I was driving a Ford Edge rental one early morning along the famous Route 66 in Arizona and was about to turn left onto the I-40 ramp going to Los Angeles. As I had clear right of way I stepped on the gas from a full stop and then this old Nissan pick-up ran through the intersection from the opposite direction and hit me. His engine compartment was about 3/4 crushed while my Ford's entire grill was crumpled up to the engine block. Luckily my airbag activated and I walked out with just a few scratches on my hand. The other driver, a young college kid walked out too with a few scratches and a bump on his forehead. Turns out he was up all night, drove tired but was not DUI. I managed to shake off the shock of the accident and just waited for my replacement car and managed to to return to LA without further incident. I supposed my rental company sued the other driver.
That was a memorable vacation.
