A's published schedule is supposedly 10-12. WTF?

To current doctors, please know na important sa lahat ng tao, mahirap o mayaman, ang oras. So please, stick to your sched. Or at least inform your clients, through your secretary, that you won't be able to make it on time or make it to the clinic at all...

Unlike sa Asian where they have a running bill, when my wife gave birth pagbabayarin ka lang ng deposit tapos kung matagal stay nyo, from time to time pababayarin kayo unti unti BUT there wasnt a case where hindi sila nagbigay ng meds or care to my wife or my twins becoz of money matters. Alaga talaga kami dito, ganda facilities, though some people complain mas marami nurses sa Moneycal... este medical city, well if you have to pay so much then rightly so.

Bad trip talaga medical city na-trauma kami dun, its not like wala kaming pambayad, its just the f#ckng way they treated us, and nung nasa waiting area ako ng ICU, there were families na nag-aaway away pa bcoz of money matters... naintindihan ko naman that its a business pero in comparison to other establishments...

pag nagpagawa ka ng kotse, bago ba magpalit ng kahit anong pyesa pagbabayarin ka ba? usually after the service, or at least in some cases from time to time periodically, hindi yung di nila ibibigay meds or yung room pag di kayo nag-bayad agad.

I don't think witholding the medication of a patient pending payment is the practice of this hospital (Medical City) or for that matter any other hospital of the same caliber (Asian Hospital, Makati Med, St. Lukes).....

Also, if ever, they will require you to make progress payment, this is usually done during office hours only and not in the middle of the night.... and madami sila ATM sa loob ng hospital kaya di ka na lalabas...

These things i know because my mother was also confined in Medical City battling liver cancer and she stayed there for almost 2 months and we spent almost a million in hospital bills and me balance pa nga when we were discharged .... but no regrets kase at least we tried to give her the best medical treatment available during her remaining days....

Also, i know Medical City has a Customer Relations department where you can bring all complaints and they will immediately attend to you and give you feedbacks...

Medical City is where I almost lost my arm because the nurses refused to listen to my complaint that the IV was improperly set. It took 2 days of arguing and my arm beginning to turn green before the nurses and doctors took a close look. True enough, the IV was just pouring the meds and fluids into my arm and not into my veins.

What did they say?

"Sorry, we should have looked closer."

When I asked that the meds and dextrose fees for those two days be removed from my bill, their reply was a very annoying "sir, it still went into you, so you have to pay for it."

WTF??? And if I had gangrene would I also have to pay for the removal of my arm?

BTW, the reason I was hospitalized was for a tummy ache which turned out to be gas. Couldn't they have figured that out without my having to stay 5 days in this fcuked up money hungry hospital?

Oh, and I agree, they ask for payments as the meds are given. Since I was alone, did they expect me to go to the ATM, IV and all?

Fcuking Medical City, may you all rot in hell.

When my sister had her gallbladder stones removed, she had it done in cardinal santos. The night after the surgery someone came into her room n stole both her phone n her sister in lawwho waswatching her. The nurses claimed it wasnt their fault as they posted a sign that valuables were to be not left unattended. Hello they eere in the room n how does a theif get past decurity at the lobby n the nurse's stationIN FRONt of rhe elevator @ 3 in the morning wthout even being asked where he was going. When i asked what happened to the visiting hours rule they claimed it wasnt enforced because people always wanted to come n ho, but they insist no door be locked coz they have to chevk patients s@%t. Thry were willing to settle but only to 6 k my sister lost her iphone dammit n her sis in law lost a smartphone

If we are to identify st lukes, please indicate whether it's Global City or Quezon City.

A number of doctors would say "Puhleez, don't associate me with The Fort, St Lukes QC ako."

Why: Maganda ang facilities but the competence of The Fort is in question. May mga umiikot nga din na rumors where doctors would find a way para ma-admit ang patient. Example: A simple stomach ache would make it sound like from a doctor na baka appendicitis na sya and kelangan i-admit for observation so and so.

Amen to that, a friend of mine also told me the same problem......improper IV insertion.
