LRT And MRT Services

segragetion is ok.  Pag sumusunod and tao. Which defeats the purpose of segragation anyway.

The MRT is the best way to travel along EDSA.  When I visit the Philippines (I'm from L.A.), I ride the MRT to travel between QC and Makati.  While riding the MRT, I observe the pace of traffic on EDSA and thank my lucky stars that the MRT exists.

As for the LRT (from Pasay), I hear from some people that it is not well kept and that many have had their pockets picked while riding on it.  I, therefore, do not ride the LRT.  How accurate are their accounts?  Are there many pick pockets on the LRT?  Are the LRT cars not as clean as MRT cars?

add comments lang..

those pickpockets po strikes everywhere.. so ingat na lang sa mga belongings na tin

LRT cars are clean naman.. so old na nga lang kaya akala natin madumi pa din :P

well, tiis tiis na lang tayo on what means of transpo we have kaysa sa wala..

alala ko tuloy sabi ni Mr. Oreta years back..

pero all in all, thankful ako at may ganung train system tayo :thumbsupsmiley: ilang seb din ang na-save nun dahil d ako na-late!

Same with me. When I stay in Makati, I take MRT up to QC daily, since I think it's a much better alternative to taking a taxi. But when I stay in Malate, I take LRT down to EDSA station, and change over to MRT to go up to QC. I find that LRT cars are cleaner and better kept than MRT cars. LRT is normally not as crowded, and I find it safer also. Just keep your wits about you, and you don't have to worry about pickpockets. I haven't been victimized yet.

First of all if it werent for the LRT then i would have wasted thousands of pesos worth of gas money. Its fast and airconditioned. The thing is they need bigger cars. Everytime i ride its always hella crowded. I hate it though when people stand right in front of you or right behind you. its hella messed up. or the times when the aircon in the cars is busted (its happend to me 3 times na and ive only been down here for a year).

I've been riding these trains for the longest time. At first it was LRT, Php1.50 pa lang yata ang token nung mga panahon na yon. Nung una ok kasi aircon tapos mabilis. Fast forward....ngayon ang LRT ang pinakabulok, pinakamabaho ang pinaka ill maintained of all the air con train systems. I seriously think that yung pang maintenance nito eh kinukurakot ng mga opisyal nila.

Then came the MRT, hulog ng langit para sa mga pasaherong bumibiyahe ng EDSA. Super lamig nung una..super bilis din. Kaso sobrang sikip nung train itself for starters. Plus the fact that nasa EDSA to so ito ang pinakamaraming commuters kaya talagang masikip. Ngayon, lagi tumitirik. I remember one time tumirik to tapos the head of MRT management, former police chief lastimoso was interviewed by reporters kung ano dahilan bakit lagi tumitirik ang MRT. That's the head honcho speaking right there..so it does not come as a surprise kung bakit ganyan na ang condition ng MRT.

And then there came LRT2, the one that almost took a decade to construct....i mean...nauna pa ito sa MRT gawin pero tumatakbo na MRT hindi pa rin tapos ang LRT2...but was the wait worth it? I honestly think so. The LRT2 is more spacious than its predecessors....the A/C is stronger...you have guards roaming around all the time (inside the trains, even while in motion), smoother ride, time controlled departure and arrival of trains (with some delay at times), cleaner stations and trains. And surprisingly LRT2 does not have ticket windows except for senior citizens and stored value buyers but the lines in getting a ticket is really manageable because you are buying from a machine. Medyo bago pa ang LRT2, I just hope that they can maintain the good points of this train service.

Things I hate about these trains:

1. Guards, unreasonable most of the time. I can understand and support security measures but some guards are out of this world in terms of rationality..hehe

2. special coaches for women...i mean i can understand old people and women with children...but for strong and healthy women (im sorry to say this but...those who push people inside the trains are mostly women..based upon my experience)? I don't think we need special coaches for women per se, kala ko ba sabi nila men and women are equal? kung naiinis sila sa mga manyak na lalake...pde rin sila maging manyak at manghipo....being a pervert is not about your gender...

3. Skyscraper stairs - whoooaaaa, some stations have stairs that reach up to heaven that the mere thought of climbing (ergo SCALING) them is already a workout in itself. hehehehe

4. Availability of Stored value cards - this i don't understand...why do they run out of stored value tickets all the time....the way i see it...their stored value tickets should be sold everywhere to decongest their stations of people lining up for these stored value tickets.

Overall, these trains have problems but they save you a lot of time (unless tumirik) and time is money!!! Let's hope they keep their good practices and improve on the other areas of improvement they have.
