pag nakawindows ka... malamang sobrang bagal nyan after a month na nakabukas walang pahinga. sa bahay 3days nakabukas ang pc walang pahinga ok lang.. pero shempre with just an ordinary room temp eh malaki ang risk ng overheat.

any debian/linux/unix OS, kahit isang taon yan nakabukas walang shutdown shutdown ok lang.

yung pentium 2 na pc ko buhay pa rin hanggang ngayon. wala na siyang cover kasi grounded na yung box. walang patayan yun. sige ang download and convert ng videos. di rin aircon ang kwarto. may konting ingay na ang fan kasi dahil sa alikabok. as far as i can remember there were only 3 ocassions na kailangan kong patayin, to upgrade parts and to add HDDs. the other times would be due to brown out.

malakas ba consumo sa kuryente ng pc? minsan kc nanghihinayang akong iwanang nakabukas overnight during downloading. any ideas?

Malakas din sa kuryente ang PC kasi lahat ng components gumagamit ng kuryente, UPS or AVR mo pa lang malakas na, then yung mismong power supply ng PC, then monitor mo pa. if there's really no need to leave it on then just turn it off, makakatipid ka na sa kuryente makakasave ka pa ng konti sa wear & tear lifespan ng PC parts mo.

2 months running continously ang PC ko.. I need to download the latest demos of games from gamespot cause Im writing reviews for them. And ang lalaki pa talaga ng size ranging from min of 500Mb up to 2.7Gb.

Running temps ko is around 30C kapag iniiwan ko. Kpag naglalaro na ko around 40 na siya at max. GPU is ranging from 46 to 50C.

I notice that a lot of offices (including mine) don't turn off their computers when everyone has gone home for the night already. Is this because it's cheaper to leave them on rather than turning them back on the following day?

^ the computer in your company are probably servers.. they have to be online 24/7 and they are designed to do that..

i have server computers, and they really stand for weeks na walang patayan... so far after 4 years yung CD drive pa lang ang nasira.

kung ang pc mo eh assembled nabili, wag kang makipagsabayan sa ibang matibay na computer

What I do with my pc to prevent overheating is to take out the side panel then use a small electric fan tapos nakatutok sa cpu :P

pero here's the catch. kapag ang computer/server mo is switched on for a long time (I'm talking about months) tapos patayin mo.. for sure mahirap to switch it back on again.

Natatandaan ko yung server na 8 months nonstop operation. I had to turn it off for hardware cleaning. ang tindi ng alikabok. switched it off, cleaned the fan and the other components, then switched it back on. kinabahan ako nung hindi mag-on. pinapahinga ko the whole day then switched it on again. ayun..

kailangan lang pala pahinga ng lokong server :upside:
