peace MTC people... :boo:

just wanna start this thread as a reference for other people's job and salary range? what are you company priviledges - bonus plan, perks (car home etc loans), healthcare?

i guess this would be helpful for other MTC people who might want to know what a typical pay / perk for different business industires....

Might also be a good place to find out if its better to start your own business (less the office deadlines, inept bosses, office hassels, etc...) di ba?

hope everyone can share their info about this matter...

:boo: :boo:

engineer (hongkong based)

monthly income: in HK$/month (outrageous if converted to P, better not mention)
plus a guaranteed one month bonus annually

medical plans
housing allowance

Mandatory Provident Plan (otherwise known as retirement plan)
- 5% from your salary (monthly)
- 5% from the employer (monthly)
- these are contibuted to your account
- if you resign, you wont get any amount contributed by the employer if you're less than 3 months in the company otherwise you get a percentage share proportion to year of service. B)
- but you get all your contribution :)

opps sorry that MPF was an old scheme... :)

the new scheme, introduced in the latter part of yr 2000;

-contribution on both side is pegged at HK$ 1K (roughly P 7K) monthly. This is lower than the old scheme but an employee may wish to add some more from his own pocket.
-money is invested in stocks/money market and is handled/managed by
investment firm. you get to select stocks/funds and can change as often as
you want with minimal fee. old scheme is also invested in funds but you dont have a hand on what stocks/funds to choose.
-you dont get the money when you resign unless you're leaving out
Hongkong permanently. This is only tansfered to the new firm you are
connected with.
-your money may go up or down... :(

personally, i prefer the old scheme because if you resign and you have been connected with one firm for at least 10 yrs, then you get 100% of the company's contribution and yours plus dividends from the investments.
...which means...$$$$$$$$ :boo:   :boo:

80k a month, standard 13 months plus project bonuses
Full medical and dental (woohoo!) but no car plan (sucks).

Perks: Lots of training, you get to travel a lot, and meet lots of smart, interesting people.
