Hair Loss

minoxidil - expensive, works very slowly kaya itinigil ko na

activoglan - expensive also. so far i haven't noticed any difference after 2 months. nag experiment lang naman since puro regalo lang sakin to.

propecia - a relative who used this alsmost completely regrown his lost hair after 6 months use. Wala naman daw side effect after 2 years na nyang gamit except its expensive since 1 tablet daily for the rest of your life. Long hair pa nga sya ngayon parang elvis

propecia has a side effect... mahirap patigasin si junior. Pero in some cases or patients walang side effect. either swerte relative mo na walang side effect sa kanya or baka... hehe walang "happy" times hehe. (uhm pharma kc ko, not yet bald but nageexperiment sa mga gamot hehehe, eventually most men go bald) and by the way not for women ito ha.

madami talga causes ng baldness better check what.

hereditary--- why fight it, embrace it and be confident. but some medications help if you really want.

oily hair--- always make sure you shampoo daily to take out all the clogged pores or you might end up bald by your own doing or unhealthy lifestyle

diet/vitamin deficienty --- pag nagdidiet ka or unhealthy eating habits, sometimes there are vitamins you lack. most of the time its proteins and iron. iron supplements may help or have blood tested to identify ano kulang ang supplement on those.

search lang sa internet for more info. thesedays everything you want to know is there, just have the patience to find it.

be careful of herbals or magic treatments. (all alternative meds meaning yung hindi nirereseta or sinasabing natural) do not believe in what they promise unless may mapakita silang clinical trial data to prove na safe and effective. madami mapagsamantalang tao. one thing is if its not approved for the mentioned sickness in 1st world countries then it aint safe or true. US FDA, EMEA (european counterpart) etc. all have full scientific reviews before they allow products to have certain claims. BFAD is bullshit lahat nlng pwedi. sorry to have to say that.

different men react differently to drugs. ditto to propecia.

*studies on the effectiveness of propecia taken for 5 yrs show that:

50% - had slight to great improvement in hair growth

40% - had no change in hair density (they were able to arrest the progress of baldness

w/c is good esp for those in the early stages of baldness)

and

10% - didn't benefit at all (baldness proceeded/ became worse)

--------------------------

* studies further show that baldness will recur on men who have benefitted from taking propecia

once they discontinue taking the drug.

significance: you have to be prepared to take the drug for life (or at least till you can live without

your crowning glory; say at age 60 and above).

for balding hair?

I think that Rogain is the only scientifically proven product in the market that helps with hair loss. Of course, new scientific findings in promoting hair growth is funneling into becoming commercial products. With the completion of the human genome mapping, I am sure that this will benefit particularly in theexploration of hair growth.

but most doctors recommend minoxidil for hair restoration, draw back is you have to use it your whole life if you want to maintain your hair.

anyone has simple tips on how not to loose hair in an untimely manner? as in yung day to day activity tips, like not taking too hot showers, etc., etc... thanks.

Guys, there's no cure for baldness. minoxidil, herbal, mane and tail, svenson, etc etc etc all tried out by a friend of mine and wala din positive result. Mana mana lang talaga yan. It's all in your DNA. kung ang tatay mo hindi kalbo and lolo or uncle mo kalbo; possible na ikaw din makalbo.

Bald is okay. before i have a gf na gusto kalbo kaya nagpapakalbo ako throughout our relationship. di mo naman mapapansin pag tumagal. wag ikahiya. pag manipis ang buhok mabuti pang magpakalbo than grow it thin.

There are only two treatments approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for male baldness: Minoxidil and Finasteride. Finasteride is recommended first for male pattern baldness. Experts warn that many treatments marketed as hair loss cures are ineffective aside from the placebo effect.

Minoxidil is a vasodilator and originally was exclusively used as an oral drug (Loniten) to treat high blood pressure. It was discovered, however, to have the side effect of hair growth and reversing baldness, and in the 1980s, Upjohn Corporation received FDA approval to market a topical solution that contained 2% minoxidil to be used to treat baldness and hair loss as Rogaine.

Objective evidence shows that minoxidil is effective in both the frontal areas of the scalp and the vertex area in treating male-pattern hair loss. At the conclusion of a 48 week study, improvements were seen in the frontal scalp regions of 51% of men using 5% minoxidil, 42% using 2% minoxidil, and 13% of placebo users. Among these men, moderate to great increases in hair growth were seen in the frontal scalp regions of 19% of men using 5% minoxidil, 10% using 2% minoxidil, and 3% of placebo users.

Finasteride is a "DHT inhibitor" and was originally approved by the US FDA for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

In 1997, Finasteride was approved by the US FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness. A 5 year study revealed that 9 of 10 men taking finasteride (1 mg daily) experienced visible results (42% of men taking Propecia experienced no further hair loss while 48% experienced no further hair loss and hair regrowth). In clinical studies, finasteride, like Minoxidil, was shown to work on both the crown area and the hairline area, but is most successful in the crown area.

In another study, Merck sought to find the smallest effective quantity of finasteride and test its long-term effects on 1,553 men between ages 18 and 41 with mildly to moderately thinning hair. Based on their research, 1 mg. daily was selected, and after two years of daily treatment, over 83% of the 1,553 men experiencing male hair loss had actually maintained or increased their hair count from baseline. Visual assessments concluded that over 80% had improved appearances.

I was pondering where to post this uri link that i came upon a couple of days earlier. Since Baldness relates to hair & this commodity do relates to hair too, therefore here it goes-

Shampoo! Yep, shampoo... the vanities of a hugh portion of Filipina here & abroad. My guesstimate of this particular commodity's advertising expenses & billings-per-seconds in the local media (TV & printed ads) markets is probably among the top 5 (among beverages, instant-noodles, fastfood chains etc).

But has anyone ever thought what goes into the composition of your favorite shampoo? The compounds, could it harm your skin, beside your hair? Yung binabayad mo per-sachet o kada-bote... is it worth the p6/sachet kung ang produktong iyan ay malaman mong nakakaapektado sa inyong kalusugan, balat o kapaligiran mo?? Want to know more about what you are using day in & day out, then browse this uri~ http://www.salon.com/env/good_life/2009/08...mpoo/index.html
