What's Your Current Pc System ?

Recommended Posts

Just upgraded my system a month ago from an Athlon XP 1500. Since I would be changing the motherboard anyway if I upgraded to a faster Athlon chip, I decided to give Intel a try once more, The specs are:

Pentium 4 2.8c HT

Kingston 526mb ddr 400 ram

ECS Motherboard on intel 865 chipset 800mhz fsb

geforce fx5600 video card

80gb HDD

SB Audigy 2 Sound Card

Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers

17 inch monitor

asus cdrw

sony dvd rom

You would think that with this system, all would be well with my gaming but guess what? It can only play Far Cry at its lowest video settings without experiencing chopiness. To all the techies out there, do you think adding more memory would make a difference?

On the Games Master June 2004 edition the IDEAL system requirement for Far Cry is a P4/Athlon 3Ghz, 1GB RAM, Geforce FX 5950/Radeon 9800 Pro. Yes, adding more memory (1 gigabyte) would make a big difference. :)

Thanks for the tip Dude. I guess that's why they call the game "Far Cry" since the system specs are usually a far cry from the ideal :D .

pre,

hindi ito lulupit sa mga pc niyo pero makiki-post na din.

AMD Athlon™ XP 2600+ running at 2.9 ghz

Epox Mobo EP-8KRA2I (got the one with the SATA...)

2 hard drives Seagate Barracuda 80 gigs 7200 rpm

Logitech wireless keyboard / Optical Mouse

Creative Audigy Soundcard

512 MB DDR 400

GeForce Ti 4200 128 MB DDR

Altec Lansing 5.1 Speakers

LG DVD / Cd-R Combo drive

LG CD-Rom Drive

7 fans (inlet, outlet, etc)

Volcano fan / heatsink

Cnet 56 K modem (fax)

2 LAN Cards (internet / networking)

Win XP sp 1

Direct X 9.0b

updated this last year pero right now its maxed out when it comes to the newer games.. mabilis na rin ang rendering nya pagdating sa video pero am planning to upgrade again.. fit it with some wireless routing para sa Laptop so it can work hand in hand with some laptops with no bothersome wires..

cool system pareng dehadista, have you tried Far Cry with your system? how did it go? I think the standard norm nowadays is to upgrade our system every 6 months.

pareng mayorsam, did I read that right? you got a 200GB Hard disc capacity? :boo:

I got an AMD Barton 2500+ proc, EPOX 8rda3i motherboard, 512 DDR400, 40 GB 72rpm Maxtor, Tornado geforce 4 mx440-8x 128mb, Soundblaster 5.1 soundcard.

I dont know anything about these stuffs. I just asked my friend if he can give me tips on what to buy for a PC and those are the stuffs he recommended, so I bought them. It cost me an overall of 35K. Is it worth it?

Sabi sa reviews Far cry would put modern videocards down on its knees, talagang kailangan magandang-maganda daw dapat ang videocard. Didn't even dare to play the game on my geforce 4 mx400.

sana nga. para sa half-life 2 talaga tong current pc ko.

The minimum system spec is currently targeted at a 700 MHz PC with 128 MB RAM and a DX6-level video card, eg: TNT2 etc, meaning you won't need a supercomputer to run Half-Life 2 but don't expect to see reflective water, dynamic shadows and bump-mapped textures.

The game running at reasonable detail eg: 25/40 fps, requires a 1600Mhz cpu, 256 mb ram, GeForce4 Ti or Ati Radeon card.

In real life you need the best from a new game so I would recommend a 2000 cpu, or higher 512 mb ram or higher, GeForce4 Ti4800 128 ddr or ATI Radeon 9600 pro.

IF you've got the money ATI Radeon 9800 pro. or Geforce FX5900 ultra

The more power the better but not essential with this game.

pare,

so far, after reading all the posts here regarding the ideal specs for FAR CRY, i'm feeling less inclined to try out the game sa PC ko... but what the heck. maybe i'll give it a spin one of these days... i'll tell u if its good with my system.

anyway, with the upgrades... haaay naku. tama ka dyan pare. its every six months or so. but i'm taking it easy. every year na lang. tapos dahan-dahan. watch out for the power supplies out there.. be sure to match it up with the UPS. learned it the hard way...fried my HD and lost 15 GB of MP3s...

Adding more memory on the MOBO will somehow help. Window XP uses the first 256 MB of the RAM. What's is left is just 256 Mb for the game itself. Bring it to 1024 MB.
