I read the book and then watch the movie or vice versa para may point of comparison ako. Minsan nman kasi may ibang twist na pag movie version na e... just like ung "The General's Daughter.." or ung Patriot Games... :)

d harry potter series are one of d reasons why its 'read first, watch later'. you cant get the picture of d TRUE hogwarts in d movie (its a 'disneyfied version' there) pero sa book - you can see how ginny is smitten with harry, you can follow the weasley twins' misadventures, you can wonder with the ravenclaws why hermione is not in their house, etc.

can I post d spoiler on HP6 here???

I also go for books, kasi it gives my imagination more freedom to fly.movies are interesting, though. kaya lang, sometimes, i find that there are really just a few of them which can really grab me. What i will trade for movies and books though, is a night watching a play..theater is simply amazing.try it. ;)

I carry a book, good or not, everywhere i go...

Maybe because i can't bring a tv and a player anytime.

But between Archos and a Book, il go for the author's piece.

For me, both the movie and the book. The book gives you a lot of insight into the characters, settings, and situations, the movie shows you how everything falls into place. The Star Wars movies were great but I got a lot of insight into them from the book. The Harry Potter movies were good because JK Rowling had a hand in their development, but the books showed better insight into the relationship of the characters (sheesh! The movie didn't even explain why Harry's Patronus was a stag! And that was a significant part of the book!). LOTR, well, the movie did jsutice to the book but with a few twists. It was just the Jack Ryan movie adaptations, several of them deviated from the book, but, oh well.... Either way, it's nice to see both the movie and the prose. :)

For me the movie is generally a disappointment after reading the book. I guess ones own imagination running amok is better than a directors interpretation, besides the author gets to describe emotions which the actors may well not accurately portray.

i suggest both. sometimes reading the book and watching the movie adds to your understanding of what you read or watched. this applied to LOTR (which I first read during the early 90's) and silence of the lambs. even if you read the book, sometimes you have to see it on screen to better understand it. although there are cases wherein the book is so much better than the movie (harry potter series and jurassic park/lost world) or the other way around (forrest gump, the movie was so much better than the book).

Yes Forrest Gump, my favorite movie, one of the very very few movies which was better than the book. But I would always prefer to read a book than watch a movie.

I try watching the movie version of a book when it becomes available. More often than not, I'd find the books more exciting because they try to play with your imagination. Most movie adaptations lose a lot of the original book's plot, or even sometimes change major parts, just to make it appeal to the moviegoers, as well as fit the producer's budget and time constraints (1-3 hours)

I recommend reading a book 'coz its sharpens the mind as opposed to just watching a movie. There's little brain stimulation involved.

depends on the time and place of course, well, generally i prefer movies coz i can read at least three minds of different characters at the same time, the writer, the director and the actor. its like reading poem and listening to a music or watching mtv

i like reading books as long as i have time since the activity stirs up my imagination.
in movies kasi, you are watching someone else's imagination in full and living colors.
if im in lazy mode (which is now becoming a habit kasi i always feel tired), i go to the movie house and relax by watching the show.
