Impromptu road trips are the best - mostly central/northern luzon are the good ones (lots of places to stop by).

I always wanted to explore the North by land. One of the 'things to do before I die of old age' is a blog-recorded grand tour of Northern Luzon with this route:

Manila - Dingalan Bay - Baler - (Sierra Madre?) - Baggao - Palaui - Aparri - Pagudpud - Bangui - Laoag - Paoay - Vigan - Baguio - Alaminos - Olongapo - Pinatubo - Clark - NLEX - Manila

Trouble is finding the good month or two to enjoy the entire trip, plus the associated expenses.

For us, it was Pampanga to Baguio, then Baguio to Vigan, then Vigan to Pagudpud, then Pagudpud to la Union then back to Pampanga. 7 day journey with some side trip, very challenging driving wise, but definitely worth it

Quezon City - Angeles City, Pampanga . . .

Going north is via NLEX up to Angeles Exit, but going back on a southern route thru the sites along Manila North Road (MacArthur Hiway), with numerous food and pasalubong stops along the way . . .

Nice way to gained 6 pounds quickly . . .

about a decade ago: drive from iloilo to manila; several years back: manila-tarlac-baguio then vice versa; also did some quite short stints to cavite, batangas, laguna, tagaytay, etc. recently... my bucket list?  driving up the Swiss Alps roads; been to various european countries, and grabe- sarap magtravel via bus/coaster/car coz of the majestic sights; for sure mag-drive between border countries, too... issue ko lang- the road signs can be a challenge or a pain (both pa nga)... iba ang English spelling vs Russian, Georgian, Armenian, etc... oh well- soon...
