Hello Guys! I am considering of migrating to cebu. don't know why, but maybe because i wanted to live in a place thats more economical and environmental friendly.

I will be checking the cebu next month. in preparation if it would be suitable for my lifestyle.
I know it would be much lonelier there as compared to be living here in manila.

Maybe you guys could help me with this.

where can i stay in cebu that has a budget friendly rates and clean rooms. (just me and myself. no one else)
how do i travel there? taxi, jeep, etc? rate and what attraction i can check on.

maybe anyone can give me some details like thier rate for minimum wage. any other taxes and exemption? thanks!

I have been going to Cebu back and forth since April. The people are nice. you can check out Pacific Pensionne along Jones Avenue. The room rate is as low as P650. There are many night life in Cebu. Check out I.T. Park and Crossroads. Also, you can go to Paseo. Cebu is at the middle of Manila and Davao (in terms of lifestyle). You can ride taxi and you will be in places within 15-30minutes. I'm not that familiar yet with minimum wage and taxes but definitely lower than Manila.

Wala na yung orig na larsian in front of fuente osmena. Nilipat na sila. There are now 2 larsians... one near chong hua hospital (same street), the other in mandue along corner AS fortuna-Hernan Cortes sts.

As for the lechon, if kakain ka lang...check out the malls usually the good ones have outlets there. Or if you're the adventurous type, you can go to Talisay marami dun o sa Mandaue. But even in cebu city, there are lots of lechon outlets. Just ask you hotel receptionist what they recommend. now if you want to order, there are few sikat names like Alejo's, etc. But marami talaga masarap magluto ng lechon, just ask your contacts here.

good luck! and enjoy your stay.

i went to Larsian near chong hua hospital... hindi pala kalinisan yung place. nagback-out ako. afternoon kami pumunta..medyo madilim sarado yung ibang ihawan.

since i was 15 years old ive been studying in cebu, got myself educated there , USC TC ( Talamban Boy ) COMPE 98. then migrated here in manila after a short stint in the army. LAst January 16 - 22 2009 i decided to spend my entire entire 13th month pay and christmas bonus and revisited my relatives and friends and celebrate sinulog as well. many things did change, Larsian was indeed split into two areas, fuente and As Furtona , Mandaue. White gold no longer exist , Ayala expanded a space called " The Terrace " , SM added a new section called the " North Wing " , my hang out place in front of what used to be CIS then became " Crossroads " , Camp Lapulapu is no longer in Lahug, IT Park became the busiest section during wee hours ( in my time we hang out near USP for drinking session and IT park for Weed intake ) the Old Tung Yan bulding is gone, there is now a flyover from ayala to banilad .

But some good things never change, Jaguar KTV is still open , as well as Infinity , Papillon is still in business ( hayyy those were the days ) pungko pungko is still the best street food , kinabot and Ngohiong and Steam Rice is still the favorite Student budget meals. and Soup #5 in Mandaue MArket still the best.
New Hang outs like MAngo1 and Mango2, LOft is someting you guys need to check out as well.

I stayed the first 3 days in MArco POlo then the rest of my vacation was at Shiangri-la MActan , a old college buddy loan me one of his car so the transportation problem i encounter is trying to recall the street directions.

My hotel accomodations was expensive but it was worth it, my consultancy shouldered my shiangri-la stay for two days ( De-luxe suite ), and the rest two days i asked to be moved to the local rates rooms , Shiangri-la gave me the previlage of staying at the same room for less price ( tnx to Sir Chapschaps of MTC ). i've never been pampered all my life , i even get to eat dinner for free ( aside from the complimentary bfast ) for the last two days and martin brenner Gm of Shiangri-la gave me a bundle of Shiangri-la souvenirs ( cups , pens, shirts, bathrobes) when i check out .

When we (my bro, a friend, and I) was in Cebu, we stayed at La Guardia Hotel. It doesn't look appealing from the outside, and there are chances of you getting in the elevator with foreigners with PSPs (sometimes including the pimp), but I really liked my stay there. The place was clean, the room they gave us was really spacious, and even if the hotel had more "short time" customers, the place was secured (none of our things were stolen even if we gave them the keys we went out), and it was just near Colon Street, where most jeepneys pass.

You can read about my stay there in my blog - HERE.

Mango Park Hotel is nicely located, relatively good rooms, and accessible by taxi and jeep. Damage is about 1,300.00

There is no better place than Shangri La Mactan. It's expensive but worth every penny.
