The Element associated with Cancer is Water. Like the rolling waves of the sea, the Crab's emotions can make quite a splash. These folks tend to pick up on things and bring them in, with the outward result ranging from sentimentality to possessiveness. Crabs need to resist the temptation to become selfish or to feel sorry for themselves, since this behavior won't help. On the bright side, Cancers are good with money (although some consider them too thrifty), probably because they value a sense of security. Crabs are also quick to help others and tend to avoid confrontation. In keeping with their nurturing bent, those born under this Sign are a whiz with food. A hearty picnic on the Fourth of July is heaven on earth to most Crabs.
Cancers often find that a robust workout session is just the tonic for their touchy feelings. Team sports are always nice, since they offer a sense of community; water polo should be elemental to aquatic Crabs. What are their team colors? The Moon is silver and white. Since Cancerians have a tendency to be lazy, however, they may need someone to push them out the door. When it comes to the game of love, eager Crabs are devoted, romantic and able to get things going on their own. Crabs are wise to listen to their gut, since this Sign rules the stomach.
The great strength of the Cancer-born is the tenacity with which they protect their loved ones. These folks don't ask for much, either: a comfortable home and sense of peace about sums it up. It's that nurturing instinct which makes Cancerians a pleasure to be with.

You are abnormally sensitive to the emotional states of people with whom you come in contact. You do not read the obvious: the statements people make about themselves with their dress or their language. You read whether they are stressed or in trouble despite the sophisticated or elegant come-on. You can be easily hurt by the indifference of others who do not read emotional states as well as you do. You hide away resentments and disappointments, not daring to bring these out in the open for fear of upsetting others. You bottle things up, and you never forget a wrong done to you.
You have an affectionate nature and a strong family spirit. A stable and simple home life is important to you. It offers you protection from the seeming hardness of the outside world. But family life has its ups and downs, too. You can be upset for days over a domestic dispute which others shrug off with ease. Outright rows amongst family members or about family matters can lead to digestive disorders. You feel it in the guts. Your tendency to fret can lead to a waste of both emotional and nervous energy. You need to learn to say when you are feeling hurt or upset.
As a parent you are very protective of your children. You have a strong dislike of change and are conservative in your child-rearing practices. You like to know who your children are associating with, and whether their friends' families have good solid values. You can be a bit over-protective and need to guard against this tendency.
Children with the Moon in Cancer are highly impressionable and home-loving too. They need support for their intuitions about feelings as they grow. But they also need to form relationships outside the home to achieve a balanced life. They can be fearful of venturing out into new and different experiences with others. They need to be helped to do this, rather than become brooders tied to the safety and security of their home base.

The Sun in Cancer gives you the desire to care for others, to nurture them and mother them. You have a great deal of empathy which gives you a sensitive understanding of where others are coming from. You are generous and patient with others.
You are governed by emotions and feelings. Domesticity is important to you, as is a harmonious family life. You have a good memory for family matters and can become the custodian of your family's history. You remember the names of even distant relatives and how they connect with the current generation.
Your sensitivity to others can be problematic. You respond to other's moods, with the result that your own moods can wax and wane like the moon. You do not like conflict, so when people oppose your ideas and values, you tend to agree outwardly whilst inwardly feeling distrustful and discontented. You scuttle sideways and withdraw into your shell. When you are roused to anger you can attack by nipping or niggling at another's sore spots. Your over sensitivity to others can lead to fits of despondency which, in turn, lead to procrastination in the face of realities. You must learn to have the courage of your convictions.
Your tendency to worry can lead to problems with digestion. You should eat well-cooked food and take time over meals. You may develop fluid retention as you age, with a tendency to put on weight around the stomach. You need plenty of fresh fruit and salads. You need to work in a caring profession as a channel for your energies. Psychiatric nursing, social welfare counselling, childcare, mothercraft nursing, primary teaching are all possibilities. It is important for the male Cancerian to work with his caring nature, even if these careers are more traditionally female domains.
Although you seem to be willing to sacrifice much for others, you do count on expressions of gratitude and can get quite crabby when these are not forthcoming. This is particularly so with regard to your relationships with immediate family. Your mothering tendency can lead to smothering those closest to you. You must learn to "love without asking anything in return" and allow those you love their independence.
Those with the Sun in Cancer can be attracted to and learn from those with the Sun in Capricorn. Your contemplative and emotional nature can benefit from the hard-working practicality of your opposite sign.

yeah and some horoscopes also say that its period ends in July 21.
I've always wondered why some horoscopes list Cancer as commencing on June 21 whilst most have it begin on June 22. Any thoughts from Astrology experts?
How about the theory that the date is not the same all over the world?
ie. its June 21 in the eastern U.S while its already 22 here in R.P.

Because of the inaccuracy of the zodiac calendar to the calendar year, the first five and last five days of any Zodiac sign is considered a cusp. Astronomically speaking this is the period where the sun moves from one house to another, and since the Zodiac calendar is inaccurate it's impossible to tell without a solar chart what house the sun was currently occupying on those particular days. Astronomically speaking cusps are supposed to carry traits of both signs. The dominant house (the house that the sun was actually in when they were born) will show traits of the house that the sun was moving towards or away from.
To get back on topic Happy Birthday all cancerians.
A little bit of trivia: The part of the body that Cancer rules is the breast/chest and as such tends to be your most errogenous zone.
