The Skycable Review/complaint Thread

I'm planning to update from Skycable Gold to the Skycable Platinum (HBO pack and Metro Pack packages) and I'm getting your experiences (those who are already Skycable Platinum subscribers):

 

How's the quality of reception? I've heard madalas daw mawalang ng signal and the movement on screen is kinda erratic (pixelation ata ang term for the breaking up of image on screen/irregular movement). Madalas daw mangyari ito sa Platinum? True?

 

How's the quality of the programs? I mean talagang sulit ba yun money mo for the movies you get to see, specially the HBO Siganture and HBO Hits on the HBO Pack? Same for the Discovery and Real Time channels?

I don't have a platinum subscription but friends in a Makati condo on platinum do complaint about pixelation, particularly noticeable in HD, LCD high resolution TV sets. The digital box (used for platinum reception) it seems is more sensitive and so are the higher resolution TV sets.

I used to subscribe to sky platinum metro pack but downgraded to gold again. imo its not worth it unless you spend your whole day doing nothing but watch tv. as for the signal and reception, i would say its clear and no problems encountered.

Thanks for your input. My household has a full lineup of viewers from adults, teen-agers and young children, I guess we won't run out of programs to watch around the house. A friend has subscriptons to both Sky Gold (P870/mo) and Destiny (P500/mo), he seems satisfied with the setup esp with the ESPN, Jack-TV and History Channels. Looking into this combination too.

 

Im currently on skycable silver subscription. I want to subscribe to BTV. I was told that it would cost an additional P100 a month. I got no problem with that. However, I was told that I also need to buy a digital box which would cost an additional P2000. Is this true?

I heard the digital box costs P1,500 which is refundable when subscription is terminated. Haven't confirmed this however.

We stay in the Mandaluyong area. Channel 25 of Sky Cable is reserved for teasers of Sky Cable Platinum. For crying out loud, we have been trying to upgrade to Platinum since last year and all they can say is, the service is not yet available in your area. I like watching Playhouse Disney kasi eh.:)

Yes, it seems some areas are not yet accessed by the Sky Platinum service. I thought all it took was just the installation of the digital box to avail of the service. Hindi pala.

 

Is it true that if you are already a Sky Gold subscriber (P870/mo) and upgrade to Platinum (+P350/mo) for a total monthly bill of P1220/mo, and you subscribe to their internet service at Skybroad band at P999/mo (1.5mbsp speed) your SkyGold monthly is discounted to (P500/mo)?

 

Total cable bill (Platinum Metro Pack, for example + Gold at discounted price) equals (P350 + P500) = P850mo

Total Skybroadband monthly bill = P999/mo

 

Looks like a very good deal! Has anybody availed of this?

Is it true that SkyCable (Gold or Platinum) will soon have the History Channel in its lineup?

 

This is one channel I sorely miss in the Skycable Gold. Destiny was able to outdo Sky on this one. The channel is really wonderfully informative, a must have channel for history buffs like me.

We finally got the Skycable Platinum, together with the digibox. I don't know if this was suppose to improve the service.......well it did not. Yes we now have premium channels like Playhouse Disney, History Channel, Biography Channel, etc. But a lot of times, our TV sets lose the signal. No signal, no program. Asar....and it happens when we were so into the tv show. Also, the digibox takes one set of the video connections. So when I want to view videos we took in our digicam, we have to remove the digibox connection....hassle.

 

Attention SkyCable, please improve your service.

Meron na ba sa inyo dyan naka subscribe nang "package" nang skycable? Meron silang rate plan na Php3,999. Kasama na dito SkyCable TV (Gold package ata)/broadband (up 3mps upload ata) and phone 100 minutes free. Kung nasubukan na ninyo ito, ok ba ang service? Yung cable box /internet modem at telepono, libre ba o do you have to pay for the equipment. Nag email ako sa customersales nang skycable hindi naman ako sinasagot. Di ko rin alam kung yung 100 minutes free nang phone nila ay VOIP o hindi at kung libre ang local calls.

You mean bundled service. Yang lang ang problem sa sky mahirap tawagan.

Kami nga sir last june 17 pa wala..

 

kumidlat dito sa min.. damay yung cable line.. pati yung mga tv namin sira lahat..

 

nag occular inspection yung skycable crew kailangan daw palitan ng linya..

 

worst pa nito.. hanngang ngayon hindi nila kami binibigyan ng rebate kasi dapat 680 a month ang rate namin dahil hindi kami pwede mag skycable gold..dahil yung linya namin dito eh lumang transmission pa..

 

sayang nga eh okey sana yung gold.. may payper view pa sa mga laban ni MP

Bwisit tong Sky Cable! Ever since sapilitang nag-convert to digital (thru their digibox) ay araw-araw na kami mag service interruption. Pag tumawag ka sa tech support nila, bago ka pa makakausap ng ahente, may voice prompt na na ine-enumerate yung may mga lugar na may problema. Napakalaking hassle talaga!

 

Then wala yung area namin sa mga mentioned areas. We get through to a customer service representative after about 15 mins from when we first dial their hotline. To make it worse, they don't know what the problem is. Pag minor problem daw, 4 to 6 hours and fix time. Madami kaming na miss na World Cup games dahil dito.

Can't believe it happened again. Every since Skycable took over Destiny, it's been one big letdown after another. Last August, we lost service during the gold medal game between the US and Spain. Now we have no service again--just in time for the "Senna" premiere on HBO. Sky just sucks.
