THe best talaga ang eheads. local version ng beatles to kaso modern. malay nyo yung pag alis ni ely nun sa eheads e strategy lang para d magsawa yung tao sa kanila tapos baka 2007 mag regroup sila uli! yahoo! eheads rock! seeker_of_daybreak Posted September 8, 2005 Share Posted September 8, 2005 I like the heads a lot too...but do you guys think that parokya is far behind?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> parokya is right there with the eraserheads in terms of popularity. but i think what sets the eheads apart is that their songs captured the conciousness of the 90's youth. their songs are experiences that everybody can relate to (at that time). they're our local version of alanis morisette. it not just because everybody were singing eheads songs during that time, they became legends because their songs are like time capsules which represented our era. they rock! Kaya ung mga naglalabasang local bands after them, hindi mo maiwasang ikumpara sa kanila, and so far i haven't found yet ung band na makaka dislodge sa kanila as the greatest local band ever in Philippine music industry. When everybody was so bored with the pop music scene back then, the Eraserheads came out and everything changed. They are the ones who started the 90's "bandwagon" trend. Everybody wanted to form a band after that. They are really the Beatles of the Philippines. If you compare their albums with the Beatles, the first couple of albums were to please the audience and the remaining are the experimental albums or they made these albums to explore there musical prowess. It's just a too bad that they have disbanded. We'll just hope that they will have a reunion album or concert. Kudos to the thread starter for an excellent topic. revi Posted September 24, 2005 Share Posted September 24, 2005 The Eraserheads were the Juan Dela Cruz Band of the 1990's. I first heard them play around 1992 at Club Dredd (ung sa old Dredd).. Catchy tunes sabi ko sa sarili ko. I was really waiting for Binky Lampano to play that night. Opening act lang ang E-Heads at that time. Metal talaga ang uso noon kasi kaya hindi masyado napapansin ang E-Heads sa Dredd. The one song that started everything was really, "Pare Ko." At that time L.A. 105.9 (yes, not NU) was giving OPM Alternative Bands respect --- meaning they were giving new groups radio air-time. And "Pare Ko," was a hit. When I first heard the song it was so good that I got surprised na E-Heads pala tumugtog nito. Then their first album was released.. this album started a trend that even right now popular alt. bands like Hale, Parokya, etc. are benefiting from. They say that Ely Buendia became an air-head. I say no.. why? Because Ely did not want to be a superstar singer. He wanted to do what he likes best.. and that is to write and sing his songs. Hindi nagyayabang si Ely nun.. it was just being him.
