New Marvel Cartoons to Invade Your TV
Posted by Nomad on Thursday, June 12, 2008

So you see a fantastic banner shouting "Hulk: Gamma Corps!" You stroll over and ask for a press kit...assuming they have one since press are invited to attend. No press kit. Beyond that, no further info either. The press people at the little table kindly take down your information and assure you someone will get back to you. You are sure to repeat this meeting the next year, and probably with the same press rep as well!

Some tease, huh? This is my life. At any rate, this is the info we managed to squeeze out of the show with second hand conversations, wandering reps and the occasional super cool security guard!

Hulk: Gamma Corps:: Set to hit in 2009, provided the movie does the numbers required. Remember, there was a series planned the last time a Hulk movie hit and it never saw the light of day due to poor numbers at the box office. This series sees Hulk teaming with other Gamma powered individuals to fight the good fight. So..Hulk..She Hulk..Doc Samson...who else would be in there? I wasn't aware there were that many Gamma powered people to form a group with. I'll assume there will be some original creations in there. Fingers crossed, Marvel hopes for 26 episodes on the table, but nothing is in stone yet.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures:: Nicktoons snapped this one up. It's said to be ALL CGI from Method Studios in France and it does not take place in the comic or movie worlds, though it is an "updated" Iron Man. "Debuting exclusively on Nicktoons Network in first quarter 2009, Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man each feature 26 action-packed, half-hour episodes that follow the respective heroes through dynamic action, adventure and drama as they face foes both familiar and new to their fans." Exclusive to the Nicktoons network?! Bummer

Planet Hulk:: You asked for it and Lions Gate is answering. Look for a direct to DVD title late 2009.

Marvel Super Hero Squad:: Launching in 2009! 26 half-hour episodes are in the works for this new series aimed at children 10 and under. Super Hero City stands in for good ole' NYC, where our super deformed titans clash merrily with all manor of cheerful baddies. Also note that 2009 will see a video game for the PS3 from THQ. "An all-new Marvel brand, Marvel Super Hero Squad features an exciting, super-stylized look of the greatest Marvel Super Heroes, serving to expand the traditional Marvel audience to a core 4-10 year-old audience. Fun and humor are waiting around every corner in Marvel Super Hero Squad where popular characters including Iron-Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, The Fantastic Four, and many more are thrust into adventures in a single caricatured Super Hero City. Along the way, they will have to thwart the plans of popular Marvel villains Doctor Doom, Magneto, Iron Monger, Loki, the Abomination and countless other infamous baddies."

Marvel Extreme- Wolverine:: I thought we were done with stuff being extreeeeeeeme!! Guess not. So all the other banners turned out to be cartoons in the works, but with Wolverine and the X-men coming down the line, I sort of assume this title is a Lionsgate straight to dvd feature and they are finally making some more adult oriented films!! One can dream, right?

Marvel goes Anime, teams-up with Madhouse

As part of the company’s aggressive strategy to grow the exposure of its character franchises in international markets, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. is partnering with Madhouse - one of the top Japanese animation studios in the world - to create brand new characters inspired by the Marvel Universe for the Japanese market.

Working closely with Marvel, Madhouse will produce cutting edge Japanese anime series based on Marvel's world-renowned character library for the Japanese market. The characters will be adapted visually, using the unique style of Japanese anime, and their back stories and histories will interweave the local culture and history of Japan, with an eye toward making their mythology more relevant to the Japanese audience. This collaboration will result in a completely new character base, which will eventually cross-over into the current Marvel Universe.

“Marvel has continuously looked to push the boundaries with the Marvel Universe and seek new mediums for our characters. Madhouse is helping us expand the Marvel brand with a truly global vision tailored to themes and artistic styles popular in Japan, creating a uniquely localized and cross-cultural adaptation of the Marvel Universe,” said Simon Philips, President, International & Worldwide Head of Animation, Wireless & Gaming for Marvel Entertainment. “With over 35 years of experience developing and producing worldwide entertainment hits, we are confident Madhouse will be able to translate the vision of the Marvel Universe through the unique anime style, to create captivating new entertainment that will thrill both new and old fans alike.”

Madhouse is currently in production on the first of four new series (12 x 30 minutes), which are scheduled to launch in spring 2010. The initial series will feature characters including Iron Man and Wolverine, among others, and Madhouse will ultimately look to adapt the entire Marvel Universe, creating in essence a whole new character base for Marvel.

“We are incredibly excited to have this full collaboration with Marvel to create a completely new world that has never been done before in the Marvel Universe. This will be the first time there will be a full Japanese anime style for Marvel, and the Madhouse creative team is fully engaged to bring this to a worldwide audience,” said Jungo Maruta, president and CEO of Madhouse Inc.

The Marvel anime series will debut on ANIMAX, the first and largest 24-hour network dedicated to anime.

Additionally, Marvel and Madhouse will be exploring related merchandising initiatives to support the new series.

The First Avenger: Captain America

Marvel has released an official synopsis for the story of The First Avenger: Captain America.

"Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the ‘Super-Soldier Serum’ and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers."

Will the Red Skrull be showing up?

Suggestion ko...sana they cast a Brit, an Irishman or an Aussie to play Cap.

Marvel Expands Slate With Avengers Animated Series
by Jay Cochran in Marvel at 10:50 AM on 2008.10.08

Further strengthening its robust animation slate, Marvel Animation, a division of Marvel Entertainment, announced today the production of an all new animated series, THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Production on 26 half-hour episodes is already underway using the production services of Film Roman, producer of the Simpsons and King of the Hill.

The new series, expected to be available for broadcast in 2011, continues on Marvel’s already impressive television line-up which includes the all-new Wolverine and the X-Men and Iron Man: Armored Adventures series that will both debut on Nicktoons in 2009. Marvel Animation will also debut the all-new series Marvel Super Hero Squad and The Black Panther next year.

THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is an all-new property featuring some of Marvel’s all-time favorite characters including Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Giant Man and Wasp. When the planet is threatened by Super Villains, time traveling conquerors, alien invaders, mythical monsters and mad robots bent on the total destruction of humanity, when forces of evil are so overwhelming that no single hero has the power to save the world, when there is no hope left…the Avengers assemble!

The Avengers are the best of the best in the Marvel Universe and the greatest heroes who take on the most unbeatable foes. These are the heroes who hold back the storm, and the fate of the world rests on their shoulders.

"The addition of THE AVENGERS: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to our quickly expanding animation slate continues our plan to complement each of our tentpole live action features with an animated series," said Eric Rollman, President of Animation. "This new ensemble series tracks perfectly with our highly anticipated ‘road to the Avengers’ strategy which includes some of Marvel’s biggest and most beloved characters, and which kicks off with two Avengers’ themed feature films in summer 2011.”

That is Captain America in the Alternate 'Incredible Hulk' Opening!

The boys at Film School Rejects have cleared things based on their report that Captain America can be seen in the Alternate Opening found on the second disc on The Incredible Hulk Special Edition DVD (10.21). The sequence is 2:25 long, and the cameo comes right near the end as an avalanche crashes down toward the camera.

Try seeing the shield, and you'll see the body under it. Captain America frozen in the ice.
It's near the very end of the feature (which lasts right at 2:25) when the avalanche is coming directly toward the audience.
